M.D Rananathan sir was indeed a genius. He has a unique voice and sings with extraordinary depth, especially in lower octaves. His exhaustive sangathis lingering around extensive range with subtle variation is par excellence. None can ever match his approach and delivery. Today's upcoming artist must listen to his concerts. I am blessed to have watched his live kacheris on many occasions ❤

Very happy to know there are so many fans for MDR, like me. I thought it is a very minority rasika crowd. I am wrong. He forgets himself 100% and immerses into Music. Musically Divine Ramanathan (MDR).

who could replace MDR,s soulful singing of Ritigowala, that too in mandara stayee. Every morning before star of the day if we listen his sober voice, the day will day will be cheerful. Having had the experience of listening to this genius live I still cherish the concerts. Thanks to the person posted this.

GKK.. There are (and were) not many musicians who will be willing to place the raga's importance before their own ego? Present simply the ragam without much "aarpatam" or dramatical embellishment to make feel ones own importance? The voice.. I wish there are more who can use the base and add beauty as the great one did.. It takes a bit of getting used to, I wish you would be able to spend a bit of time listening to the voice a few more times and then you would start appreciating it for what it's worth! Once hooked feel the magic for yourself
