The thing is... Lovelyz may not be that popular internationally with fans, but they sell in Korea and are on the medium popularity scale, with a decent fan base. They are surviving in the tough Kpop market and being popular in your domestic home market is better than not being popular at all. As a fan from the UK, I couldn’t be anymore prouder of these 8 hardworking girls. We have sold over 10K albums in less than 2 days. So proud!
Most int fans are not into cute concepts. that's why u sense that they're not popular because they don't get millions of views etc. But they have good sales and events gigs in Korea.

Finally main dancer Mijoo has her own dance break. I don't know if it is just me or not who feel this way, but I used to feel that Mijoo almost never gets treatment as main dancer in Lovelyz's choreographies before.

Internationally, they are just ordinary girl group with cutesy concept, perhaps their company is not promoting them overseas and western 'audience' is not used to cutesy girl group, but their popularity in Korea is no joke. They are not underrated girl group, its just majority of international kpop fans only focused on the spotlights from big companies, to me they are really pure KPOP idol group that is not being 'westernised' and truly represent KPOP culture. Sadly people nowadays only wanted those savage badass concepts, not even knowing what is truly unique.
Also trying to promote far like in Europe or even overseas on the American continent can be somewhat risky financially and kind of overwhelming since both EU and America are very heavy contestants. The audience taste is very different so its hard to bring something "new" and not be laughed at, just take for example how much Americans thinks Japan is weird as hell. There are some key cities tho that Woolim can target or at least take a good look at, Montreal has tons of different music festivals each year which groups from around the world can attend to and it is also very open to every cultures so that's one city they could look at. New-York is not far from Montreal (8 hours drive) with K-con there and yes its becoming more and more popular each year. Fromis_9 went there this summer for K-con with the cute song DKDK and people were screaming so yeah the "cutesy" concept can even work out here.
I agree. What used to be typical or niche, is not really typical in this generation, making Lovelyz a rare gem. They just generalize Lovelyz as a 'cutesy gg' just because the group's theme isn't dark or heavy, either in music or imagery/visuals. It's sad that the original identity of K-Pop is like extinct now by how much it is westernized compared to before. So, I'm glad Woollim, their company, is more or less one of the companies that has been able to preserve it.
Coming back here after two years i realized that Lovelyz's music is beautiful and unique to only them. That makes me appreciate their music more, and it never gets old whenever i come back to listen again
Let's appreciate the song, the instrumental tho!! it is like the new trendy kpop realm of girl group songs, so many happening and with Lovelyz vocals it works really well. Phenomenally a 10/10! Gonna listen to it again and again.

They are not underrated girl group, its just majority of international kpop fans only focused on the spotlights from big companies, to me they are really pure KPOP idol group that is not being 'westernised' and truly represent KPOP culture. Sadly people nowadays only wanted those savage badass concepts, not even knowing what is truly unique.

The audience taste is very different so its hard to bring something "new" and not be laughed at, just take for example how much Americans thinks Japan is weird as hell.
There are some key cities tho that Woolim can target or at least take a good look at, Montreal has tons of different music festivals each year which groups from around the world can attend to and it is also very open to every cultures so that's one city they could look at.
New-York is not far from Montreal (8 hours drive) with K-con there and yes its becoming more and more popular each year.
Fromis_9 went there this summer for K-con with the cute song DKDK and people were screaming so yeah the "cutesy" concept can even work out here.

I agree. What used to be typical or niche, is not really typical in this generation, making Lovelyz a rare gem. They just generalize Lovelyz as a 'cutesy gg' just because the group's theme isn't dark or heavy, either in music or imagery/visuals.
It's sad that the original identity of K-Pop is like extinct now by how much it is westernized compared to before. So, I'm glad Woollim, their company, is more or less one of the companies that has been able to preserve it.
Coming back here after two years i realized that Lovelyz's music is beautiful and unique to only them. That makes me appreciate their music more, and it never gets old whenever i come back to listen again
They deserve all the rainbows and glitter in the world.
