I hate that these “analysts” say “same old Sam Darnold”. “Sam Darnold has not played in a playoff game.” Who did he have on those teams to help him?? Let’s be objective.
This is how the Vikings SHOULD go about this. Re-sign Darnold for 2 to 3 years. They have a SB caliber team, they are able to compete with the Lions right now, SB windows don't stay open forever, great players on a roster get older, keep Sam and try to win a SB. In all that time JJ gets to sit, watch, and learn the aim is for him to be like Jordan Love who needed those years behind A-Rod to become who he is now. There will definitely be some bumps on the road when they make the transition but it is the best possible way to go about their future
Problem is Darnold is only 27, not 37/38 like Rodgers was. Darnold hasn’t even entered his prime yet. This isn’t a packers situation. If Darnold replicates what he did this season next year, trade JJ and go all in on Darnold and this Super Bowl window. Cuz you can’t sell to a locker room going from Darnold to an average team. I don’t think Jj even at his best eclipsing what Darnold is going right now.
Coaching does matter. That's why Sam is playing well. Why would any team who doesn't have that type of coach sign him? He's still a risk of going back to being a bad QB. This conversation should be put on hold until the end of the playoffs.
Coaching along with top talented team mates is why he has played up to this high level! Darnold has top talent, whereas Case Keenum had major limitations, so the Vikings let him walk! And look how Case Keenum's journey went since that one and done season in Minnesota! Darnold could experience the similar outcome if he leaves for the bag!
It takes all to make it work. You don't break up the band and you don't try to find a new one. Sam knows the other side of how the NFL is and I doubt he wants to go back to another bad spot just for a huge payday that will end his career. Both sides will get a deal done that keeps Sam in Minnesota and also allows them to move on to JJ if he wins the QB spot outright. Having two quality options is rare and Minnesota with its cap space and Sam knowing he's in a great spot will get a contract done. It won't end well for either party if they split.
McCarthy didn't tear his ACL. He tore his meniscus. They chose to go the long term healing route because he's young but it's nowhere near as bad as an ACL tear. He's already on his feet, in the meetings and working in the VR room.
If they have a better season next year and get one game further in the playoffs it’ll cost them more. It’s hard to sell to the Locker room going from Super Bowl contenders to an average team. JJ isn’t in the top QB in his class and I don’t even think he will reach what Darnold has even in this season. Plans change. Darnold is finally in a functional offense with one of the best OL and skill players in football and hasn’t even hit his prime yet. I say you trade JJ to a QB hungry team since the draft sucks this year and get a high pick.
I am an eagles fans and i would talk sam over HURTS any day of the week, at least he can throw a football. Unlike my trash overrated glorified running back of QB.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Hurts is overrated and unless u watch Sam play you won't b able to appreciate the things he does well. Ppl act like any qb that has played for the jets or Carolina in the last 10yrs was successful. Not too mention coaching matters and KOC is great at developing qbs.
The place the Darnold has the Vikings in it’s gonna be hard to sell to the offense that they’re letting Sam walk and going with our rookie QB coming off a serious injury when they were cooking this season. Darnold hasn’t even hit his prime yet
A far greater likelihood with McCarthy after saying goodbye to Sam than Sam himself going backwards. It’s amazing how determined some of these sports commentators are at hanging on to a negative mindset about an individual player rather than to analyze and critically weigh evidence being demonstrated now, in the present.
@@pjmlegrandeso lets say you resign darnold and he keeps playing like this which i think jj can literally do what sam is doing right now based on the tape its not crazy
The hope is. JJ is young enough to sit and learn and let the known stay known. The odds aren't great for JJ to do what Sam is doing as a rookie. While he has talent, he's not a sure thing or a known at this point. It would be a career ender for KAM and KOC to not bring back Sam and role with an unknown rookie coming off a season ending knee surgery. If they wanted to roll with JJ they wouldn't have ever brought Sam in to begin with.
