Thank you for your review, it was helpful! As a cover band keyboardist who is getting a little older I have been looking a long time for a quality 73 note hammer action keyboard that won't break the bank. The sounds seem very high quality on the reviews I've heard, close enough to the Nord and at a fraction of the cost. I'm sold, I really like everything about the Numa, it will be a perfect bottom board to compliment my Kronos. I purchased one from Sweetwater a few days ago, no word on the delivery date yet.
I agree completely, I also bought one to use with my Kronos! It seems to be the perfect bottom board. According to my Sweetwater rep estimated ship date is end of March.
@@edwardgau3678 oh man, so frustrating. Looks like a great keyboard. I was considering one of the Numas back in January; ended up just going for one of the $500 SL73s for now. Once they're available, the definitely look great.
Wow, this is incredible! One thing that really stands out is when he plays note by note on each keyboard, you can hear the distinct differences between them. It's impressive that the Numa is able to offer such high sound quality at a more affordable price point compared to the Nord. While there may be some synthetic sound quality in the piano presets of the nume, it's hardly noticeable, even less in a musical environment. It's worth noting that some of the Numa presets actually sound better than the Nord's, and vice versa.

Nord is always a over priced. Now days competition is too high. This Numa-X-GT look very convincing product, Nord is always good when it comes to piano subject but this Numa-X-GT has different character and sounds really amazing plus new TP400 action is also interesting. I have 18 years of experience in selling musical instruments and I take care of pianos and keyboard. I am 99% buying this Numa X-GT. Hoping for demo because I am not a fan of Fatar keys but TP400 look interesting.
The important thing to note is that the Nuba is highly editable. This is either just a preset, or a specific set of edits this guy has made. It sounds nice to my ears, but what I’m getting at, is likely enough it can be edited to give the sort of feel that the sampled sound in the NORD has. WAY more versatile! Nord samples are highly regarded, with good reason. Still, I think the modeling approach is better in 2021
The Numa uses real samples which are complimented by synthesis, so it’s a bit of both worlds. The Nords do sound and feel amazing, but they don’t have the depth of editing for piano that the Numa has. It seems like a lot of bang for the buck. Money no object the Nord wins every time
Hi Man, thank you very much for the video. One question: Are the keys on the STUDIOLOGIC NUMA X PIANO 73 really comfortable? Is it possible to feel the feel of an acoustic piano in terms of weight and hammer action? Thank you in advance for your help.
Very good comparisson, like allways! I have and use both, Nord an Numa x 88. No question about the quality of Nord stage 3, its not just for status on stage, it is worth the money. And it is much more than pianos: great organ, great synth, sounds right out of the box. But the Numa x has something in its favour: the first time I tryed it I felt connected! The TP110 on Numa x88 might not feel perfect if you just hit some notes with the leyboard off, but playing it really for one hour, it felt natural to me, my playing got nimble and precise, and I allways get a smile on my face when I pick it up for a gig, just grab the bag with one hand, its incredible light and portable. The perfect balance between wheight and Key quality. Piano sounds are not perfect, very filtered at lower dynamics, low sustain on higher pith notes, release and other simulations are much better on the Nord, but the Numa just makes up on expressiveness! It's a joy to play, even if in detailed analisys it shows up a lot of flaws. Power button is the worst ( very week and unreliable ). Big key noise when the keys hit the bottom, your ground flour neighbours will complain, even if you use headphones. BUT, in the end, for me personally, it's a JOY to play!
@@amitev I got the Numa X as a substitute for a Kawai MP7SE, just based on portability and USB audio interface. @@amitev yea you have a point I used to think just like that but understand when you say close to what real acoustic piano feels like.. be more specific, a piano from what company? What model in that company? The key action feeling of an acoustic piano has a massive range of feelings.
