remember kids the difference between science and messing around is writing it down! =) great video! quite informative.
Ha love it
Yeah hehe!
Helped me out quite a bit. I know I'm super late but I'm new to rival. Only own a few blasters. Still looking for an Apex lol.
"Next on 'Nerf For Science': Will firing HH Queen ammo from a Rival Sideswipe result in a self-tag? Find out, after these words from our sponsors!"
Either that or makes the gun lazer accurate at mid range.
Banana
Was about to ask the same question :-)
"Turnstile"
Uh huh.
@@novaiscool1 only if you have the hop downwards...
From a former Rocket Scientist (Aerospace Engineer), that was really well done. A little data never hurt anyone :)
No what did was his wallet after this
@@1bot674 lol
Man, just imagining a game round where everyone is forced to use that HHQueen ammo, the hilarious results would be something else 😁
That would be hilarious!
Or nothing but that and rejected, imbalanced Vortex rounds.....
@@txironhead8427 Don't forget stock elite dart.
You can't forget the cut up, crushed, and marked darts
You could be 10 feet from the broad side of a barn, aim as straight as humanly possible and still somehow miss.
Good timing with the Proton Pack coming out! I really need to restock on Rival.
Looks like we wil be needing another video like this sometime soon! The accustrike Rival ammo will most likely truly warrant a video like this, especially along with whatever new "more accurate barrels" the line has as well. Maybe look into getting one of those accuracy boards like Walcom has?
Would love to see X-Shot Chaos rounds in this comparison, as they are probably the most popular rounds here in Poland.
That maybe so, but they are not available at all in the USA right now.
@@CaptainXavier Well we have the same issue with DZ and AF, but I think you got the better side of it...😅🤣
That tank dump at the end is like watching a bunch of golf ball sized skittles just getting hosed down range it’s absolutely wonderful haha 😂
If you wanted to measure squishiness you could do something like, stack up 10 inside a 1" tube, then push a weight/spring/scale into the tube.
Hilarious! That 100 pack of red Dart Zone rounds was selling for 5$ Canadian at Walmart near Vancouver BC. Looks like I was smart and bought a 1000 of them
Extensive sciencing for the good of all!
Those HHQueen rounds were hilarious irregardless - but probably good for NERF claymores.
If nerf made a better Jupiter that acted also like the curve series that could have a k26 spring in and shot far the hhqueen rounds would be amazing especially if you had wind on that day
31:50 Captain's final attack: Bifrost - The Rainbow Bridge.
Confirms
Dart Zone best fps for (modded)Springers.
Yup, this confirms what I've observed as well.
i remember awhile ago out of darts wanted to try to find super light rival rounds to try to curve around a corner
I love that you’re going through this much work. Thank you for the data and analysis. This kind of work makes informed choices. It makes us all better.
But a proton pack appears to be a good way of separating HHqueen ammo form the rest.
Loved it! Thanks Cap.
It's great to know the deferences between the ammo.
This amount of dedication is inspiring. Thank you for this work!
Brilliant video SIR! I love Nerf for Science, it's really interesting from an engineering, hobbyist, and statistical standpoint. I would have loved to see some form of analysis on the hop-up of each brand's ammo, you could have measured the distance before the direction started to change and the angle at which it changed. Thank you Cap! 💜🧡🖤
Excellent video. This does remind me that I need to restock the rival ammo for the Maryland Nerf Herders.
perhaps when you end a video with needing your garden Weisel, you can film your cleaning and singing sea shanties.
XCSource seem very good for the price, and you can get them in yellow if you prefer that for visibility. Headshot you can get 200 for $26, so they're even cheaper if you're buying a bigger quantity.
Definitely useful information, I'm not short of Rival rounds right now but when I am looking to restock it won't be Nerf brand unless they are on sale, and it'd definitely worth checking around.
Thank you so much for putting all the work in to make this!
26:19 ahh yes the gravity today seams to be working as normal
wild idea: something like a nerf power suit where you have 2 prometheus on each side of your hip on a battle belt or a harness linked to a proton pack for a "infinite" supply of ammo and link the rev and fire triggers of each of the prometheus to a pair of stryfes for a terribly powerful and terribly heavy loadout.
Thanks for going through all the work sir. The Hi-Chew is in the mail
Theres nothing in the nerf world which you havent explain thank you THE most helpful nerf youtuber ever by far
I loved this! Thank you, Captain.
