Here are some roles Brian Blessed was BORN to play: Professor Challenger, the Lost World, Saltheart Foamfollower from the as-yet-not-adapted-for-the-screen Chronicles of Thomas Coventant the Unbeliever.
I love Hamill as much as the next geek/nerd but no, good grief no, Hamill has no where _near_ the presence this man has. Hamill has so much presence you spelled his name wrong...
I saw an interview with Guiness once. HE was more annoyed at being asked to say "May the Force Be With You" all the time but he seemed to be happy with the movies and their then freshness.
Was about to say the same. The impression I got was that Guinness did like the films themselves (after all, he agreed to make cameos in EMPIRE and JEDI) and said he liked the mythology and messages of them. What he disliked was being solely associated with that role all the time, with many fans constantly hounding him and completely ignoring the rest of his body of work. It's a shame because Guinness was a great actor who did so many classic films and was great at both comedy and drama. Check out OUR MAN IN HAVANA, CROMWELL, HITLER: THE LAST TEN DAYS, MURDER BY DEATH, and of course, almost every single David Lean film to see what a great actor her was.
Guinness said the films were joyful escapism but 'people shouldn't read too much into it'. He liked the fact there wasn't any crude nastiness about them and were technically brilliant. Later, by the mid-80s, he was annoyed and weary with people persistently coming up to Guinness and pushing him to say Star Wars lines when he felt he left those movies behind.
Yes, that was pretty much it, but he also tried to masquerade it as some kind of social issue and ''deep concern'' for the future generation, which was a bit hypocritical, when the fact that some people remembered him ONLY as Obi-Wan was more than enough to justify his anger. Seriously, anyone whose knowledge of movies extends farther than 1980s would understand his beef with Star Wars. They are great films, and I am a huge fan, but I still feel it is insulting to the man's talent and artistic achievements that, for so many- TOO many people, he is just ''Obi-Wan Kneobi''!
I have immense respect for this man. His ability to get into character and embrace even the weirdness is something I very much admire. He looks like he was having a great time and that’s fun to see.
Every time someone says, “I don’t like Brian Blessed.” Brian Blessed shows up there and-ah, wait what?! Brian Blessed!?! NO WAIT!! I DIDN’T MEAN IT I WAS SAYIN-AAAHGGHH!!! HE JUST PUNCHED ME IN THE NOSE....it was awesome.....I think I just grew another foot and gained more muscle from that.....
"He's a British institution, and should possibly be in one." That was really good! BTW, how on earth is it possible that this channel has so few views and subscribers? No one else is doing anything like this, and Jamie's project is amazing.
Hey Peter! Thanks for taking the time to watch the Brian B video. I dunno re views and subs, but I like to think the rest of youtube will catch up with us lot eventually :-)
^ True! I actually like the character of Jar Jar after familiarizing myself with Ahmed Best. Guy is awesome and is genuinely attached to his characer. Also people who say Jake Lloyd acted badly, he was GOD LEVEL compared to other kids who were auditioned for the role.
Or a passionate politician in the Galactic Senate. Maybe a key figure who opposes Palpatine and gets murdered because of it. He would have brought much needed life and energy to those scenes.
+Lavon Media (Lavon) that's because he initially intended on him being a secret sith, but he backed out of it once how he saw the public reacted to him.
Even as an American, Brian Blessed has been one of my favorite actors since I was a kid. I remember watching Flash Gordon when it came out, I think I was about 8-9, and the movie was awful, but he was awesome.
i will watch ANYTHING he's in. Check this out > ruclips.net/video/spS71LKcA3Y/видео.html The fact it's a british political comedy panel show (thing) doesn't matter, Brian is guest host and it's a beautiful shambles.
A lovely, lovely man. I was lucky spend quite a lot of time in his presence when a friend was working in the same show as him in the West End. He was extremely kind.
On behalf of all Star Wars fans, we cannot thank you enough for all the interviews with these classic actors Jamie. You should have a minimum of 1 Million subscribers. You are amazing man, Thank you so much for all these interviews!
Jamie, I just have to say. Not sure how you do it, but you put out the greatest interviews! The y way you ask questions, the way it's edited... it's all awesome! keep at it! As far as suggestions, you should see if you can track down Guy Henry! I'd love to see you interview him.
He was at Manchester comic con round about December last year, Me and my dad were going to ask for an autograph but his line was INSANLY long, Alot of people love Brian
Ok, this seriously needs a wider audience. @Jamie Stangroom - you make fantastic videos, I enjoy watching them a great deal! Keep up the good work and cheers from Bulgaria!

Holly Sh*t!.This guy's the very definition of awesome!.I knew who the actor was.But I never knew he was this wild!.I would love to grab a few pints and hang out with this man..I'm just not sure I would survive the experience..
He really is a fascinating actor. I got hooked watching him on Black Adder. Blessed, with his booming voice, could read the phone book and make it interesting.

