It amazes me how many people come to test ride a horse in tennis shoes. I guess they have never been stepped on by a horse or gotten their foot stuck in a stirrup before.
Most Barns ive gone to wont let you even put a saddle on a horse with tennis shoes, let alone ride! At a lesson barn i used to volunteer at, a mom threw a fit because she wasn't allowed to stay with her kid while they did their lesson. Like full on adult sized toddler tantrum. And why wasnt she allowed? She was wearing FLIP FLOPS
I can't ride anymore due to kidney failure but I love to help at the stables where my grandson rides. I find builders Rigger boots are perfect. Steel toe caps, leather, warm lined and less than £20! I truly do recommend them. I bought a pair for the stable owner and she loves them for when she isn't riding.
I love Brooks attitude with horses. She's so quiet and gentle and gives them time to adjust. No matter what happens with Janice at least she will have experienced gentleness and kindness. And that's important.
Breaks my heart that there is no fairy tale ending for Janis..... -hoping the clogs will help her and just pray that she can bring her foal into this world and enjoy motherhood for a little while...
Just started watching this episode. No matter what area I work in, 8,12 or 16 hours, busy or slow as a nurse, my job is not ever as hard as Paulies. Hats off to that man.
Watching from Newport N.C. I just love Paulie and how you all are trying to give Janice some comfort and save the foal. I know there is nothing that can be done to save Janice but giving the foal a chance is nothing short of amazing / heroic!!!
For anyone who has extra acreage! Find a local farmer or rescue that can use the land for hay. We do this with about 7 acres of our property and it makes that portion agricultural rate on property taxes. It makes a big difference in the tax rate. Saves you money and benefits others.!! Wish we were closer we would let Pony Tales have that hay!! Great Work you are doing!!
Hey guys I wanted to say thank you for helping poor Janis. And I hope she has healthy foal very soon too. I love her new still too. She i will be living like a Queen . I hope Pauly can fix her feet too . She is a beautiful draft too. All my 💕🥰❤️🤗💖❤️ too.
Hopefully you guys aren't getting any bad weather up there in Wisconsin. Just the amount of slow rain that allows the hay to grow and grow. You guys are amazing people❣ Sending Prayers for Health, safety, strength for everyone that is helping, working, ❣🙏✝️🕊
Janis has the best help she could now. Glad Pauly did get the shoe of whitout hurting him self to much. And to see her in the stall in the end. She got a loving home. Bubbles did go to a good home and thats so nice. Sorry to hear about the little hedgehog. Dr Dave always explains everything so nicly. You do a very good job ALL of you.
❤ Janis is a luck lady to have found people who go above and beyond to help her through this difficult time ❤ you are doing everything you can to help her ❤ her little one will be something special if you are successful. She’s in the best place to try and help her get to the goal post❤
All animals deserve to live with love and care. These people try to adopt horses to trustworthy homes. For all the armchair farmers and wanna' be rescuers in the comments, it's not easy, it takes effort. Pony Tales has been around and they know what they're doing. We all have different ways working and saving animals, so bullying someone just because they do their work their own way needs to stop. Rescuers also deserve not to be bullied by other rescues either. Pony Tales shows the horse's stories and their treatment and training and the ALL do their jobs with care. They've been doing this work for a long time yet some comment as if they don't do anything right. If people only want to fight and criticize against each other it doesn't help the horses and many people leave rescue because of all the "worthless opinions". Dentals ,medical treatment, hoof care, wound care...etc doesn't feel good but it needs to be done. These rescuers works so good together after the animals get away from neglectful owners.
She almost acts like a mare we rescued who would bite when you started cinching. We found out that she was part Arabian, and had very sensitive skin. We think her former owners were careless when they cinched her up and pinched her skin. If she couldn't bite, she would close her eyes and chew frantically on the bit as though to distract herself from the pain she expected. We put a sheepskin cover on the cinch, and after a month she calmed right down, began to believe it wasn't going to hurt. Some people treat horses like they're machines and Arabians especially become neurotic because of it. His patience and kindness with her are definitely paying off. 💗
Really hope Janice can get a clog and make it through till she foals, can’t imagine how painful the shoe and its removal was for her. Always a good video when we get to see Brook 🫡
Paulie is amazingly strong, and when he took that kick and just stood aside...not everyone has that kind of self control. Amazing man. Was he a rodeo rider? He has that kind of poise. Edit, talking about the opening scene with Janis
My farrier was a bronc rider. He just hangs on to the foot and gets flung around until they finish fidgeting. Haaa. Then he giggles. They love him but I think they play some games with him cuz they can.
That's great that Dave sees small animals. When I had guinea pigs it was hard to find a small animal vet. I live across the pond in Michigan. Love binge watching your videos!!
I've often wondered why licks aren't tried, or at least some grain to make it easier on the horses who aren't used to having farrier visits or have painful feet?
Yes, there are rubber mats in the stall as well. More shavings were added to the stall as well. We are using a lot of shavings in her double wide, so any contribution of shavings would be greatly appreciated! We buy them from a local business for $175 a pallet (30 bags). It is called Wisconsin Ag Shavings in Bloomer, WI. You could even pay him directly for the shavings you would like to purchase for her care if you would like. Thank you for the offer! We appreciate you. :-)
Thankyou thankyou for being so kind a patient with poor Janice, and making the best of a terrible situation for her. I know her poor life has been horrible, I hope her legacy is that her foal will never know the pain its mother suffered and has a life of love, care and a great farrier like Pauly. Thankyou and bless you all love from the UK.❤❤❤❤
It's unfortunate that boots were'nt big enough for Janice... Different hoof glues and adhesives are great to build up the wall and/or soles, but the costs are also great, especially for a draft hooves... But have You ever tried scotchcast or equicast with laminitic cases? I used it with much success - it's cheap (at least in my country), adheres quite good and not falling off (different than boots - although quite usefull with laminitis, because it's easy to take them off, treat the hoof, trim etc., but some horses are loosing them constantly, and the cost is also quite high-again, at least where I'm from). Usually the scotchcast lasts up to about 2-3 weeks on the paddock/pasture (probably in the stall it can last longer). It's also possible to put a hoof putty or other form of cushion under the soles with scotchcast, and You can also use it Yourselves if the hoof doesn't need trimming, so maybe it' would be worth a try?
WOW, this was a fast hour. I enjoyed this very much and thanks for sharing. All of you people are doing God's work and I thank you very much for all the hard work you do!!!
Now that you've opened up that stall, I'd keep it that way for any other mommy to be's that you rescue. A foaling stall is an asset!!! I would make the attached run longer though so mommies and babies can still exercise
I am a newbie to your videos and have loved the few I have watched. Love horses but do not know anything about their care. It is so interesting to watch and learn a few things. I love Janis and hope she can have her baby and be a mom for awhile. She moves like she is in so much pain, hope she is doing well and gets her boot or whatever it is called that will hopefully help her. Love, love the channel and have subscribed already. You all look like a well oiled machine, a family. Do any of you get attached to particular animals? 💗🐎💗🐴
Gday team ;-) Congratulations exceptional job Brook & Sassy she will make an exceptional cow horse cranky attitude take no crud from cows..or human’s lol.. Loved the poop ladies explaining their job so fascinating..thanks Pauley should be cloned such an exceptional man.. If Sassy is reactive to being touched on a certain area of her body, ie where the cinch would go, etc, Brook steps back and uses the stick to touch that area until Sassy relaxes rather than doing it with her hand and potentially getting kicked, bit, etc.
It amazes me how many people come to test ride a horse in tennis shoes. I guess they have never been stepped on by a horse or gotten their foot stuck in a stirrup before.
What got me was the short denim shorts in snowy weather ?? I was very confused to be honest..

