    The KO also remind me of Julian Jackson vs Terry Norris. Norris with his hands down ready to swing and Jackson with a right hand. Great Vid

    Great video. On the 3rd round KD - if you watch it closely Pacquiao was 1) stepping back when he got hit (i.e. on one leg) and 2) was watching Marquez's left hand and didnt see the right hand at all.

  • @vanzetti7

    I thought it was a great fight and Marquez beat a Great Pacquaio who looked amazing early - no excuses - Marquez threw a right hand that he trained all year to land-- Perfect--.
    I would like to see Pacquaio fight Bradley again - hopefully win and campaign for a 5th fight with Marquez. Awesome video mate - been an up and down year for boxing

    Marquez works at ESPNDEPORTES and his coworkers have mentioned many times that he is a professional inside and outside the ring, meaning that he does not party drink or smoke. Adding to that his talent, discipline, the new regime of training and desire to prove himself in my opinion is the reason he was able to ko pacquiao. Let's give him the respect he deserves. Both fighters showed tremendous heart.

    Love to see MP/JMM again. I can't help but feel that Pacquiao needs FM now, unfortunately. I hope FM finally bites. For Marquez, this is his moment. He'll never be considered a pfp atg, so hopefully he'll play this moment for all it's worth.
    Once again, great synopsis. I can't help but feel sad for us fans and what might have been, in the past few years.

    @Islander. Can blood transfusion be tested? It gives you strength/stamina, but punching power? Blood transfusion is common now especially for endurance athletes.

  • @Marz916

    Honestly, you can still be aware of a punch coming at you and not know the exact range, distance, and where it will land. And that is what it seems like happened.

    the gap between this figth and the others was diffrent.JMM had every angle fresh in his mind compared to the others times he fought Pac which were about 3 or 4 years apart this one was about 1 year apart huge advanget in my opinion

  • @boxinginfo

    Finally someone who sees some of the same things I see. How come nobody asks why Marquez was quoted after fighting Mayweather that the weight made a difference and his shots had NO effect on Mayweather, yet all of a sudden he's walking through shots that had him all but KO'd in the past and then scoring knockdowns when he couldn't get Michael Katsidis off his feet?

  • @MikeStock88

    1st KD was set up nicely w/ hard looping body shots. He delivered the KD blow up top with a low faint and the same wide delivery that lowered Pac's guard. The KO was indeed very "Martinezesque." Probably a move he prepared for and anticipated after recognizing the opportunity from his vast experience.

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  12 лет назад

    I couldn't have said that better myself! He's now surrounded by very large wrecking machines like Canelo, Trout, Martinez, etc. He's going to have to get in the ring with one of them.

  • @Marz916
    @Marz916 12 лет назад

    The overhand right hand that first knocked down Manny was a feint to the body, it looked like it was going to be a body shot, but came around the guard, and landed clean. It caught Manny a bit off guard, not sure if he was prepared for it. It was similar to the left hook from Mike McCallum that ended Donald Curry.
    Also, the right hand that ended Manny was a perfect, well timed right hand that came during one of Manny's feints.

  • @Marz916

    The lists of greats coming back from brutal KO's are short but some are notable.
    Duran, Hearns, Terry Norris, Foreman, Lionel Rose, Wilfredo Gomez, Lewis, Louis, Norton, Frazier....
    Pac needs a rest and maybe fight Bradley first as a barometer.

    Like I said in the video the shot that ended the fight and was heard all around the world was on par with Marciano's shot that won him the heavyweight title, a six inch punch! It wlll go down as one of the greatest 1 punch KO's of all time.

    I think Pacquiao stayed clear of the whole foot situation b/c almost all of the action and movement was north/south as opposed to circling for position going east/west where Marquez kept stepping on Pacquiao's foot in the 3rd fight.

  • @molgam15
    @molgam15 12 лет назад

    That was 100 years ago. Pacquiao do not have enough resources that days for proper training, proper diet, nutrition etc. to make him strong and durable.

  • @Marz916
    @Marz916 12 лет назад

    That's just one of the things about boxing, so many factors. Marquez has landed many big right hands that were harder then the jab from Nedal Hussein that dropped and hurt Manny.

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  12 лет назад

    Difference between the early kd and McCallum-Curry was McCallum had dug a hard right hand to the body and then launched the left hook when they both separated, Curry never saw it coming same a Morales in his last fight. It looked for all the world that Manny was looking that right hand into the side of his face at distance to boot, I find it strange b/c he has taken WAY heavier shots than that from Marquez and others in the past with no ill effect.

  • @Marz916
    @Marz916 12 лет назад

    Yup, in 2008, Manny fought at 130, then in the same year, he fought at Welterweight. But hey, I'm not calling him a cheater like everyone else does.
    All I will say is that this was a great series, a great rivalry, four great fights, with the fourth fight finally ending with a definitive winner. A knock out ended the series, god bless both.