If he ended up with 14_3 or even 13_4 he's earned the qb1 job man and he deserve to be back for next season jj is not going to have these type of success and he can learn more
Shady generally has good takes, but this one just smacked of disrespect. It's clear he's made up his mind about Darnold, even though he was drafted by a dysfunctional organization that can't develop rookie QBs, then was traded to another dysfunctional organization in Carolina. At this point we are just now seeing the Darnold that should have justified his draft spot years ago. Shady says give the rookie some respect like they've shown Darnold, but honestly, at this point it should be "prove to me who's going to be the better starting QB in 2025." So yeah, if it works out, sign Darnold for 2-3 years.
He needs to keep quiet before they bring the Caleb Williams topic and he has nothing to say because he was disrespectful and running his mouth about Justin Fields and Caleb Williams hasn’t done sh** this season.
I would 100% pay Sam a million times before EVER paying Kirk Cousins. It’s not even close - the “We know who they are” argument could basically work on every active QB not named Mahommes or Stafford. Or Rodger’s. I guess he is still active too. Those are basically the only ones to win a Super Bowl, so if that is your criteria - Lamar was not worth paying - Allen, Burrow, and Dak all not worth paying.
This. I don’t think he will and right now, he has them as Super Bowl contenders. I say trade JJ and sign Darnold to a Baker Mayfield deal. I’m sure Darnold will probably stay with the Vikings.
If KOC can have Darnold playing like this, I fully trust him to have McCarthy playing good ball too. Absolutely no one thought Darnold was going to be playing well this season and yet KOC has gotten it out of him.
Let Sam walk, then the JJMC experiment 'll be under a lot of pressure and if he doesn't pan- out they 'll run Kewsi and our idole KOC out of town. KOC needs certain level of TALENT to produce a today's Darnold. Why J. Hall; Mullins; Doubs and even Cousins aren't elite QBs. TODAY Darnold is an elite QB. In the right system Darnold 'll lead a team to a SB win, I hope it's the vikings.
I say, wait until we see what he does in the playoffs. If he wins one game and takes the next down to the wire in a loss - keep him. If he loses the first game, then you can move on. The rookie is more of a mystery and he COULD end up being one of those guys who is easily hurt and who stays hurt. So, you know what you have in Darnold right now, but the rookie is a toss up.
Chase Daniels doesn’t know anything about the QB market if he thinks Darnold will get anything less than 35M per year.. And why are they comparing him to Daniel Jones when Jones never had anything close to this production? A better comparison would be Geno Smith.. Darnold should get a contract similar to his
You can say what you want it was the right move keenum turned into a pumpkin in the playoffs and played like a journeyman the year after when he got paid by Denver
Nah , he's right. Getting rid of keenum wasn't smart. Denver gave keenum 45mil we showered Kirk over and over for 1 or two playoff wins with over 250 mil. Not smart by Vikings
@@bigda6407 Denver was so desperate for a QB they way over paid Keenum and never got anywhere with him! Keenum has been just a backup talent since leaving the Vikes!
Ok but was that a bad thing Jayden won the heisman and Caleb and was thought of has a great Qb drake was very good and no box look good and penix have not played yet
Since Daniels, Caleb, Drake and Nix all look like they could work out for their team in the long run, the odds are that McCarthy probably won't just based on history of 1st round QB's. There is never a year where they all end up being good.
@@gb4352 they're all looking good to me. The facility kept repeating JJ was taken 4th (QBs). That's where my comment came from. Full disclosure, I'm a Vikings fan and will be at the game Monday night 🌙
I have seen many QBS have a banner season. If we go to playoffs and are one and done i guarantee you fans will be looking at McCarthy. I've been a Vikings fan for 45 years and I'm very leery. We need to see how he does down the stretch before we make a commitment !
Shady forgot to mention the Eagles who were in a similar situation. When they chose their first round pick over Foles, who had a bad rookie start and a really bad head coach. Instead of going with Foles, they chose to stay with the rookie who also had a season ending injury and would continue to be injury prone.