I really think, in my humble opinion and my ears, that the sound of the studiologic is very warm, realistic, it resembles my former old Steinway 200 max concert grand, removed due to space and economic problems, the sound is very defined, the north it's more like a "glassier" jazz or Japanese piano. In dynamics I can't say because it's you who plays and feel the differences under your fingers. Then the Norda costs twice as much, I don't know what type of keyboard they have on the Norda. From studiologic I saw, in a video, the assembly sequence, the balancing of the dynamics of each key using a robot driven by an excellent software that calculates all the possible pressures that a musician different from many others plays different musical genres from pop, classic, jazz blues, progressive. Difficult to explain until you try it. You made an excellent audio video comparison and your touch was the same for every type of sound and dynamic with different touches from soft to more intense, which you produced on both keyboards. This is all balanced. If this numa had been produced before, I certainly would not have purchased the arturia keylab mkii 88 keys, difficult and cumbersome to adjust for each vst, plug in, very complicated and demanding, etc, then the attached analoglab "V" package does not have all beautiful sounds. I'm considering a trade-in since I'm infatuated with the numa Yes, I had fun playing in my studio with imac logic sound cards and many other devices that I drive with 2 midi switches (a self-built 14ch midi with patch bay logic, an Esi 8ch). Greetings Modest, but no my preferit genius "Modest Petrovic Mussorgsky" 😅😂😂😅😂😂
The keybed is the same in both, graded hammer action made by Fatar. In fact Studiologic is the same company as Fatar so this is their in house competitor to Nord, but it really compares more with the Nord Piano, in price and features. The Nord Stage is an absolute monster and if you can afford one then it is the obvious best choice for a stage piano imo.
Thank you for this review, it's been very helpful to me. And you're a wonderful keyboard player! I would appreciate your telling us which piano sounds on each instrument you're comparing if it's possible. OK, my bad, I saw that the sounds were mentioned at the beginning.
Agreed and the stereo field is narrower on the Nord, not sure how much is effects and how much is other factors but it’s really noticable on headphones
Here I like the Numa being a bit snappier and more hifi-ish/polished than the fuller, meatier, but boxier or let´s say midrangy-honkier Nord. Would as well be very interesting, how each ones soundcharacteristics turn out, when trying to cut through a mix..
I’m from England and watch all of your videos. No idea what you’re saying but I love the way you play. Can you tell me what the piece is called that you start playing at 1.56? I’m guessing it’s your own composition as I hear you play it on many demos… I absolutely love it and would love to learn to play it if you ever considered doing a tutorial? Oh and I’ve just ordered the Numa X piano 73 after hearing you play… I think it stands up very well to the Nord from what I can hear.
Thank you for comparing these. I had a Nord Electro for a few weeks, and decided to return it. It doesn’t have weighted keys, and their next model up , that has weighted keys, costs $3,100.** plus tax. If the new TP 110 keybed is at least not bad, it seems definitely worth a try. I have tried everything, (except Korg), and there’s some shortcomings about nearly all. I’ve had an Alesis QS8 for twenty years, with no problems. It was made with a Fatar,..(Studiologic).. keybed, which is still better than what Yamaha put in the recent CP 73. (I had to send that back)..I’m just looking for something easier to move, and of course, the sound technology today beats whatever Alesis had twenty years ago.
Thank you so much for this comparison as I was wondering what the A B comparison would sound like. The difference is very subtle as if the Nord has a slightly less bright sound. Regards André SA
Easy to use; very intuitive; it weighs less than Nord; it has an audio interface (Nord has not); great keyboard/keys (they make keyboards for other manufactures (OEM) and Nord's isn't the best) AND it COST a lot less ;-) -- if all you are worried about is those warmer sounds, just EQ / prep them with their great app; easy enough and you just saved yourself more than grand ;-) -- factor all that in and you'll see it's a no brainer IMO
As A Nord Stage 3 owner, I still think that the Nord sounds more "in the room" realistic sounding to my ears. The Numa Piano is very nice but it still sounds like a digital representation of an acoustic piano. The Nord is three times the price, but it does have lots of other sonic possibilities to it. Great comparison BTW
I know what you mean. It sounds amazing and polished but almost too good to be true. I have a Nord Electro and it really does sound like very real as you say, not overly manicured like the Numa. Both sound amazing in their own way
The biggest difference to me listening on headphones was that the stereo field is wider on the numa, which undoubtedly makes it sound better. Obviously the Nord is much more expensive and can do far more than the numa, but as for a comparison of piano patches this is great and they’re very evenly matched