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  12 лет назад

    Really good question. I'd say O'Grady and I'm not much more than 60% certain of that. O'Grady was more conditioned to fight 15 rounds and more importantly he had Kenty down 2-3 times over 15 rounds where as Ruelas was down officially twice in the 1st round and should have had a knock down ruled against him in the 9th round.

  • @C10shevrolay

  • @joeygonzo
    @joeygonzo 12 лет назад

    Great win by JMM.
    He pulled a Castro on John David Jackson KO, kinda.
    Juan's huge traps looked like a red flag to me.
    But, it's all suspicion for now until proven guilty.
    Pac forgot to slide to his right and became too comfortable in the middle too long in that KO sequence.
    Funny thing is Juan was more dangerous near the ropes b/c Pac couldn't throw his snap left and roll-under. In the middle of the ring, he had plenty of room to circle or roll under Juan's left.

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  12 лет назад

    I didn't watch the video but I can tell you exactly the line of reasoning. The main wager was on Pacquiao to win or to win by a specific way and then the "straddle" was Marquez by KO which I'm certain the odds were monster against that happening. So if one followed his strategy you would have lost all your money on Pacquiao whatever way you cut it and won everything back to break even on a Marquez stoppage.
    I've yet to see somebody on record get this one right on the money.

    thats very true about the 10 count.... in the state of mo. if a reff stops a fight without a 10 count there is no way to over turn the knock out... maybe thats the reason they stopped it without the 10 count idk

    It's good you mention the "resources". They never experience working with an empty stomach. And that's not good for boxers. But to see this kids determination. I favor Luisito Espinosa than Pac. It's the skill set and technique. It's like Floyd Jr over Pac in skill. But I give credit to Pac for his body of work from his first pro fight up to now. There's no equal.

    HEREDIA :" No, that is a misapprehension: “You take a couple of tablets today and tomorrow you can really fly.” In reality you have to train inconceivably hard, be very talented and have a perfect team of trainers and support staff. And then it is the best drugs that make the difference. It is all a great composition, a symphony. " Everything is linked together, do you understand? And drugs have a long-term effect: they ensure that you can recover, that you avoid the catabolic phases. "...

  • @DorianGrayism
    @DorianGrayism 12 лет назад

    Well, not exactly.
    He was looking at the betting odds and said the odds for a knockout for Marquez were way to high since Pac Man gets hit with too many clean punches. So he said there was a knockout possibility for Marquez.

  • @mrdan322

  • @162773

    I basically thought of this fight cause Ogrady was doing the commentary for Ruelas-Pendleton. Rafael in that fight looked like a middle class version of Antonio Margarito. I agree that Ogrady would win, but I could see Ruelas stopping him on a cut

    I think they are making a really good attempt to bring boxing back to what is relatively "free TV" my problem is how many low dollar Adamek-Cunningham fights are they going to be able to come up with. If they can get some lower weight low dollar title fights on, I'll be in heaven.
    -People don't realize that the Golden Age of Boxing was televised almost entirely in mid-late afternoons on the weekend not prime time.
    -All in all I'd say its a nice use of air space that would go to something else.

  • @Aka_daka
    @Aka_daka 12 лет назад

    you are right Marquez hasn't shown much one punch knockout power but he has always has good power and his a elite counterpuncher that caught pacquiao good when he was defenseless, but i see your point he hasn't hurt anyone like that and i think Pacquiao's career is over once your chin gets cracked like that they dont comeback.

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  12 лет назад

    Another slant on those numbers is weighing the competition and by far IMO Pacquiao has fought the higher quality of competition. IE Morales 3X, Barrera 2X, Hatton, DLH, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, Mosley, Larios, the guys at 122 on down etc etc.
    -Try making a list of all the 1 shot KO's Marquez has over elite level boxers, or in general. Beating Juan Diaz and Manuel Medina into submission pales in comparison to this result which in my mind is an anomaly.

  • @BufiniPinoy

    There was no need for a ten count. I think most people would laugh if Bayless started counting, seriously, it would have looked silly.
    Bayless didn't even start counting, he was just looking at Manny, confused, as if to see if he was even breathing, or if he was dead. Couple seconds later, he waves it off.

  • @Marz916
    @Marz916 12 лет назад

    Alex Ariza is doing a great job at winging it!
    From what I read, he seems pretty damn knowledgeable, and considering Khan, Julio Cesar Chavez, and Manny Pacquiao have all bulked up, he is doing a fantastic job, whether it's legal or not. Just saying.

  • @lane99
    @lane99 12 лет назад

    The KO punch wasn't a "lucky" punch per se. But it was a bit of a fluke. Pac's foot clipped JMM's, and Pac lost his balance and his upper body fell forward, exposing his chin more. But for that, the punch mightn't have been landed so flush.

