    God, I want to cry. I was struggling so much with this and I couldn't figure it out to save my life. Everything I read didn't explain it in a way I could understand but then I came across this video. I finally get it and I can actually solve the stuff I'm studying now. I can't thank you enough for doing it for everyone

    what if it was a negative base to a negative exponent? Would the base still be a negative number?
    Excellent video btw

    • @miecaf
      @miecaf Год назад

      well you can try it out:
      -3^-2 (original expression)
      1/-3^2 (reciprocal)
      keep in mind that a negative in a reciprocal stays the same, since the meaning of a reciprocal is a number that you can multiply the original by to get one. so the base will stay the same. now you can keep solving the equation:
      1/-3*-3 = 1/9
      and that's your answer, so yes, you keep the base negative if you have a negative base, although you'll get the same answer if you don't.
