so this goes on top of the wooden floor boards - but you haven't answered what flooring can be put on top of this. For example, what about carpet or LVT? And is this better than traditional carpet underlay? Would be REALLY useful to know what this underlay Craig laid is made of, where you can get it from, how much it costs etc etc

This is not for carpet. Looks like 5mm foam. B&Q about £3.00 M2

Sorry, yes you can put hardwoods, soft woods, laminates, if you wanted to lay carpets or LVT you'd have to lay a layer of 6mm ply over the foam first, taping all the joints and leaving a 14mm expansion gap around the outside edge or shirts