I ❤ Janice’s deluxe condo! What a wonderful act of kindness for such a pain filled sweet horse. Well Done👏👏👏👏

We love Pauly. Did anyone notice how big Janice’s Hoof was to Paul us head!! Oh my gosh I got such anxiety watching him work on her.
Aaaww it breaks my heart to see miss Janis in pain.🇨🇦❤

Thank them for the educational poop content for us! Unexpected, but very well explained - it’s always cool to learn medical stuff

Bubbles SCORED!!!❤
Lmao I love Bubbles, trying to see if she'll be spooked by the stirrups flapping and she just stared into the distance or ate grass 😂
Great job guys. Love Bubbles. She went to her new home with a friend. 😊

Pauly is 1 in a million. Youre blessed to have him.❤
Central North Dakota watching. Love the videos. You all are amazing caretakers of the beautiful animals.
I've often wondered why licks aren't tried, or at least some grain to make it easier on the horses who aren't used to having farrier visits or have painful feet?
LIcks are great also a strip n of duct tape keeps them busy when attached to nose.
Are there rubber mats underneath the sawdust in Janis stall! Anything we could buy that might help?
Yes, there are rubber mats in the stall as well. More shavings were added to the stall as well. So kewl to see Miss Janice's baby moving and kicking at the end. I've been sending her healing energy for those feet and that baby.
She needs about a foot of shavings in the stall. Janis will make it.
Awwwwso airry about Chog.I have had hedgehogs, and were such wonderful critters .

So happy for Janice! Brought tears to my eyes.
Hope everyone is safe after those storms in WI
The bad storms missed us, but it sure did thunder and downpour for a while!
Really not a good idea to hard tie a horse if it has a bad spook there’s noway to release the horse without it or someone getting hurt.
I’ve sent them a few Steve Young horse ties that allow release
Good call yes

What was the stick whip thing for when checking to see if Sassy liked the saddle and then when checking to see if she reacted to the cinch? ?
If Sassy is reactive to being touched on a certain area of her body, ie where the cinch would go, etc, Brook steps back and uses the stick to touch that area until Sassy relaxes rather than doing it with her hand and potentially getting kicked, bit, etc.