That Alec Guinness impression was so spot on. Amazing!
absolutely!!!
Nic Fader RIGHT?? That was insane!
I know! He should totally be asked to play Obi-Wan in voice roles!
Here are some roles Brian Blessed was BORN to play: Professor Challenger, the Lost World, Saltheart Foamfollower from the as-yet-not-adapted-for-the-screen Chronicles of Thomas Coventant the Unbeliever.
Holly sh!t, he played Professor Challenger from The Lost World? I loved that show! BTW His Alec Guinness impression its the best I heard.
I just want to be in the same room as this man. Holy shit, he has an amazing presence.
CurtisAlfeld he must tell great stories!
I love Hamill as much as the next geek/nerd but no, good grief no, Hamill has no where _near_ the presence this man has. Hamill has so much presence you spelled his name wrong...
CurtisAlfeld you mean jar jar? its not real man
He IS quite the sexual Yeti :P
needs a role in game of thrones to liven it up.
He's completely insane. In a good way.
Accurate.
Similar to Oliver Reed
or Dan Aykroyd
Sometimes you need this sort of crazy in the world.
Legit insane?
Brian Blessed would have made a great Tom Bombadil.
My god, now I know is missing in my life.
Yes!
@Java, you are also missing the word 'what' from your sentence
oh my god
Damn. You're right. In a 100% way. Well done.
I think it was more Guinness was sick of people only talking to him about Obi Wan rather than his other work.
Snag Prophet yes, exactly. It's like with Harrison Ford.
I saw an interview with Guiness once. HE was more annoyed at being asked to say "May the Force Be With You" all the time but he seemed to be happy with the movies and their then freshness.

I literally thought they played Alec Guinness' voice during that impression.
Ha, he did it pretty darn good didn't he?
Jamie Stangroom is there any way we can see the whole interview? That would be awesome! I️ imagine he probably said more about Alec following that?
I have immense respect for this man. His ability to get into character and embrace even the weirdness is something I very much admire. He looks like he was having a great time and that’s fun to see.
Thanks for watching
God, I love this man! He lives more in 5 minutes than most of us do in a decade!
His energy is FRIGGIN COSMIC!!!
he's so good. I really recommend his book in audio form!
I could sit and listen to Brian blessed talk all day. That man is amazing.
Likewise
I swear, he was ill-used
You have to love Brian Blessed. There's no other option.
richardathome65 if you don’t, you’re simply in the wrong and must own up to it.

You're right, I'm sure at some point down the road this channel will blow up (in a good way).
How the fuck do you get these people with only 8,000 subs?
Razamataz Productions yeah he definitely needs more subs. This channel is a hidden gem.
Cheers guys :-)
I think he works for Lucasfilm. He was in an episode of the Star Wars show iirc.
He's a journalist, this is only his hobby
Yeah... 'cause this isn't "journalism" ***sigh***
Brian Blessed Voice interpretations are spot on 5:16 his Alec Guinness is in a league all his own.
When Brian Blessed tells you he liked Jar Jar Binks then Jar Jar Binks becomes untouchable.
ha :-)
Jamie Stangroom hey check out my teen titans go rant I went apeshit on that
Heesa made him Bombad General...
How cute, he's still having so much fun with it
He loves it!
Suddenly this man has given me great respect for Boss Nass!
You'd feel that respect for the rest of the prequels too if you knew the behind-the-scenes of how they were made.
^ True! I actually like the character of Jar Jar after familiarizing myself with Ahmed Best. Guy is awesome and is genuinely attached to his characer.
Also people who say Jake Lloyd acted badly, he was GOD LEVEL compared to other kids who were auditioned for the role.
A shame Boss Nass wasn't on The Clone Wars, was replaced with a Gungan-eloquent Jar Jar lookalike.
This dude always gets super quality interviews.
I love you, mega salty chips :-)
Brian Blessed is 81!? Thought he was 59-63 at most.
P.S. Brian should of been a Jedi.
Or a passionate politician in the Galactic Senate. Maybe a key figure who opposes Palpatine and gets murdered because of it. He would have brought much needed life and energy to those scenes.
Exactly. Why they made him that green frog thing is beyond me. That casting selection was abysmal.
Don't use "of" in place of "have."
We need to clone Brian Blessed, and record the real Brian and clone Brian having a conversation.