I always watch your all piano videos you are a amazing musician and really like the way you do the comparison. This two Model comparison is perfect. I always like Nord sounds but not happy with the keyboard action only thing recently they have used the Kawai RH3 action on Nord-Grand that was a really good move from Nord. Studio-Logic is also doing good in making the stage pianos. I was impressed with Numa-Concert, I was about to buy but then I skipped that model only because of fatar key action. I am more in to clasical playing and need better rough and tough key action like Kawai MP11SE/ Yamaha CP88 & Roland RD2000 this all three brands makes fantastic key action. When it comes to sounds somehow I really impressed with the Studio-Logic Numa-X-GT sounds are difference then all the Japanese make pianos and very importantly it’s less expensive. I have seen many videos of Numa-X-GT I really excited but little confused about the Key action. May be they have made new TP400 better in terms of response and longevity wise. I would be great if Studio-Logic or any other retailer make videos on key action, They must explain in details about all technical stuff and it would be great if anyone can play some Chopin and Listz pieces like yamaha Kawai Roland more focus on key action to promote their pianos it helps a lot to musicians like me because In my country there’s no facility of demo for the Studio-Logic. I work with the music industry from last 18 years and I know the importer personally, I will request them for a demo if they will arrange them it would be a great help to me as I am seriously interested in X-GT. Thank you so much great comparison. ❤️
Fully agree with your comment on the key action, I never touched a MP11SE but I have the Yamaha CP and the Roland RD and the action is superb. It is the main reason why I keep the RD. Indestructible and super expressive keys
To be frankly Japanese manufacturers make everything perfect and they are the very business oriented, why not! They will upgrade the model and provide some futures but they have always left some specs for the new model and this way they do the business and still most of the Japanese makers a leading. They are very good in doing market surve but now some companies which are not from Japan they are doing very good improvements and it may effect the business of current ruler. Numa X-GT’s TP400 action has a good reviews only thing is company like studio Logic not aggressive in promoting the brand like a Japanese company and also they have to be consistent like Japanese. Only Nord is doing well against the Japanese brands there was a time for Kurzweil/Gem but now Gem is no more in the market and Kurzweil is still struggling. Japanese are clearly winners I don’t think so other companies can come closer to them it take years to create faith. Thanks!
I'm just starting to learn, but that little Diddy about 1.50 in, is he just riffing or is it a known song? I'd like to learn something like that if anyone knows or has suggestions...
I wonder what the EQ settings are? Not an expert but maybe the Numa boosts the mids a bit more? The Numa also sounds a bit more clean. But if you consider the price of the Numa thats really impressive what you get for the money. I also wonder how the 73 with the TP/110 feels 🤔
Nord is a good amount better sounding for me, but I do think these differences will get smaller and smaller as time goes on. They were first but a lot of companies are coming for them!
the nord sounds great but the numa wins over and over. the nord is over compressed and has a washed out sound when you start playing pieces that are heavy on action, but when you play the numa, it has a sexy cleaner ring to it that sounds so much smoother and cleaner, but my huge question is are both pianos using a C7 sampled la grand? it sure sounds like they’re both yamahas you really can’t tell besides one just sounds too over compressed over the other.
nord bardziej przestrzenne brzmienie i bardziej jasne drugi ciemne brzmienie mniej przestrzeni kwestia kto co lubi ale nord mi bardziej pasuje osobiście pozdrawiam
To my ears, the Nord sounds more realistic, probably due to it being sample-based. The Numa sounds like it's been over EQ'd and not as spacious - too close in the ears. However, I think it would be fairly possible to match the Nord sounds on the Numa with a bit of tweaking...
There's some magic on Nord sounds that makes it more cinematic, while I find the sound on the Numa X kinda closer, with more presence, more open maybe? Nothing wrong with either I guess, thanks for the review
I thought it was just me. I sold my montage 8 for a Nord stage 3. Single notes sounds fine but chords sound distorted. I’ve brought so many enhancers to clean the piano. I’m starting to get use to it but there is definitely something up with the piano I can’t stop hearing.
@@h88sixtyone38 Sorry, but there's no such thing as inherent distorted piano samples in the NS3 that I'm or thousand of other happy NS3 users are aware of. Please come over to the www.norduserforum.com and post an mp3 example of the distortion your claim to be hearing to prove your point.
I am very sorry, but I have the same two keyboards. A numa xpiano73 and a Nord stage3-compact. In this Video it seems, that the Yamaha c7 sounds nearly the same. But it isn‘t! The Nord is much brighter than the Numa.
For the first piano: Numa X all the way. Nord sounds thin and drenched in reverb. Second piano: this is a more even comparision. But I prefer the Numa X. Nord sounds canned. Electric Piano: Nord. Sounds more natural. Numa X sounds like a toy in comparision.
nooooooooooooooooooo i just wanted a great acoustic and Electric piano sound😢. the numa was thiiiiis close to being the perfect solution. think i will have to go with viscount. cant have EP sounds compromised
I cena Norda przesadzona mocno
The Numa X has a better action. That is all I care about. Sounds mean nothing. I've got thousands of dollars worth of VSTs instruments that are worlds better than any internal samples e.g. VSL Synchron Pianos.

