- The Sony ICF-860 AM FM TV Band Portable Radio is a Sleeper! You can find these for Twenty USD all Day long on eBay. Would I recommend a Sony Radio from the Early 1990's ? Heck Yes! If analog TV was still active, this would be a great tool to listen to the FIFA World Cup, and also your soap operas on the major networks except NBC. Boy I miss analog TV sound on radio. C Crane, please please pretty please make a CC Skywave SSB DTV Digital portable radio AM FM WX Air SW SSB DTV bands. That's on my Christmas wish list.
C CRANE SKYWAVE and SKYWAVE SSB also have Japanese FM band (76 - 108 MHz) if AM tuning steps switched to 9 kHz (522 - 1620 kHz)..
The only DTV sound radio has been sold is Japan but ISDB-T 1SEG only. Also works in the Philippines and Brazil. 1SEG DTV channels from UHF 13 - 62 (BR/PH/US UHF DTV channels for ISDB-T: 14 - 63).
DTV channel 14 in 6 MHz bandwidth (473.000 MHz) same frequencies used for DVB-T/DVB-T2, DTMB, ATSC and ATSC 3.0. But ISDB-T and 1Seg uses 473.143857 MHz
BTW, If ELPA of Japan will make DTV sound but only in 1SEG ISDB-T. New upgrade of ELPA ER-C57WR with AM, FM, AIR, SW, and 1SEG. UHF 14 - 69 if FM set to 87 - 108 MHz and 10 kHz step for AM: 520 - 1710 kHz and UHF 13 - 62 if FM set to Japanese FM band of 76 - 108 MHz for FM, 522 - 1620 kHz for AM on 9 kHz steps.
As all you know, digital audio of ATSC, DVB-T/T2 and ISDB-T cannot decode each other as well as HD RADIO / CDR (China Digital Radio) and DRM on FM can’t decode together.
Once again you had me at Sony. This looks like a fantastic deal for around $20. AC plug, tone control and 90’s style nice.

I have this radio and I like it. Got it to compliment my Sony ICF-38.
I had mentioned I picked up the ICF-860 in your Daytime Sony ICF-36 band scan video a few years back.
I like the more 90's aesthetic of this, but I also like the ICF-36/38. All three are better looking than the ICF-24 in my opinion.
Over here in the UK, we never had TV Band radio. Only AM (LW, MW and SW), FM and now DAB/DAB+.
Analog TV in the UK only used on UHF
TV band radio only have VHF. VHF High (179 - 216 MHz) overlapped DAB band..
Russia still use Russian OIRT FM as also works with TV BAND radios from China and the US frequnecies..
Russia’s OIRT FM used 65 - 74 MHz, Japan used 76 - 95 MHz..
TV Band radio from the US also receives VHF TV band from Western Europe and also receives 8 analog channels until 2005.
Also receives 5 analog VHF TV channels in France until 2010, also in Ireland that also receives 7 analog VHF TV channels until analog TV shutoff.

Have you seen the new pocket Dreamsky on Amazon for $10.99? Another interesting one is branded Ratakee and takes 3 AA batteriesand has a CR 2032 bavkup battery. Thirs is a pocket am/fm/sw under the Rysamton brand. Thank you for all the fine videos.

I’m looking at a Sony IFC-750W on eBay and it doesn’t seemed to come up on RUclips . This is the closes but a different model possibly bc it’s a newer model or a higher model. Anyway, I just wanted to see a review and what year these came out or were made.
Oh and I see this has the tv option and why it’s a different model.
What country are you in and the radio sounds like you’re in England or Europe.?
Have the same case named ICF-860L version which is am/fm/sw/lw/mw. Seems like a little bit low output and distortion in audio comes a little bit early. Especially for low frequencies. Is it same for yours too sir ?
I believe so. It has been awhile since I have had this one out to tune around with.

Does the TV Band Work???
Japanese FM BETWEEN CHANNELS 4 - 6 and up to 95 Mhz (76 - 95 MHz) and Russian OIRT FM band (65 - 74 MHz) on channels 3 and 4. and Brazil also expanded FM band down to 76 MHz..
Bring this radio to Japan and tune to TV bands to tune to Japanese FM frequencies..
Radios in Japan have TV sound have to be expanded from 90 - 108 MHz..
Todderbert, after 1:30 in the morning - better get some sleep and Sony at that time frame was into those "purple" knobs.
Do they not make a radio that will pick up broadcast television? You can use a television antenna for a TV. Seems like you'd be able to listen to the audio somehow.

@@chriswideman1218 DTV sound radios are only in Japan but 1Seg ISDB-T: Logitec, Sony, Panasonic, etc.. UHF 13 - 62 (UHF 14 - 63 in Brazil).
Quality radio with the its a sony sticker the older radio.s are often much better units /
Todderbert.....Im fascinated by your videos....I too am a radio fan.....61 yrs. old....that explains it I grew up when radios sounded really good....separate bass /treble/loundness bass booster.ect... That being said I think I have tried nearly all the radios on amazon...some of them you have reviewed....12 radios in all ! I wanted a radio that could project talk radio well outdoors when I go outside doing yardwork...I have settled on 3 radios....returned all the others....the 3 I call keepers are prunus J 166 pocket.....It sounds great for a pocket size..... Im keeping the sayin SY8801...and the most impressive one for sound is something you are PROBABLY? not familiar with...on amazon @24$ with coupon....the ONGTEED TD _ 62.... its built on the same case as the HDI audio radio you reviewed.. which I also bought..THIS RADIO THE ONGTEED TD_62 HAS INCREDIBLE BRIGHT CLEAR sound ...for talk radio...or classical not much bass as it is a 3 in. speaker AND it has very responsive volume control...lots of volume...so to be fair I bought both sony icf 19 and 506.....they were nice but their sound was more of a muffled sound compared..... and on the sonys....I had to turn the volume up to 3/4 volume to equal the 1/4 volume on the ONGTEED TD _62 on amazon. Im returning the sonys nice quality.....and looks but I am impressed with the clear output on this radio.....I think you should try this radio! great buy at @24$