As a Vikings Fan that follows the team closely, I've watched several of these debates and have yet to hear anyone mention anything about the common denominator between Sam Darnold, Kirk Cousins, and all the QBs in between which have all had the best season of their career under Kevin O'Connell. He's what makes these QBs successful along with the offense around them. Some team will Sign Darnold to a nice deal, and KOC will once again be successful with McCarthy under center because it's what he does.
Draft Means nothing. Mahomes was drafted top 10 and sat a year. Rodgers was first round and so was love both sit 3years. Make these rookies wait before you start them that’s what bad teams stay bad and ruin QBs. Imagine if the Colts sat Luck and ran with Peyton and built the line and team from there. Lick never would’ve gotten all those injuries and probably is still playing in his 30s
Arod had to sit behind Farve, proving that JJ can sit and let Sam take the helm next season and give the Vikings a little time to evaluate JJ to see if he is ready.
Sometimes it depends on situation..Ala Geno Smith who went from a basket case to productive and disciplined Quarterback..Morphed himself into a $100 million QB and he is underpaid if you grading on a curve !!!
honestly, Shady's take one Sam being like Danny Jones is laughable... he will end the season with over double the amount of TDs DJ had that year. but his take on JJ McCarthy is spot on. KOC took Sam and has him at 11 wins already. Look what he did last year with Dobbs. His system elevates QBs and working with a rookie contract could help fill out the team even more than it already is.
Weren’t they all the same ones saying that the Viking with Darnold were going to be last in their Division when JJ went down? Now they’re 2nd and they don’t want to give anyone props. He’s leading them to a better record than Cousins did.
I think it's silly to compare Vikings with the Giants. Coaching matters. I think it's pretty well proven by this point that KOC knows how to get the most out of any QB he has. Darnold's ceiling is WAY higher than anything Keenum had. Even if this is Darnold's ceiling, it's amazing if he can keep up this pace. Honestly, I think he can go a bit higher still. I think Daniel Jones might actually be an interesting play here. Maybe Darnold does walk, but can KOC develop DJ in a similar was as Darnold to help support JJ?
I remember Keyshawn telling Skip that he can tell a reporter. I can do what you do but you can’t do what I do. James and Shady are proof that Keyshawn was wrong. When you don’t do your research you just look ridiculous. Look at the coaching staffs and look at what was going on with the jets and panthers organizations. No QB’s have succeeded there in the last number of years. If an organization is dysfunctional, it’s going to hurt a young QB. James and Shady know this , they’re legit worse than Keyshawn. Skip was easily better than the 2 of them.
Keyshawn is right. Anybody can research topics but who are the only people with perspective outside of research & journalism? The players. So yes Keyshawn can do all the journalism and research skip does while having true knowledge of the game and what goes on behind the scenes as a player that ppl like skip would never know. But I do agree with you that to be former players these mfs takes be garage a lot.
@ but that’s my thing Athletes don’t take the time to do the actual research because they think they know everything when in reality they sound ridiculous. If shady and James did their research like Acho and Chase did, they would understand why it’s vital for young qbs to go to stable organizations. It can set a rookie back for years Shady and James should KNOW better.
Making good points. We seen too many players, get signed to a king’s ransom, then never earn it. My guess is, he will stay for a team friendly deal and the Vikings will see if JJ can be a starter next year.
"Giants, Jets, Browns, Raiders..." Um, no. Subtract the Giants and Jets. Sam ain't goin' back to New York no how, no way. Jets wrecked Darnold, and Giants just finished wrecking Daniel Jones, who just arrived at KOC's QB Rehab University. Neither one of those guys wants to play on an East Coast team anytime soon. I did like the compromise idea: Pay Sammy $25M per year, 2 years. Then you get possible peak Darnold, while not getting too down on JJ McCarthy. Leaves some cap money to bolster the defense, maybe get a better RG. Advantage for Sammy is, he gets another year or two in the best possible system for him to grow and show, while Vikes get a team-friendly deal. This makes JMac and Jones as insurance policies, and later as starter/backup.