Brian Blessed is an absolute legend! I feel that as long as people like him continue to come into existence, humanity's going to be ok.
I can't tell you how many 'babies' I had to cut from this interview, what a guy!!
I could listen to him tell stories for hours.
The Darth Vader anecdote is brilliant
I liked that one a lot!
George should've listened to him...
Yup! Agree 100%!
Darth Mawrak George Lucas: Jar Jar is the key to all of this.
+Lavon Media (Lavon) that's because he initially intended on him being a secret sith, but he backed out of it once how he saw the public reacted to him.
Mike Spearwood I already know that. Plus I quoted that from George's mouth.
the guy that made babbling noices
Brian Blessed is fucking incredible. No hyperbole.
Good god what a natural and entertaining story teller!
Keep doing what you're doing, this is immortalizing unknown Star Wars history!
I'll keep on it for sure. Thanks for the continued support, Giovanni.
He was perfect in Flash Gordon
Gordon is alife and Disney's Star Trash 🚮 is dead.
that's all he is really known for. Good job he got that gig.
Thumb up for Brian Blessed. A unique and wonderful man.
hear hear
My favorite part is Brian talking about the fax machine being "Jaws".
Never has a description of a fax machine been so entertaining
Brian Blessed, a national treasure, it'll be a huge loss when he's gone.
this seems like a tv project, great quality!
Nice one, Carlos! Thanks for watching :-)
This man oozes character and charm. Such an incredible personality.
He does! Thanks for watching.
holy shit his alec Guinness impression is amazing
Nailed. It.
Fantastic interview, thanks for hosting it! Always a treat to listen to the mighty Brian Blessed!
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching :)

When Brian Blessed thinks your actor is overdoing it a bit, you know you've got problems!
When I was little when Boss Nass would do that weird mouth thing it would make me cry in fear haha.
lmao
At 8 years old i thought the mouth thing was stupid and silly
Probably because he reminded you of Cliff Racers.
He's a very exciting person
This guy is multi talented his voices were spot on.
Haha, what a hillarious actor! How lucky I'd feel to have a grandpa like him :D
That would be a lot of fun!
That was a terrific Sebastian Shaw impression. It's like he never left us ...
It’s hard to visualize Brian Blessed without the crazy hair from Black Adder
i love that lucas said "goddamn mad bastard" never figured that he talked like that irl, nice little thing to learn
Brian Blessed is a boss indeed.
Boom!
A lovely, lovely man. I was lucky spend quite a lot of time in his presence when a friend was working in the same show as him in the West End. He was extremely kind.
Glad you got to meet him, Ruth...it's certainly an experience :-)
This is still THE BEST thing om the Internet! Laughed so hard. The man is truly brilliant.
Thank you Jamie!
Thanks man! Glad you’re still enjoying it
This the holy grail of Star Wars RUclips videos.
🙌🏻
What an absolute unit of a man. I had no idea he was Boss Nass. Brilliant!
This guy is amazing.
I agree!
NATIONAL TREASURE..I might actually watch the whole crappy thing now I know Blessed was in it.
My favorite will always be him playing Voltan in Flash Gordon. Best part of that cheese fest.
Blackadder for me!
DIIIIIVVVEEE!!!
BB is the best. He made that TV blob "Return to treasure island" a joy with his performance as Long John Silver.
Long live big BB!
That man is as mad as a box of balloons.
What Brian Blessed??? Nope, King of Ham though, plays to the crowd.
:-)
A little nonsense, now and then,---
is relished by the wisest men.
bass1bone I️ feel like your comment deserves more attention lol
Brian Blessed, absolute fraking Legend. Meet him once and he even did an answer machine message for me. Such a gent.
Awesome!
Great video series!
Thanks guys! Love the recent rocket train vid :-)
Thanks!
Thank you for tracking this bat down.
He's insane
...ly talented.
You're welcome :-)
Brian Blessed as a Jedi Knight would be far more interesting than a stupid Naboo king...Potential ruined...
beatlecost maybe a combination of King Richard from Black Adder and a jedi. that would be interesting
problem is Brian Blessed overwhelms anyone he's next to.
Could have been one of the Jedi council members playing off Yoda. That could work
Haha, and a little bit of Robin Hood's father...
P.S Chiswick!!!Fresh horses!!!
beatlecost They could have had him do both, just like they had Silas Carson play Ki-Adi-Mundi and Nute Gunray.

