One thing to tell you about driving a manual transmission that will save you grief - especially if you keep the car for a while. When you pull up to a stop light on red, put the shifter in neutral and let out the clutch pedal. If you are at the light and you have it in first gear with the clutch pedal in, you will prematurely wear out the clutch's throw out bearing. The throw out bearing is connected to the actuator from the clutch pedal and it rotates against the clutch springs. The pressure on the throw out bearing while the holding the clutch pedal in will cause wear on bearing. It is much better to let the clutch spin in neutral. Also, You should not drive with your hand resting on the gear shift knob. The weight gets transferred down to the gearbox.
Holding the clutch is also a lot of pressure on the drive shaft against the thrust bearing that isn't getting much oil while idling and the motor is way more expensive. ;
Dope car! I drove a 5 speed. It was an older Honda lol. I like the way you discuss and breakdown the different points. It makes the info easily understood!❤️
Awesome stuff man, keep it up! I opted for the auto because of my (before covid) commute - but now I work from home full time I wish I'd have bought the manual.. Love the car, love your vids. Stay safe!
Got my 6 speed Challenger R/T a little over a week ago. Huge step up from that Veloster I was driving. Took a few days to get used to the clutch as it is noticeably heavier than the Veloster's, but man is it a blast to drive! Awesome video!
@@RUBIX3 second gear was a real kick in the pants having driven the Veloster for so long. I can't wait for tomorrow. The drive to work is going to be awesome!
I just happened upon your vids and they've been very informative as to manual driving. I just bought a 16 RT Shaker Plus and it's been quite different from previous Toyota manuals I've driven so it's been quite the learning experience. I found the Clutch Delay delete to be useful for the first gear take off. Often I'd feel the clutch not engage when trying to take off quickly and really made it awkward at times because of that. I did get the Barton and haven't seen if you got one yet. Absolutely do it, bro! It's so awesome and it does alleviate some of the issue with the cup holders being in the way since you can adjust the angle and the shifts are shorter. Also no longer hit my phone when going on reverse and it's in the pro clip.
I don’t know how this video got pass me😂, almost to that 1k Brotha, Keep pushing👍🏾, Right here with big support💪🏾. I love the manuals but just not everyday for me, Sounds amazing in Manual though🤟🏾
Another thing you can do when you're on a hill is use the handbrake as you're trying to take off. You get it to the rpm to go and put it in gear and release the handbrake
@RUBIX3 I didn't even think about that. Bad part is I was watching the part with the pedal cam while typing and didn't think about it. Is it one where you push the pedal again to release it or you pull a latch to release it?
Good afternoon, I have some question - with a manual transmission, there is an " ECO " mode - that is, there is a shutdown of the 4 cylinder? And in general, what is the fuel consumption you get when driving normally with a manual transmission?
@@RUBIX3 I do the same lol. I had 2 manuals but traded one in for an automatic then turned right around and got a project car thats manual lol. Can't get away from them
Gas mileage, thank the Feds. It will lock you out if you hit around 20mph in first gear then shift. Honestly if just driving normal, you are in 2nd gear well before 20mph. If you stomp on it in first, it won't lock you out too.
This is where I got it from. It is for a Charger but I repurposed it. 😎 www.luxeautoconcepts.net/collections/dodge-charger-products/products/charger-front-bumper-hash-stripes
Two comments A) removing the fluid delay blockage he is talking about around 6:29 is to slow your shifts (Granny shift) to "soften the shock" when speed shifting. The benefit of this restriction is negligible at best but unhook the hose and with a pick pull the two pieces out (one looks like an X and the other a O (just a restriction in the line) and it shifts better and easier and faster. and B) The Barton shifter is very nice and precise but the reason the factory one is what some call vague is it is cushioned to be isolated and silent, most love the snick-snick notchy shift of the Barton but some have taken it out after a month cause it can be noisy and vibrate. I have had a few Hurst shifters in past cars and loved them but did notice some annoying chatter downshifting and just cruising with no load on the drive train.
Great video does give me. Info on a stick be honest never rideing a. Stick do plan to get one down the line for good. Track car. This will help me. Later down the road .
Personally, I have always just kept a really small idol with the accelerator pushed in a Lil bit, and the clutch pushed in a Lil bit while being on a hill. Basically just match the 2 to keep the car in place. Hard to explain in text. But once you get it down you can keep the car in one spot with out it rolling backwards, or without it rolling forward, or stalling out, and once that light changes then you can take off smoothly. It's definitely something to practice on a hill. But I never drove a stic with that much horse power. So I'm not sure if it's even possible to do with that kind of power tbh lol.
I understood what you are saying. I usually didn’t have to do that to keep from rolling back. I could find the friction point pretty quick while on a hill.
@@RUBIX3 The only time I really really did that on a hill. Is on them really steep hills. But on them small hills I would keep foot on the break and was able to be quick enough to release the clutch out and get my foot over the the gas and take off smoothly. But always hated doing that on them really huge hills with a car on my a*s lol
I drove nothing but a manual the first 21 years of driving, Ford Pinto, Ford Ranger, Pontiac Trans-am, Subaru Legacy. The Trans-am was a 400ci 4 speed. Nothing back then had hydraulic clutches. You think the new Challenger Clutch is stiff, try a 70's muscle car.. My commute to work with the Trans-am took 90 minutes to go 12 miles.. now that is hell on earth in that car.. lol My 16 yo daughter drives manual, passed her driver test in it. ruclips.net/video/mbjLraw8N30/видео.html

Manual is the way to go. It’s bad ass how the challenger kicks the stick over to the driver i don’t know any other cars that do that. It’s also theft protection cause most these suckas out here don’t know how to drive one so they can’t take it and if they do it’s noticeable or they don’t make it far. Lol.

I’ve enjoyed manuals for years. When I had my 2011 2ss Camaro it was a manual.
Definitely a different but fun driving experience
Good afternoon, I have some question - with a manual transmission, there is an " ECO " mode - that is, there is a shutdown of the 4 cylinder? And in general, what is the fuel consumption you get when driving normally with a manual transmission?
The manuals don’t have eco mode. Normal I can get 22-23mpg in the highway with normal driving. One time I averaged 28mpg on a road trip.
I love having a manual as a daily but having an automatic is a bit of an enjoyable break lol