You absolutely commit to him for at least next season. There's no telling what McCarthy will look like in the NFL, and it could turn out to be not as good. See if the the guy holds up to this level next year (and how he does in the playoffs). A two year deal, or franchise tag should buy enough time to see if he looks like their guy... and you hope he stays healthy and you get to see him for two full seasons to evaluate him.
I agree with James Jones. Short term, go with Sam Darnold, once JJ McCarthy is healthy go to him. Let Sam go somewhere and get paid like Geno or Baker and hope it works out for him.
As a Vikings fan it is becoming a good problem to decide if we should sign Sam back lol. Daniel Jones good season can’t compare to Sam’s season this year. I would be happy if they do but I would be good if we don’t. I say 2 years and that’s it but Sam has definitely earned him some money and I don’t think he’s the same player with the Jets and Panthers. Coaching in the NFL MATTERS!!!
The irony is, this is nothing new for the Vikings as a franchise. Cunningham in '98, George in '99, Favre in '09, Keenum in '18. QB's on a second chance who play extremely well for ons season...let him go get his money from another team and ride with McCarthy - he's the future.
If Darnold continues to produce and improve, we need to sign him to a long term deal. Our dream QB may have just dropped in our lap. He's plenty young and has everything Cousins provided PLUS better escape ability. He has steadily improved this season, and it ain't over. Now, so we don't get completely carried away here we have to note that all the Vikings 2024 wins so far have been against teams without winning records. But don't call them frauds, just slightly flawed. Imperfect, but capable of amazing production on both sides of the ball. JJ McCarthy is on his rookie deal, so we don't need to worry about finding Darnold's successor, he's here already. Injury sidelined him this year. He was highly rated and KOC expresses nothing but praise & love for him. There's no real downside to bringing Sam back for a couple more years if he'd like to stay in the longship and man the rudder. That gives us a couple more years for KOC to fine tune McCarthy and get him a few snaps or series here and there. I understand Sam will be more costly than signing a journeyman placeholder to ease the transition to McCarthy. But Darnold is proving to be a very good starting quarterback, maybe top 6 or 7. And McCarthy only holds promise, which means he hasn't actually done anything. Yet. Things are looking good here in Minnesota, SKOL! ☠😈😈😈😈😈☠ 👾
Everyone is way too quick to throw rookie QBs out there. The packers have shown multiple times that letting rookies sit, learn, and develop has the best outcome
To invest in Darnold would be like investing in those old Ford Taurus. You can get a good year out of it, but the transmission is likely to go out. Would i break the bank for that??? Tough question.
Love how acho said JJ wouldn’t have gotten any snaps but that just proves how much you guys push the Vikings to the side, there was steam coming out of camp that JJ Mcarthy might have gotten the week one start, so I think you need to do your research a little better instead of trying to give takes on a team you can’t stand talking about unless your forced to when they are 11-2
Daniel Jones was playing with a bottom 5 roster with practice squad WRs!!!!! Most coaches left after 22 n Kafka ran a completely different offense that Daboll wanted to run in 23-24!!!!!!! Minnesota is a far better Team with a far better COACH with far better WRs!!!!! Y’all are RIDICULOUS!!!
yall need to put some respect on McCarthy's name. He's won more than Darnold and DESERVES his opportunity to lead this team. If Sam can succeed in this environment, I'm willing to bet that McCarthy can achieve the same results or more. As a Vikings fan, I would 100% get the McCarthy show going over keep rolling with Sam. I wouldn't even bench him for Sam next year because you're just wasting time and experience on someone that isn't in your future. Let the young blood cook and learn. Let's see what the kid is made of. Like Shady said, "WE KNOW WHAT SAM IS".
Compare it to Geno. I wasn't a Darnold believer and but you can't ignore how well he played this season. Thos year is nothing like Jomes year, not even comparable. Darnold clearly suffered lolr sp many from being to young and going to the Jets.