Hey Lucas, thanks for the kind words mate! I do really really appreciate it. Guy Henry is a good shout, I'll add him to the list! Thanks dude.
OMG i was in tears, this guy is amazing!
hes 81!!!!!!
He was at Manchester comic con round about December last year, Me and my dad were going to ask for an autograph but his line was INSANLY long, Alot of people love Brian
What a wonderful man.
That he is, Mark, that he is.
Man, what an amazing voice talent Brian Blessed is.
OH SHIT!!! THE DUDE FROM BLACK ADDER!!!
Been a huge fan of Brian Blessed since the I Claudius days. A truly Brit original.
How Rood! Meesa Big Boss now, yousan be callin me Senate Jar Jar.
yousa makin mexico pay for the wallsa
Boss! It's all for Revenge!
Augustus in “I, Claudius”, 1976.
Didn't know we could do such very good impressions... Great actor...
I don't think delivery was the problem with Jar-Jar
He's obviously a friend to George so he isn't going to place the blame at his feet. I wonder if George blames the delivery too.
the Gungans as a whole are a issue not just Jar Jar.
The problem is nostalgia.
There was no problem with Jar Jar Binks. He was funny.
"Jar Jar is the answer to all this."
I didn't know he was playing Boss Nass. I always loved Brian Blessed. In every movie he was in, he was may favorite and still is.
It's amazing how many people didn't know he was in that movie. I certainly didn't know at the time. Thanks for watching :-)
he's one of the best actors ever, shame he doesn't get many blockbuster parts...
Agreed!
One of a kind
Jamie your Star Wars cast interviews are FANtastic -- so glad I subscribed; I love Boss Nass. Here is a Jabba-sized thumbs up! :-D
Hey man! Thanks for all your kind words and Jabba-sized thumbs up (youtube should really make that an option), I really appreciate it :-)
2:53 LOL never knew how funny this actor is!!! I wish i could tell stories in the way he does!
The guys a hero! Really recommend checking out more of his interviews and shows
thanks i will ;)
Check out his appearance on QI and as host of HIGNFY!
If Brian Blessed said anything, I'd believe it. Such a commanding and educated voice.
This guy is an absolute gem.
Thanks for watching, Joshua
Ok, this seriously needs a wider audience. @Jamie Stangroom - you make fantastic videos, I enjoy watching them a great deal! Keep up the good work and cheers from Bulgaria!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that. Send my regards to Bulgaria!
This makes me want to watch Phantom Menace.......
Don't tell anyone please 😂
Haha, it's our little secret ;-)
I love the prequels. Fuck the haters.
The Phantom Menace is great!
I love the prequels
Such a charming fella! Love his impressions. Good job finding all this people man! Much love.
Thank you, Kyriakos! Bryan B is literally a man mountain, love him!
The entirety of this channel is something you can find on the bonus disc of the upcoming blu-ray re-release.
Oh wait. No it's not. T__T
;-)
Gottem
There's is T_T in your comment and in your profile pic. Is it a sort of metanarrative?
This was interview very entertaining. It really made my day.
Thanks, happy to hear that :-)
I love The Phantom Menace so damn much. Most underrated film of all time.
Chris Carbine I was seven when it came out, and was already a fan of the original films, so phantom menace blew my mind, looking back now it for the most part it is cheesy and over the top, with bad dialogue but then so are all the others. Also hands down best duelling in the series.
Joe Vines... Ep3 had the best light saber duel of all time lol.
I was eleven when I saw TPM hit theaters and I've loved it ever since - best in the saga, IMO, followed closely by Return of the Jedi.
You may love it but it wasn't under-rated.
It was the best of the prequels, but that's not saying much.
Cannot believe you got Brian Blessed! He's one of my idols!!
Hey Conor! Thanks for watching, dude.
Boss Nass is the guy from Black Adder II! "You have a woman's purse!"
:-)
+Jamie Stangroom I didn't realize it was the same guy. I wish he had been a live action character instead, because his actions with his eyebrows and eyes are hilarious.
+Jamie Stangroom and I should clarify that I mean the way he speaks and acts as himself as being hilarious. The gungan speak not so much.
I hear you!
Captain Rum was played by Tom Baker. Mr. Blessed did play Richard IV in series one though.
This guy is awesome. His impressions are great too. His Alec Guinness is very convincing.
God bless Boss Nass
Holly Sh*t!.This guy's the very definition of awesome!.I knew who the actor was.But I never knew he was this wild!.I would love to grab a few pints and hang out with this man..I'm just not sure I would survive the experience..
So glad I happened on this channel. Deserves tonnes more subscribers for various obvious reasons. Subscribed!
Thanks for stopping by, and for the sub. Lots more to come :-)
Supreme Leader Snoke is Boss Nass !!! xD
I knew it!
Priceless! Only Brian Blessed can get away with stuff like that.
Brian Blessed name should always be spelt 'BRIAN BLESSED!!!!!':D
true dat
He goes all over the place and can immediately return to be the most sane and calm person ever. What a being.
lol he's nuts but they are right he is a british institution. What a brilliant impression of Guiness.
He really is a fascinating actor. I got hooked watching him on Black Adder. Blessed, with his booming voice, could read the phone book and make it interesting.
Both funny and interesting :-)
Like most classic British actors of a certain generation, Brian Blessed tells about a tall tale a minute, but damn do I love him for it.
you deserve so many more subs let's get ya there
Thanks dude, let's do it! But before we hit the big time, I think we should start an exclusive 8k club to honour those who were here first.
Love Brian Blessed in Flash Gordon. I saw him live on the London stage in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. So entertaining!
You spelled *B R I A N B L E S S E D* wrong.
