Amazing videos. The only neg. comment I could leave is your intro/intermission sounds are really loud :P Thanks for all the amazing educational data! One of the best youtubers I've found and you get right to the point, and when you dont, you leave good timestamps so I can skip over what I already know. Awesome!
Thanks for another great video bro! Quick question -- a problem I'm running into as a newcomer in the photogrammetry space is my monitoring systems (iPad, iPhone) overheating due to hot outdoor temps. Have you encountered this, and what have you done to mitigate it?
I have encountered this, I recommend staying in shaded areas when operating your drone (have the control and IPad in the shade). Additionally, I will position my vehicle in a way where I can maintain VLOS and be inside of that car with the A/C on to keep my devices cool. One last option is to strap an ice pad (like one you would put in a cooler to keep food cold) to the back of the metal on an Ipad and that tends to work pretty well!
@@DylanGorman Awesome, I appreciate the feedback! I've never really had a problem with the DJI apps but the first time I mapped with DroneDeploy my phone stopped working mid-mission due to overheating 🤷♂ Since then I've been careful about where I'm situated while piloting and have been able to avoid thermal shutdowns.
Still working on it! I want to make sure all the information is up to date and accurate before releasing it! Be sure to create and account on my website www.pilotbyte.com to see when it goes live!
Hey Dylan is it worth buying M30T for photogrammetry? Its tempting....fast ready to go. Smaller and easier to use. :) And, correct me if im wrong - its cheaper than Matrice 300 with P1? What's Your opinion? Thanks and congrats on another great video. Cheers from Poland
M30T is designed for spot inspections and search & rescue missions. M300 RTK is built for mapping and really a medium duty utility drone that can carry all kinds of payloads. M30T is stuck with 2 payloads only that are basically the same minus one sensor. It really depends on the industry that you are wanting to get into in all honesty!
Hey Dylan I got an email from you YT account as a subscriber about some prize and to write to You on telegram? Is that really you? Are You aware of that? ;)
Thanks for this video, you’ve finalised my decision and just placed the order for the P1. Very excited to start exploring the possibilities. What software would you recommend?
@@DylanGorman sorry should have made that a bit clearer! Took delivery of the P1 today, comes with a 6 month DJI Terra licence but I only have Mac so can’t use it. Need something for processing, like the pay as you go idea of Reality Capture but again it’s not on Mac, pix4d and dronedeploy are just too expensive for current volume of work, so basically trying to find processing software that works on mac with a per use payment model with decent analysis tools
I am in the process of choosing a drone which will probably be the Air2s. I honestly really wanted the Mavic 3 for the great image quality, dynamic range (for delighting) and battery life, but with no SDK in the near future I am reluctant to get it. And to fly and capture big mapping missions will be far too risky. I would be so great full to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think the M3 will get SDK support?
Great video! Would be nice to see how a custom gimbal for a Sony A Series camera compares to the P1. Although a more complicated setup for someone just getting in the game it could be a good compromise on price until able to upgrade to a P1.
I'm simply looking for a drone with gimbal that takes good pictured for large prints.... is this overkill? Like, why don't Dji have a pro drone with a high end camera for photos only..
There is actaully another configuation of this drone that I would recommend for exactly what you are wanting to do. It has a 61mp camera and will allow you to change the lenses on it.
nice video...Ive been using the x7 lens (16mm and 35mm lenses)...so tired of the "green photos" associated with using the X7. Time to make the move to to a dedicated mapping drone. 👍
I’ve heard that’s been a huge issue with the x7 and mapping. I had to by and x5s for one of my pilots because he had gone through 3 x7 cameras and they all went bad!
@@DylanGorman photogrammetry architecture. I was looking at sony drone its overpriced. I have experience with old hexa and octo. But dji have very nice plug and play software. I am now in dillem, made custom heavy lifter with sony camera or go with P1. Also all sony cameras have electric shutter? That is bad?
@@DylanGorman thanks, I just checked dji matrice body, controller and p1 camera 22k$ i will close the door behind me 🤣 waaay out of my budget 🙂 looks like somebody is going to build new custom one 🙂
You think it will ever be possible to use a mini 3 with any photogrammetry? Or are there any other money making uses for a mini 3 if photogrammetry is not going to happen
@@DylanGorman thanks for the reply man. Appreciated. In general is the 210 series limited to the cameras that were around when it was released then? Was considering picking one up.
@@utopian666 Supported DJI Zenmuse payloads for M210v2 are X4S (20MP 1” sensor, mechanical shutter, discontinued), X5S (20MP Micro Four Thirds sensor, electronic shutter), X7 (24MP Super 35 sensor, dual shutter), XT2 (Thermal Camera, discontinued) and Z30 (Optical Zoom). DJI limit which payloads are compatible with which drone, but you may find better third party payloads for your needs
Another vote up for the M300, the ability to swap cameras. As much as I like the , M30 solution, for the price/versatility, the M300, keeps coming up as the better choice, my wallet crying notwithstanding...:( I just wish, DJI would give the M30, this much versatility.

Check out WebODM. You can run it in a virtual machine environment and allocate as much processing power as you need
I think i've just convinced work to buy one of these things. Looking forward to trying it out. Going to try and build a 3d model of all of our sites.

I thought the Mini 2 wasn't supported by Drone Deploy
For automated mission flying its not, I used a 3rd part app to fly the Mini 2 and then used Drone Deploy to process the data!

I’m hoping M30 gets some new sensors! M300 and it’s battery life are amazing though so it’s hard to see how the m30 would be better
The drones were not flown at the same elevation so the GSD would have been different if they had the same camera.