Signing him to a mid tier salary is a smart play. You need to play the what if game, what if Mccarthy doesn't look healthy, what if he gets hurt again, you atleast end up in a spot to be relevant and generate some team hype, maybe you can't win a superbowl with darnald but you can atleast win some games
I kept calling Sam a bust PRIOR to this year but he made a believer thus year that he can lead a team with weapons like he has this year. I'd keep him one more year and let J.J. watch and learn.
The thing is JJ at best is a good quarterback. He didn't carry Michigan when they went to the National Championship. At least keep Darnold for 1 year and after that let him go.
They should keep Sam at least next year he earned that much playing in Minnesota, who knows what he looks like in a different system coaches etc another year in this system would maximize his performance ?
Sam first played for the Jets…how have the QBs looked since. Then he went to Carolina…How was that team. Then he went to 49ers and he looked really good(comfortable) when he did play. Now he’s found a home and looks like a franchise QB. I would franchise tag him, see how he does and if it’s not a fluke, I pay him.
Team is good because yes Sam but they were able to build a competitive team due to the low cap hit of Sam. Cheap QB = competitive team due to the free agent defensive pick ups.
I am not here to defend Darnold but comparing him to Jones is absurd Shady. Jones never showed he could be a good QB in the league. he could run but that was it. And let's not act like you weren't saying pay Hurts after 1 great season by him. Minny would be smart to resign Darnold for a good chunk of change for 3 years. I am not a huge fan of his but if he got you to the playoffs when you were not expected to be, he has earned it.
Its more about what the couch staff feels, if they think they can go further with jj McCarthy then sam then the front office goes with that because this coach staff proven they can get the best out of any qb
I'd definitely pay him, sorry about your luck Mccarthy. They comparing him to Jones who threw for 15 TDS and won 10 games in his best season. They acting like Darnold isn't allowed to improve
That’s cool for the Vikings if I’m SD nothing short nothing cheap he’s playing better than Tua, Trevor , Deshaun, Jalen, and Dak he’s gonna get they’re type of contract deservingly so
Tag him and have McCarthy sit behind him. No long term commitment and you get to have your young guy sit behind him for longer and learn the system even more
The "commit" is to get Darnold under an extension first, then play him next year with McCarthy developing for a season. Then trade Darnold after next season to a desperate Team for a couple of top draft choices. McCarthy is your guy, hopefully, in 2026 for cheap, couple extra draft picks and salary cap heaven! You don't let him walk for nothing like stupid Kwesi did with Cousins!!! It's not that difficult

I hate that these “analysts” say “same old Sam Darnold”. “Sam Darnold has not played in a playoff game.” Who did he have on those teams to help him?? Let’s be objective.
If it's about the help, go with the cheaper qb and keep the help and add more with the money you're not spending
Darnold is going to get playoff experience this year
Sam Darnold has played in playoff games.
A lot of this also depends on how JJ heals. The Vikes have turned away from injured qbs before.
Coaching does matter.
That's why Sam is playing well.
Why would any team who doesn't have that type of coach sign him?
He's still a risk of going back to being a bad QB.
This conversation should be put on hold until the end of the playoffs.
He was with the 49ers last year and really looked sharp. I’m glad to see him doing well because coaching for sure matters
Minnesota should definitely run it back with Sam Darnold.
You almost have to commit when you have the chance. You can always look back and regret something because hindsight is 20/20
It all depends on how Darnold plays in the postseason.
@@redt7452 depends on a lot of things
Commit one more season for sure, let ole boy heal up from that ACL and study the offense for a full season. Then change it up
McCarthy didn't tear his ACL.
Wasn't an acl was a meniscus so not as major
JJ didn’t tear his ACL it was his meniscus, from a physical perspective there is not a single thing Darnold does better than JJ
@@juliusjean-baptiste924how do you know jj won’t be special he was balling out preseason
Jalen Hurts Been To Da Playoffs Every Year As A Starter Went To Da Superbowl And Was A All Pro Are Y’all Watching What I’m Watching
No one even acknowledging that Sam is doing all this without All Pro Left Tackle Darrisaw.