This got me thinking about those Zuru X-Shot Chaos Balls... and how I have Never seen a package of them in the wild
Weirdly enough they seem to have a better availability over here in Germany than in the states.
Indeed, they are not available at all in the USA, or I would have included them.
Awesome video! Thank you for all that you do.
Hasbro should package an HHQueen knockoff with the curve shot blasters, make the gimmick actually useful.
Criminally underrated video
To measure consistence I'd recommend a force gauged.
I received some HS yellow ammo this week from Amazon that is extremely firm . I've had one jam and most of the shots exit the blaster to the left . The do perform well in springers though .
The biggest thing that is we going for the HHQueen rounds is because of their incredibly light weight, they should curve very well. Luke is gonna love these!
I just had a thought: Could we achieve these near 90 degree curves with these HHQueen rounds shown on the box of the Rival Sideswipe blasters??
I literally talk about using them in Rival Curve blasters in this video. ;) Next K26 episode will feature Curve blasters and this ammo. :D
Yeah, I wrote my comment before I watched the whole video. I know, I know, I should've watched the whole thing before commenting. Sorry to waste your time!
A nice follow up video might be humidity and durability testing. Set 20 or so of each in a humid environment or just in a humidifier for a day and then run them and all the rest through your smart gun project until they no longer run. Then compile that into how many times they survived. (Fire them into the top of one proton pack from another perhaps)
Captain Xavier Very thorough and comprehensive review sir. As scientifically accurate as one could expect from a sampling rate of 10. Having shot all those ammo and taking into consideration accuracy, distance, fps and consistency; if you had to choose only 1 brand to buy from for the rest of your life, which one would you choose - with the consideration being simply, the best value.
XC Source
@@CaptainXavier Thank you for being so certain and so decisive. Much appreciated. I was afraid you were gonna give some long winded on the fence answer that didn't really answer the question. You did not dissapoint, good sir.
Love your videos, man. Nice job
26:18 The HHQueen rounds are like: To the moon!
As someone else mentioned, I was hoping to see the x shot chaos rounds too, as they are the most widely available ball ammo in Canada, and the most inexpensive as well. They are also red which is a small personal point since red is my favourite colour, and sold at toys r us which has the best sales only adding to their affordability.
Compare to the Nerf balls, they are a little bit harder and thicker. Both appeared to have very good consistency to me at first glance with the x shot balls actually looking to have smoother transitions from half to half. Size wise, the Rivals will narrowly slip through a 7/8 wrench, while the chaos rounds will stay held between it's forks. This is without the seams. If the seams are placed as the between the forks of my wrench, they both stick and feel like they take the same force to push through.
I don't have a caliper or chronograph, but in my stock Hades I honestly could not tell a notable difference in range or accuracy firing about 50 or each when doing my little test last week. I did it again while typing this reply and found the rival ammo to potentially get hopped up a bit more, but without placing the blaster into a rig to remove myself as a variable, it's more likely to be human error.
Why are you blowing up rival rounds
...
SCIENCE!
Why are you blowing up water melons for science and food

@@borealsabolboro3173 yeah
I bought a 200 round pack from Little Valentine, in my batch the QC was a bit off. The value was pretty good, but I'd say about 20 about of the 200 were so squishy that they constantly jammed in my Kronos, those rounds didn't t even fire, they just got stuck halfway into the breech.
The rest of the rounds were good, some were harder than the rest. That's just my experience, I wanted to put it out there.
I bought the headhsot rounds and they are in between the price of little valentine and nerf. But they are harder than nerf and perform well from what I have seen and heard. I want to try out the little valentine ones....
@@smingjr Yes, but in some tests people had consistent feeding issues with the Kronos and headshot rounds, and I have a Kronos and 2 Knockouts (one shoots short darts, other is stock), so those weren't practical. Just be aware of potential inconsistencies in the Valentine rounds, but that's somewhat expected
Just curious Chaylo, how long did it take you to make this video?
Several days.
Weeks
@@sweatyylemonss5237 how dare you expose his secrets tho
Great comparison, thank you. Bit of a shame the ekind glow layer seemed to throw them off a bit - perhaps they'd perform different in another colour, though the inconsistency of glow in the dark ammo is a good data point in itself.
If I may ask; is there a reason you didn't look at Xshot chaos rounds?
The same reason I didn't cover OOD Proton Rounds. Not available on Amazon and Out of Stock.
For science!
Thanks for doing the work!
That was fun to watch, watching the tank dump double speed at the end was very relaxing. Did your RivalBurn survive the testing?
