A kyudo master once told me that learning to miss is often more important than hitting. In kyudo, hitting is not even the main object of the activity. Thanks for putting up this video, Jim. You remind me of that kyudo master from years back.
Thanks Jim. I was loosing day After day my passion for traditional archers by aiming with my point. You made me realized that After all, pleasure was the main goal, not points 😊
What you are talking about, directly relates to maturity and self confidence. I've noticed here in America, most archers are also hunters, and for some reason they seem to be really insecure, and worry way too much about appearance and masculinity. When I shoot in Europe, especially Germany and Austria, this seems to be way less of an issue. On the parkour courses in Germany, I notice much more willingness to help each other, more openness and honesty. Here in the US, I usually notice groups of archers crowding each other on the 3-D course. Snickering at someone else's miss. I had one guy tell me brightly colored arrows are for beginners and losers. His arrows were all como because he never misses an animal or bale. Honesty and maturity go together like salt and eggs. I sure miss shooting in Europe!
yes, yesterday i was thinking about my past and actual performances (decrease) and it was only 45 minutes training, but very analytic : check the tiller, the string heigth, the button, the tension, the position of the viewfinder of the bow ... the position : relax, aligned shoulders, wait 20-30 seconds between each shot, and the last and most important thing : the release !! my 2 last series (3 arrows) found the yellow zone at 18 meters (28 and 29 points) sometimes, just take the time to breath !
Missing... I've never heard of it... I have totally never broken dozens of arrows. It happens to all of us, especially when learning new equipment or just not being in the right frame of mind. The thing I love about trad archery is that there is always something to improve and something to work at!
sorry i missed it when it was first released. i miss a lot unfortunately. i count my self lucky when i harvest an animal. i miss targets for sure but missing a hunting opportunity is way worse
I once spent a whole morning missing the boss at 80 yards with a flatbow, to the point that people at the club cheered just because I didn't put the arrow in the grass 😀
Sage advise! I believe that the social media world sometimes gives us unrealistic expectations. I became "OK" with missing a long time ago (if you could see me shoot, you would know why!).
Live archery, Love archery, Laugh when you screw up! While weed wandering playing hid-n-seek with a stray arrow my son has reminded me that had I hit the target I wouldn't be out here searching for it!
I missed a LOT today! The more frustrated I got, the more I missed! But I shot really, really good yesterday! The hard part is to walk away when I'm having a bad day. I want to keep shooting - hoping I'll get it straightened out, but that's NEVER the way it goes! LOL! Such is life . . .
I shoot trad bows Jim, hells toenails mate, I’ve had more misses than I care to remember, some days I’m pleased if I actually hit somewhere on the target, it happens, great vid by the way 🏹
Just get a target big enough and close enough that you ll never miss. You can then stay in that comfort zone the rest of your life and tell everyone 'I never missed a shot ever'. But you will have achieved what exactly?
I plan on missing😂 All my arrows are neon yellow with judo points and lighted nocks, as most my shooting is stumping/bottle/trash ect. ect. shooting. I even shoot my targets with judos. Takes the worry of loosing arrows away so an outing is more enjoyable, I started archery as a kid 30 years ago too. Keeps the passion strong when missing/loosing arrows is not a worry. Tech tip...have a cold beer before you shoot😂🍻
I never miss . . . my arrow always goes exactly where I sent it . . . in the bullseye or off the target . . . exactly where I sent it! Like you Jim . . . I'm only human!
Wise words Jim. You have literally explained the definition of the route to success, just translated into archery. Behind every success is a failure. Those most successful failed the most time, but they have found out how many times they needed to fail to succeed at the end. And with misses in archery...you're right, one can have good laugh if it's not taken too seriously. This video is a very sober and realistic view at everyday life, and there is a lot of wisdom to be taken on board. Thank you for that.
Bear , I've had a couple friends that have purchased the iron mind series by Joel Turner and have went from freezing, missing, snap shooting and various problems. His system works ,I have seen it fix the worst case scenario to hitting the target as consistently as anyone could expect. This is mainly for the person that shot for years and their shooting from good to worse , then to the point of quitting.
I don't mine missing the bullseye. I just hate missing the entire thing and have to look for my arrow.
You're right. Nobody is perfect. There's no guarantee of a hit or a miss. We just try our best and learn.

When I hear you talk. Misses and Mrs sound exactly the same. Can’t stop thinking about it. Cracked me up.👍👍
Very reassuring Jim. Many thanks from a prolific misser.
Thanks Jim for making me realize that most archery videos a a bit like the adult film industry.
😅
Jim, your lesson is so true…and the most important …your final words..Have fun🏹🏹. Archery regards grom switzerland martin
Well I started late getting my bow and I've been practicing weather permitting so I have a few days of practice to get in my ground blind and Hunt.
Thanks Jim. I was loosing day After day my passion for traditional archers by aiming with my point. You made me realized that After all, pleasure was the main goal, not points 😊

This is something I definitely need to try and remind myself from time to time.
This is why I love #bowsanderrors she's just so brutally honest and open about her archery
Thank you!
I wish that more people would talk about how cool I am on all of Jim’s videos 😀🌭
Grazie
I've had some truly hilarious misses. Some of the most fun I've had have been with the bad shots
I always have an odd shot out of 5. There's always one...at least ....that goes off a bit.
Aw too true. I had a nightmare at the Dutch 3D Championships yesterday. It got so ridiculous it was hard not to laugh about it
Every course has at least one target with an invisible force field.

I don't miss... I'm telling you those artificial deer can duck! 😂🦌
Great video pal . Love the paddle on the bow rack 🏹😂👏
Well said 👍
sorry i missed it when it was first released. i miss a lot unfortunately. i count my self lucky when i harvest an animal. i miss targets for sure but missing a hunting opportunity is way worse
You didn't miss with this! 😁
missing is my second nature😂😂
I've never missed in my entire life. But I'm only aiming to have fun.

If we hit all the time , what would be the point
Great content Jim
love this video man
Thank you!
I’m just glad somebody still watches em 😅

I went out to shoot at my box and I managed to miss all 3 of my first arrows after that I managed to hit it dead centre

Hello how have you been? I do miss a lot lol. I seem to not be able to shoot like I used to. Stay safe and healthy
I've seen plenty of misses in public restrooms.

"I never miss, because I don't shoot 😎" jen y

Nice vid Jim, I don't think you'll offend anyone with this. If I didn't miss so much, I'd of been in Italy too! Still only spectating 🤣
Is that a ben pearson spoiler on your bow rack? Second from top .
Well spotted!
I have that one, and many other bps, great bows
I never miss because i never go out and shoot.
500iq move
Real archery is looking for arrows. Haha have to agree. But how many arrows must I sacrifice to the God of the field?! Soooooo many arrows 😅
I never miss its just my arrow that goes another place that the one im aiming at so i hit another thing instead. No misses here 😂🤣
Personally, I never miss ....
then again I'm shooting 12 inches from the target!
Missing is fine but missing 4 shots out of 5 EVERY time is absolutely infuriating after awhile.

Great advice👍.
The only one that comes to mind that always hit their mark is Jesus Christ who is God in flesh.
John 1:1-14.😊
Don't forget Chuck Norris. He always scores 25.
You're over thinking she shoot the arrow and shoot some more and you're get better try shooting at a moving target not all animals stay in one place.
You're only going to miss if you can't judge distance