His ability to avoid the sack and make them pay is elite.
Problem is if they don’t and go backwards… it’ll be a huge mistake
Take the risk
It's crazy how this show grew on me this year, much love ❤
lol shady hit another octave with that “what?!?” 😂
I am starting to think shady needs to sit out on QB conversations.
@@ahastar1141 He needs to stick to Basketball talk and let the Grownups speak.
there’s not even a 25% chance jj mccarthy is ever as good as darnold right now
This. I don’t think he will and right now, he has them as Super Bowl contenders. I say trade JJ and sign Darnold to a Baker Mayfield deal. I’m sure Darnold will probably stay with the Vikings.
I agree. These knuckleheads can’t read stats apparently. Darnold has already set franchise records
LeSean McCoy should not have a analyst job
Chase Daniels doesn’t know anything about the QB market if he thinks Darnold will get anything less than 35M per year.. And why are they comparing him to Daniel Jones when Jones never had anything close to this production? A better comparison would be Geno Smith.. Darnold should get a contract similar to his
Speaking of Geno, he's 34 or 35, right?
Maybe Seattle is looking to move on from him and perhaps would be in the market for a QB?
Would be more like Baker Mayfield...33 million/year
Bruh said Brett Farve🤣🤣 Vikings ain’t never getting no playtime on that man’s tv screen
With their Head Coach and their Off Coordinator still together going forward. YES!!
They got rid of keenum for Cousins... lmfao
JJ was the FIFTH QB taken in his draft!!! Caleb, Jayden, Drake, Michael and then JJ
Ok but was that a bad thing Jayden won the heisman and Caleb and was thought of has a great Qb drake was very good and no box look good and penix have not played yet
And Bo Nix was taken 6th and is coming along pretty well now as a rookie.
Since Daniels, Caleb, Drake and Nix all look like they could work out for their team in the long run, the odds are that McCarthy probably won't just based on history of 1st round QB's. There is never a year where they all end up being good.
he also fell in the draft, was projected top 5. dude is good but his ceiling is nowhere near Sam’s level.
@@gb4352 they're all looking good to me. The facility kept repeating JJ was taken 4th (QBs). That's where my comment came from. Full disclosure, I'm a Vikings fan and will be at the game Monday night 🌙
Shady don’t believe in no type of development or improvement can take place, you just permanently are what you are 😂
He needs to stick to basketball talk.
Vikings’ fan here. I wholeheartedly agree with Shady!!
That would be a big NO they just drafted JJ top 10. Don't waste his rookie contract.
@King_kami36 idi**
Arod had to sit behind Farve, proving that JJ can sit and let Sam take the helm next season and give the Vikings a little time to evaluate JJ to see if he is ready.
This is perfect. Clip this. The season isn’t even over.
Thank you guys. finally a good legit conversation for Sam
It was less a conversation and more yelling from Shady who should just stick to talking basketball.
These guys talk in circles because nobody knows how it will play out until the season ends, PERIOD!!!
Sometimes it depends on situation..Ala Geno Smith who went from a basket case to productive and disciplined Quarterback..Morphed himself into a $100 million QB and he is underpaid if you grading on a curve !!!
Sam Darnald is the Caitlin Clark of the NFL
honestly, Shady's take one Sam being like Danny Jones is laughable... he will end the season with over double the amount of TDs DJ had that year. but his take on JJ McCarthy is spot on.
@ but that’s my thing
Athletes don’t take the time to do the actual research because they think they know everything when in reality they sound ridiculous. If shady and James did their research like Acho and Chase did, they would understand why it’s vital for young qbs to go to stable organizations. It can set a rookie back for years
Shady and James should KNOW better.

I Swear This Vikings Season Reminds Me Of That Year They Had Case Keenum
Making good points. We seen too many players, get signed to a king’s ransom, then never earn it. My guess is, he will stay for a team friendly deal and the Vikings will see if JJ can be a starter next year.