Did you double the speed? Cuz it is not double in the video. And yes, it survived.
@@CaptainXavier Yes I did double the speed the second time I watched the ending and it was 8 times the fun.
Fantastic.
Amazing dedication to your art.
Also, did you tag yourself with one if those green rounds at the end there??
Yes
I purchased 2 different batches from headshot and the rounds density were vastly different, I've got some that are pretty close to standard rival... Then I've got some I'm afraid to fire at humans within 10 feet
X-shot from Target?
Out of Stock...
Nerf science, the best science
Garden Weasel!
Well obviously the red ‘uns go fasta!
And the yellow ones explode bigger. I did not test any purple rounds for the obvious reason.
Thank god you got the reference
XCSource is looking great since its on par with NERF and is a solid $15 for 100
Yea I just wish I could get a little bit of a bulk deal on 1000 rounds
I wonder what would happen if you gave the HHQueen to an entire team of Prometheus users. They would just make a wall of fire lol.
On the bright side if you are bird hunting the hhqueen would be great
The perfect video
I'd like to see the comparison between Nerf Rival rounds, dart zone rounds, headshot rounds, and xshot chaos rounds
Well I cover 3 of those 4 in this video. The reason I didn't cover the X-Shot rounds us that they were not available on Amazon at the time.
@@CaptainXavier Thank you. Just looking for a good comparison of the chaos rounds. Your comparisons are always top notch!
Taste the rainbow.... shoot the rainbow....
I'd like to see variance % or average variance, mostly to understand the consitancy and if there were some super-weird outliers,
I love headshot rival ammo
I am relatively early, bangerang!!!
The rival 150 rds were 5 bucks for awhile, they were out in the first week
SCIENCE!! *SLAP*
Bought 200 Rival rounds and they came with a free Prometheus. Imaging my surprise when I saw that deal.
DO NOT BUY HEADSHOT AMMO!
Ordered the pack of 1000 and the ones I got are way harder than normal and almost burnt out a motor in my Jupiter.
Yes, I have the same problem. I bought the 200 pack. At first they were ok. I could use them with my Nemesis and with my Hades. After 30 or 40 days, they got very hard and I can't use them with Nemesis. It constantly jams.
The headset looks like cheese puffs
You should try that hhqueen ammo in those rival curve blasters, nvm you are xD
And it'll be hilarious.
More science
Great video, Could we see the variation in weight as a percentage please?
...no
If im correct the new headshot ammo are now fvj's
They are totally rock hard now, they used to be good
wow i was early. science!
BALLS.
I see what you mean when you forget to switch your camera to "Outdoors". Tis Blue!
Yyyyyyup. And if I fail to set it to indoors then it is red.

Just...can't...win...
HHquenn good for curveshot or ood jupiter
Hey captain, could you do a video on removing the ar on the nerf rival knockout and other mods, since i want to do my first internal mod on one and i am going to convert it to half lengh darts..
so stupid newbie question. what is the correlation or ratio of FPS and range? how much more feet of range can I (generally) expect to get out of each foot of FPS I add to a blaster?
also where do we start hitting diminishing returns?
Hey cap, how did you make youw wood dart catcher ... Thingy?
Hey Captain, do you play Surviving Mars? I wonder because i recognized the music you used for the time-lapse sequences as one of the "easy listening" tracks used in the game's diagetic faux radio.
I do not, no
I want that big gun!
I think there is a slight misscalculation in headshot variance, shouldn' t it be 0.22? (5:13 ) But overally I love the compareson!
Probably. Too any numbers. I was bound to get one wrong.
you should do a full nerf war only using HH queen
Kinda unrelated but please do a insane rapidstrike build and when I say insane I mean insanely silly because why not have a fang revamped pusher if your going to have full auto do it in a silly way
Quedtion, would a 3S Nemesis at 20ft with the crappy ammo be efficient?
No
Helium and hydrogen queen
can you curve shot non rival ammo
Could you do I video where you compare half length darts
I could. I don't plan to...but I could.
Dart zones adventure force is $20 for 150 at Walmart
I'm trying to find your first video on HHqueen, but I can't find it. Do you know what it was called?
Did you use the same 10 rounds of each brand for the tests?
I tried to. A few wondered and were replaced.
I don't know why but rival rounds always look twice as big as what they usually are
I'm just waiting for Garden Weasel to sponsor this schmuck
I wish...
