- Joshua Bell and Emanuel Ax perform "Spring Sonata" by Beethoven @GreeneSpaceNY.
On June 7, 2022, friends, colleagues, and family members of WQXR host Bob Sherman gathered in the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space to celebrate his 90th birthday. The evening was filled with music, conversation, and tributes to this long time radio personality.
From giving now-world-renowned musicians their radio debut on The Listening Room, hosting the longtime-running popular Young Artists Showcase, and producing the award-winning folk series Woody's Children, Bob Sherman has worked with WQXR for over sixty years to bring exciting programming to your ears.
In this special program featuring renowned musicians including Joshua Bell and the Emerson String Quartet, you'll hear composer and former WQXR employee John Corigliano reminisce about the old days at the station, and longtime supporter of The Young Artists Showcase, Terry McGraw, speak about the impact of Bob’s work on young musicians.

*LONG LIVE LUDWIG and JOSHIA BELL*
1. 28. 2023
Beautiful interpretation. I like Joshua Bell's friendly and non-arrogant way of telling the audience (after the first movement) that they are not supposed to applaud yet.
Very beautiful. Joshua Bell is an amazing violinist.
BEETHOVEN GENIO EM COMPOR ESTA SONATA E JOSHUA BELL GENIO EM INTERPRETA-LA. TUDO NOS LEVA AO GRANDIOSO CRIADOR QUE DEU TANTA GENEALIDADE AOS DOISL
Beethoven, trees, open sky and lastly mountains, I wish I could have done a long and technical line with you, Master of sentiment

Délicieusement beau👏 🎶💓🎶
❤
This is so beautiful I cannot say... these two are of course the most consummate professionals, and yet here they give us even more than we could dare to expect... such grace and dignity to this already sublime music... what more could we desire?
a calmer allegro for the 1st mvt?
so expressive !! Bravo
Absolutely incredible collaboration and, of course, pure delight! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
That side look of Joshua says a little bit low sound but pianist plays louder and louder
A superb performance by both musicians. I love this particular Sonata. It’s lively, melodious and enjoyable.
Sublime ❤
The sounds of breathing bothered me.
No me gustó mucho, el piano suena demasiado fuerte, ese piano no tiene buen sonido
Bravo !!
Thank you for your wonderful performance ~❤
👏👏👏👏👏👏❤🥰
Joshua è un angelo....🤗🥰
he is masked because this piano is like bazilion dollar
Пианисту двойка... Бэлл-молодец!
Great composition well performed by Joshua and his accompanying pianist.
Even though the entire orchestra is in this pianist's heart, I think the he use too much right pedal ( especially chromatic scale or other scales).
I didn't like the pianist
That's Emanuel Ax, one of the greatest American pianists ever. His recordings of the Beethoven piano concertos w/Andre Previn are renowned and I consider them to be absolute best interpretations out there. He is a Beethoven specialist, and ironically is being more faithful to Beethoven's wishes by employing the damper pedal more than you may be accustomed to; that is precisely how Beethoven played himself.
Sounds flat
OMG he does. He's also playing microtones in the Rondo 17:47 👎
Going back to the Itzhak Perlman recording with Azhkenazy
@@whocares_bear me too
@@whocares_bear Oistrakl an Oborin also
It does sound flat, and a bit tired. The same is true for many warhorse violinists of his and more senior generations.
Come on. Lose the mask
Please a little less gyration just let the music speak