2026!
The real convo is do we really believe that JJ is that much better/ a franchise Super Bowl level guy. Cause……
Committing long term is risky, but also can't let him go when he's producing
To me the Vikings signing of Daniel Jones says they're Moving on from Sam Darnold,Jones is the insurance if McCarthy doesn't work out
The irony is, this is nothing new for the Vikings as a franchise. Cunningham in '98, George in '99, Favre in '09, Keenum in '18. QB's on a second chance who play extremely well for ons season...let him go get his money from another team and ride with McCarthy - he's the future.
Is McCarthy a GOOD future though?

Amazing how quickly fate can change....after that embarrassing first draft by Kwesi to now!
12:44 Shady fuming 😭😭😭😭😭😭
"He's never even played in a playoff game" dawg.. he played for the *Checks Notes*, Jets and the Panthers.
Love how acho said JJ wouldn’t have gotten any snaps but that just proves how much you guys push the Vikings to the side, there was steam coming out of camp that JJ Mcarthy might have gotten the week one start, so I think you need to do your research a little better instead of trying to give takes on a team you can’t stand talking about unless your forced to when they are 11-2
McCarthy never was going to start at the beginning of the season, and if he did, the Vikings would be 5-8 right now.
Chase said that because he wishes that would of happened to him lol except Darnold is good, Chase wasn’t..
Daniel Jones was playing with a bottom 5 roster with practice squad WRs!!!!!
Most coaches left after 22 n Kafka ran a completely different offense that Daboll wanted to run in 23-24!!!!!!!

Y’all are RIDICULOUS!!!
So far i hollar yes 4 sure...but it depends on how he/we (like im on the team) plays in the playoffs
yall need to put some respect on McCarthy's name.
They act like every QB starts out good and like football contracts are guaranteed. This is backwards Russell wilson and Matt Flynn,
If it is not broken, don’t try to fix it…
Sam has found is spot/niche in Minnesota…
Compare it to Geno.
I wasn't a Darnold believer and but you can't ignore how well he played this season. Thos year is nothing like Jomes year, not even comparable. Darnold clearly suffered lolr sp many from being to young and going to the Jets.
Last i checked Case Keenum got to NFC title game with Vikings. They opted not to pay him and go with Capt Kirk.
McCarthy only fell cuz he had the least amount of throws in college and didn’t think he could throw deep that preseason changed some minds
If you not a hall of famer or play for the eagles ,Bills and jets. Shady has completely no respect from them
Sam Darnold got that 1 yr with the 49ers to learn from an actual play caller and he brought that experience to the Vikings.
Coaching matters coaching matters coaching matters!!!
Make these rookie quarterbacks wait before you start them that way you can make your decision after you’ve seen them at practice.
He's earned a Geno Smith type contract.
Its more about what the couch staff feels, if they think they can go further with jj McCarthy then sam then the front office goes with that because this coach staff proven they can get the best out of any qb
6:54 I just remembered that's exactly what Shaq always says about coaching lol. Shady and Shaq got sum in common
I'd definitely pay him, sorry about your luck Mccarthy. They comparing him to Jones who threw for 15 TDS and won 10 games in his best season. They acting like Darnold isn't allowed to improve
That’s cool for the Vikings if I’m SD nothing short nothing cheap he’s playing better than Tua, Trevor , Deshaun, Jalen, and Dak he’s gonna get they’re type of contract deservingly so
Russel Wilson has been in the biggest, improbable games and won. Remember 2014 against Packers? He will make the difference when it counts.
If Jones and Lawrence got at least $40M, Darnold HAS to get more!
7:04 not to gas James but James was a very good number 2 who could’ve been a number 1, coaching had nun to do with jame leading the NFL in TD for WR’s
James Jones is insane if he thinks Sam Darnold's camp is going to take a one year deal after the season he's had.
Imagine how Jordan Love would of looked if he had to start his first 4 yrs
You can almost stick any qb in the Vikings offense and you’ll win