Science
threw out about 100 rounds of the red rival balls as they just... stopped working in all my rival blasters.
I haven't used them in years and obviously being a lesser quality they developed a... nearly gooey or sticky feeling to them, not to mention the density of them were never consistent.
spend the extra money and buy official nerf rival rounds ONCE and be happy with them for life.
Are those glow in the dark darts just coated?
I have some headshot glow in the darks and they seem to be glowy the whole way through.
No idea. The glow feature was not something I looked at for this video.
@@CaptainXavier yeah, I just thought maybe you had disected one.
You know, for science 🙂
You know...it never even occurred to me to cut one of each in half to see what they look like...
Which ones work best in the Atlas? I have one, and it doesn't like the Dart Zone rounds, and from what I have read, it doesn't like the Headshot ones either.
I have no idea. I have not run them thru an Atlas. I long since tossed all the rounds in my generic rival bin so I cannot easily test. Plus, this video is so old none of this data is likely to still be accurate. ...might be time to redo it...
@@CaptainXavier The Dart Zone rounds seem to be made to slightly different tolerances to Nerf brand (same with some other off brands), and they can sometimes be slightly too big and get stuck in the barrel, thus jamming the gun. I want to know if I should pay extra for Nerf brand ones of if there is another off-brand that will likely work in the Atlas.
@@CaptainXavier If you do update the video, please try the Pokonboy and TiopLior rounds - I want to know if those are any good.
I have never tried Pokonboy (I just ordered 500, so I will let you know). But I can confirm that the TiopLior (the 500 rd bucket on Amazon) is excellent ammo. Every bit as good as Official Nerf ammo.
@@CaptainXavier Does it work in an Atlas?

Nerf fir science: arrows
I have heard bad things about headshot ammo from pdk films what's your opinion
What is my opinion on you having heard bad things about headshot ammo from pdk films? ...I have no opinion on that...why would I?
Disappointed in your Atlas? Just alternate the Little Valentine Rounds in between the Nerf brand ones. You drop the weight a few grains allowing for improved distance/less droop etc...Also the spread increases due to the lighter nature (inaccuracy) of Little Valentine balls. I'm assuming the double shot atlas finds it easier to push 2 rounds at 50ish grains as opposed to 56ish. Can't quite remember weights - but after seeing the wiley HHqueen balls I hit your amazon link. Will try loading behind Nerf balls in Atlas and hit you back. I don't expect anything special from the HHQueen balls...the point is at such a low weight the plunger system is going to kick that rival ball out like a mofo...who cares if the green balls don't hit the mark (ordered the same) if the 1st rival ball is kicking helios style? Finally got the courage to replace spring on my helios tonight so it's nice being able to reach out at 40ish feet and not have to worry about droop...but the atlas is a sleeper hit...with dual 45 degree picatinny mounts you can have 18 shots/36 rounds...and the helios is practically a target pistol. I'm an airgunner but i'm thrilled with the novelty of these 2 pieces. Had to report the alternating ammo trick to stabilize and raise Atlas's trajectory. Spread goes out more but hey maybe you'll dig that too. My atlas is not upgraded...but may not need it thanks to HHQueen. Hahahaha
Just got the headshot ammo today and that works even better. With the Atlas you can cut the nerf brand out all together and just load headshot/little valentine loads. Put the little valentine behind the headshot ammo. Again...it's a wider spread but not having to arc hard to reach that 30-40 foot range is sweet. Why 30-40 ft...because if you've got that --- the 20-30 ft range is solid. Haha...I wonder what will happen when we use the HHQueen behind these other off brands. Haha - again as a hardcore target shooter - ammo price worries are secondary...the varying weights...haha - that's what makes them worth it. The nerf balls are awesome but they're nerfed by definition. Since the Atlas isn't the most upgradable option you have to balance the pow/accy. Often in the pellet gun world we sacrifice tiny amounts of accuracy for more damage. This obsession translates over to nerf...we want the pop...but there are only a couple of levels of tolerable inaccuracy before something is truly inefficient. Any devoted shooter can coax accuracy out of many of these choices - scoring the ammo at varying ranges will get you a distance min/max. This is only interesting in the case of the atlas or full auto folks creating an intentional spread.
Woof - the HHqueen ammo is no good in the atlas...i'm guessing it's for 50-60fps rival knockoffs. I wouldn't push the HHqueen faster than that meaning...it's for wittle wittle kids.
that would be funny if your practically aiming at the ground but there shooting at your target
