    The Brunswick Recordings Vol. III
    Frédéric Chopin
    1. Scherzo, Op. 40 No. 1 (0:08)
    2. Nocturne, Op. 15 No.2 (4:46)
    3. Polonaise, Op.40 No. 1 (8:45)
    4. Chopin-Liszt: Chant Polonaise, "My Joys" (11:53)
    Josef Hoffman, pianist
    Recorded in 1923
As is our standard practice, the goal here is to restore these recordings to sound more authentic on modern equipment, closer to the the way they actually did when new. Mono and stereo did not exist at the time these records were made, and the sound is acoustic.
    Transfer mastering (1997): Ward Marston
Field Acoustic Restoration (2022): Paul Howard

Absolute pleasure to hear. Thanks, Paul. I've been enjoying a number of pianists of this era lately, Hofmann, Backhaus and Cortot among them, not to mention Rach. Maybe because I'm getting old, I find the style of play more engaging than most modern pianists. Not that there aren't some fine artists these days, but it's somehow just not the same.

On se demande comment beaucoup jouent Chopin sachant que ce niveau d'interprétation existe.