Thank you for this review, it's been very helpful to me. And you're a wonderful keyboard player! I would appreciate your telling us which piano sounds on each instrument you're comparing if it's possible. OK, my bad, I saw that the sounds were mentioned at the beginning.
some of the nord sounds are eq’ d with bit more top end frequency- both are very well represented. 🎧
Agreed and the stereo field is narrower on the Nord, not sure how much is effects and how much is other factors but it’s really noticable on headphones
Greetings!
Oh dude I have the same question about the song played at 1.56...
@@tomcarter8480 he likely just improv'd it :)
Nord sounds more natural, but Numa have a nice warm sound
Numa 💪
As A Nord Stage 3 owner, I still think that the Nord sounds more "in the room" realistic sounding to my ears. The Numa Piano is very nice but it still sounds like a digital representation of an acoustic piano. The Nord is three times the price, but it does have lots of other sonic possibilities to it. Great comparison BTW
I know what you mean. It sounds amazing and polished but almost too good to be true. I have a Nord Electro and it really does sound like very real as you say, not overly manicured like the Numa. Both sound amazing in their own way
Close in sound quality and dynamic range. Miles away from each other in price. Wondering about differences in the quality of the keybed.
Uff. numa. Suena Prácticamente Igual al Nord 😬🔥❤️
The biggest difference to me listening on headphones was that the stereo field is wider on the numa, which undoubtedly makes it sound better.
Obviously the Nord is much more expensive and can do far more than the numa, but as for a comparison of piano patches this is great and they’re very evenly matched
Lol. Does much? How?
@@Culturelens In english please?
I'd like to learn something like that if anyone knows or has suggestions...
excellent
What sound replicates the Yamaha C7 on Nord?
I wonder what the EQ settings are? Not an expert but maybe the Numa boosts the mids a bit more? The Numa also sounds a bit more clean. But if you consider the price of the Numa thats really impressive what you get for the money. I also wonder how the 73 with the TP/110 feels 🤔
This is factory Presets.
Numa X creamy sound
Numa is brighter for sure although I imagine you could eq it to sound the same.
Nord is a good amount better sounding for me, but I do think these differences will get smaller and smaller as time goes on. They were first but a lot of companies are coming for them!
Yes, you can smoothly set the TONE control for each instrument independently. TONE=sharp or dark: ruclips.net/video/a3KKV1wtNzM/видео.html
Super Video! Nice..
the nord sounds great but the numa wins over and over. the nord is over compressed and has a washed out sound when you start playing pieces that are heavy on action, but when you play the numa, it has a sexy cleaner ring to it that sounds so much smoother and cleaner, but my huge question is
are both pianos using a C7 sampled la grand? it sure sounds like they’re both yamahas you really can’t tell besides one just sounds too over compressed over the other.
Tanks...
I want numa stage vs numa x piano
Nord sound more cheaper and distorted.
I like the numa.
@@AlexanderNagel distorted may be the wrong word to describe it.
So many world class musicians wouldn’t be using a Nord if it was just a piece of crap 💩 Mind you, I have the Stage 4 and haven’t tried the 3.
Nord 👍
I am very sorry, but I have the same two keyboards. A numa xpiano73 and a Nord stage3-compact. In this Video it seems, that the Yamaha c7 sounds nearly the same. But it isn‘t! The Nord is much brighter than the Numa.
Nord stage
For the first piano: Numa X all the way. Nord sounds thin and drenched in reverb. Second piano: this is a more even comparision. But I prefer the Numa X. Nord sounds canned. Electric Piano: Nord. Sounds more natural. Numa X sounds like a toy in comparision.
nooooooooooooooooooo i just wanted a great acoustic and Electric piano sound😢. the numa was thiiiiis close to being the perfect solution. think i will have to go with viscount. cant have EP sounds compromised
I cena Norda przesadzona mocno
Studiologic sounds more brlliant
Nord is clearly best but watching the price ... 😁
Nord all the way
NS3 more overtones
Nord cool !
Nord foi superior
The Numa X has a better action. That is all I care about. Sounds mean nothing. I've got thousands of dollars worth of VSTs instruments that are worlds better than any internal samples e.g. VSL Synchron Pianos.
I thing yamaha is best.
Nord tem além som um charme : balanço
Nord has it beat on Wurlitzer which you did not demo all you played was blah blah my vote Nord even if that red pisses everyone off ✌️❤️😎
Mediums are better on stage:/
Thank you!!!!I wonted to buy numa, but after this not, numa has sharp sound, not nice.
Numa has tp100 - bad... You get what you pay though, nord is like 3 times expensive
Actually, Numa X 73 has the newer TP110 action. I've got it, and the action is quite good.
Nord
Nope
Nord👍
