The cut at 11:11 was to clarify a copyright issue but the word "this" and a short clip is all that is missing.

Honestly this was my intro to the DBZ games and I don’t regret it. This game had a great story for its time. Krillin absorbed should have been a playable character.

Krillin being in cells nightmare tracks. Its dreamlands . So technically anything can happen.

loved this game and DBZ growing up; it's funny you mentioned those old VHS's because I'd beg to get a random one at the grocery store back in the day that randomly had them; this was the first game I was ever personally aware of and the ability to control some of my favorite characters just enriched my fandom even more!

Same. I'd see random VHS tapes and ask for them when they'd be in stock

@Silem2006 my prized tapes was where Vegeta goes Super Saiyan for the first time... but I didn't actually see the payoff battle with 19 until well over a decade later.

5:21 Oh yeah let me tell you, that is an experience I'll never forget. I remember how Toonami would randomly just restart the entire series because they hadn't dubbed the whole series yet, so you would get like half way through the Namek Arc and the next day you'd be right back at Raditz showing up at the very beginning. And you had to wait until the series cycled all the way back to where you were. This wasn't the only series this happened with either, Pokemon was infamous for it. I've still never seen the entire Orange Island series due to how hard it was to time the series starting and restarting like that.
7:35 Actually, I think it does happen again. You have a second version that's in the "Alternate Timeline" version where you play as Piccolo for the Saiyan saga instead, and that version of the Goku minigame here is MUCH HARDER. One of the neat things about this game is a bunch of stages have these "alternate timeline" versions like there's one for the end of the Saiyan saga where you play as Vegeta and kill everyone, and at the end he turns Super Saiyan because of how mad he was that Gohan almost beat him. It was cool, but that particular stage was one of the reasons I never replayed the Raditz one.

I think the reason the Buu saga was not in this game was due to the fact the Buu saga not being finished in the west when this game came out. Even if you were buying the DVD's instead of watching on Toonami the Buu saga wasn't complete and the English version of the manga was just starting the Cell saga at this point.

What you described about experiencing the dbz story through the games was EXTREMELY relatable. I was born in 02 so i never actually experienced watching dbz on toonami but i was introduced to dbz through some old vhs tapes at my dads (goku vs vegeta in the saiyan saga with the ocean dub) i got season 9 of dbz for a birthday present and had scattered dvd singles from the android saga, earlier portions of the buu saga and the "ginyu saga" so i really experienced majority of the story through the games which is why i ended up getting every dbz game on ps2 just because aome games covered certain parts of the story the others didn't

Your complaint about capsule sizes reminded me of Budokai 3. Goku had to have Kaio-ken, SSJ, 2, and 3, just to equip SSJ4. That meant 5 of his limited slots were taken up with just transformations alone. Luckily, a friend found some GameShark codes that made all capsules 1 slot, and literally changed everything going forward. We'd have 5 or 6 of us taking turns, loser rotating out, unless the winner beat everybody almost every weekend. The guy that had the GameShark wasn't as good as the rest of us, so he chatted to start being us with Cooler, his breakthrough, a couple ki reducing capsules, and his space ship auto revive, before we figured it out. Luckily, once saved in the memory card and that characters loadout we didn't need to keep using the GameShark.

@evprince There was some bad with the whole trilogy, but I enjoyed each one when they came out. Going backwards was harder because of quality of life changes/improved gameplay, but each had certain things I loved. 1 had interesting side missions in the story, like the Cell absorbing Krillin. 2 had much more fusions, not just Gokule or Tiencha, but Super Buu could absorb Cell or Frieza too. I've probably got +1k hours in 3 though, because of my friends vs battles. We'd drink and smoke, kicking it at a friend's house in our mid 20s. We never managed to unlock the Saibamen or Cell Jrs, but that was more due to rng in a certain mode, that only happened in single player mode. You could do 2 player in the mode, but neither of the 2 characters you needed to interrupt would attack while you were doing 2 player.

I had the gc version when as a kid, game was fun. A few years back, I found one of the bands that had samples used for some of the music. It's a band called Stratovarius, there's 3 songs by them that i noticed was sampled for budokai. I forget the 3rd, but 2 of them was hunting high and low, and infinity.

It’s too late to tell them to put Bardock now. They didn’t put Bardock in because We didn’t ask them to. I know You being Honest with Your Negative Opinions, but they can’t fix this game after it’s came out Years ago. I respect Your Opinion.

You know, you say this game missing the buu saga is bad and in restrospect I kinda agree since it is part of the show but you also say it feels like the story is missing it’s crucial final chapter and feels incomplete because of it. I don’t think I agree there because before I ever watched the anime all I had was this game. So for awhile I thought it ended at the cell saga and it felt very complete like nothing was missing. By the time I got to watch the anime and saw the buu saga I was like ??? Why is this here it ended so well after the cell games. The buu saga kinda undoes all the closure of the cell games and has a lot of terrible writing in my opinion. So idk I kinda think it’s better the game ends at the cell games. Also you don’t have to just use the shop to get skills, as a kid I used to replay story missions for new skills.