  • @joeygonzo
    @joeygonzo 12 лет назад

    Whatever, the right hand was a loopy punch. It was all arms.
    If it was a short right with some hip behind it or even a shotgun jab, it'd look normal.

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  12 лет назад

    Nope it was a very legal punch.

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  12 лет назад

    U and I were watching different fights, he was behind vs Casamayor and looked slow, he was in trouble in the 1st Diaz fight before pulling away, and I don't even have to talk about Katsidis. Manny blows through all 3 of them case closed.
    -There is a distinct difference in their styles and successful aggressive fighters like Tyson and Pacquiao will always make more money and get more opportunities than very smart counter punchers like Marquez who will be healthier in the long run.

  • @kapiatgatas
    @kapiatgatas 12 лет назад

    @Islander. I agree. Marciano-Walcott. I don't know how powerful is Jersey Joe. But Rocky has a punch data close to 900lbs. If that was not 900lbs that hit Jersey Joe? Punches and power at times are deceiving. Tarver is not known to be a knockout artist. But he hit Roy Jones Jr. and looks like a walking zombie. We know Foreman was a beast, a monster in his early days? How strong is he at 45, to KO Moore? The punch was a short right.

  • @raycorrea6099

    I thought Pacquiao looked great until the knockout, lets not forget in his last three fights he has fought his nemesis twice and got robbed by Bradley. As long as the knockout doesn't have any lasting effects, Pacquiao should be good to carry on.

  • @kapiatgatas
    @kapiatgatas 12 лет назад

    That is true. Pac's left really does wonders. And I've seen stocky boxers go down. It has to be both muscles and the training. Do you think Arnold aka Mr. Universe punch harder because of his built. NO.. Gaining muscles is one. Working on the punch is another. But it does benefit professional boxers especially moving up in weight.

  • @Marz916
    @Marz916 12 лет назад

    Like I said, power punches, and one punch knock outs aren't always so black and white. Erik Morales landed plenty of blows, but didn't really wobble Manny, yet, Oscar Larios hurt Manny more than Morales ever did.
    Cotto and Margarito never really wobbled or hurt Manny, yet Nedal Hussein knocked down Manny with jab.
    This is the third time Pacquiao has been knocked out.

  • @hawkermustang
    @hawkermustang 12 лет назад

    Manny don't cry and make excuses. That was a perfect punch from JMM. I said on youtube that by Manny going all out for a KO he puts himself at risk of getting hurt. JMM plays off of reckless aggression. Anyone that jumps chin first into a power shot will get knocked out. This is why guys like Roy Jones and Mayweather said screw the fans, they were happy to win a fight on points and let the fans cry. Its very risky to be over aggressive.

    i saw the first knockdown Pac feet were not set rigth and JMM was sitting on his punch more he didn't try to circle a round Pac like last time which makes alot of sense. Also Alexa claims they didnt do his strength training .Nacho explain his plan to a news reporter and it was to stay in midrange and as the fight went on Nacho tells JMM to ditch that plan but JMM was stubborn and said no to him. which leads me to beileve they were looking for the knock out from the start

  • @kapiatgatas
    @kapiatgatas 12 лет назад

    Good observation. But the punch should hit the mark. And not just any punch or mark/target. The punch must have power. The mark Hatton got hit, was below the ear or between the ear and the jaw. Others go down from an upper cut. Every boxer is different. Williams got hit close to the temple.

    best pacquiao weve seen fighting jmm.after the 5th i was so sure that jmm is done.jmm said he knew pac can knock himout anymoment after that paxc was basically controlling the fight then the final second comes.i hope jmm give pac the rematch coz pac gave him all the chance in world to do hes thing then finally did it.thrs no fight outhre that make sense for pac its the 5th fight or floyd hes not gnna redeem himself fighting the likes of rios garcia or bradley.

  • @kapiatgatas
    @kapiatgatas 12 лет назад

    I was at ringside of Pacquiao-Hussein. Hussein countered a short left off Pac's right jab. It was so funny, because Pac fell straight down as if someone trip his legs or cut off his legs. I think that was the first legit KD of Pac. The first 2 KO loses, I considered it non legit. Because Pac did make weight and has to dehydrate or loose weight before the fight. Like fighting with an empty stomach. This KO is legit. No ones complaining in team Pacquiao.

  • @Marz916
    @Marz916 12 лет назад

    Also, in the second fight, a left hook hurt Manny badly at the end of the round. Marquez has power, as does Pacquiao, never every clean right hand that Manny lands is going to floor Marquez, just like not every clean right hand that Marquez lands is going to deck Manny. A lot of things are involved, timing, exchanges, blind shots. A lot. Power punches aren't always so black and white.
