Oster Pro 1200 Blender Review

  • Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Oster Pro 1200 Blender. LINK to Oster Pro 1200: amzn.to/2z9Zky0 It measures 14.25 inches tall, 7.25 inches wide and 8 inches deep. The cord length is 30 inches. It looks sleek in brushed nickel.
The jar is glass and holds 6 cups or 1.25 liters. The jar lid has a cap which also serves as a 2 ounce measuring cup. The stainless steel blade is supposed to move forwards and in reverse for even blending. We’ll test that out in a minute. The blade is 50% larger than Oster’s previous models. So this should be an improved average priced Oster blender. The All metal drive is generally more durable than plastic drives. Oster offers a 10 year warranty on the all metal drive. A 24 ounce blender cup and lid are included with this unit. This same model is available with a food processor attachment for about $30 more.
The base has an on/off button, stop button and Pulse which is best to crush ice and chop food. Select speed from low, medium or high. And the 3 pre-programmed settings smoothies, food chop and milkshakes. After a cycle is finished, the unit will automatically turn off.
When you first get the unit, wash the removable parts in warm soapy water and dry.
To put the unit together, place the sealing ring over the blade and put inside the jar bottom. The bottom is threaded so make sure to turn it correctly. Place the jar in and turn the bottom clockwise to tighten. Place the jar straight down. The cap goes into the lid. The lid seems to sit snugly.
Liquids go in the jar first. Let’s try a green smoothie. 1 cup ice, ½ cup water, 1 banana, 1 cup chard, 1 cup of yogurt and apple pieces with skin on.
Always put your hand on the cover while using the blender. Press the power button and the light will blink so you can start using the blender. We’ll use high speed.
If you don’t use the blender for several minutes, it’ll turn off automatically.
You can blend hot liquids, just make sure you take the filler cap off and start on a low speed. Don’t fill hot liquid over the 4 cup or 1 Liter level. Press the off button, lift the jar straight up.
Let’s try using the smoothie cup. Pour in 1 cup milk, ½ cup blueberries, frozen banana cut up and tsp of honey. I always keep overripe bananas in the freezer, there’s no waste and they are perfect for smoothies. Remove the blade assembly from the jar and screw it on the cup. Don’t blend hot liquids in this cup. Put the cup straight down. Hold the cup while blending. I’ll try smoothie setting. Of course the blender is loud like most blenders.
To clean, turn the blender off and unplug. The jar is dishwasher safe. Turn the bottom counterclockwise to remove. The jar lid, filler cap and blade are top rack dishwasher safe. The sealing ring should be put in the bottom basket of your dishwasher. Of course you can hand wash everything in warm soapy water. The base can be wiped down with a damp cloth and dried.
This Oster did a good job on both smoothies and is a decent value at this affordable price. I hope you found this review helpful. Please subscribe for reviews of products you use every day before you buy. I’ll see you next time. Thanks for watching :)

have 2 favorite products purchased by amazon this year. This product is one of them, it is amazing. By far the best blender I have ever owned. It crushes Ice for my smoothie and it has a pulse button for when I want to shred foods not mush them, probably because It has a wider blender mouth and larger blade surface contact
It does not leak, and clean up is easy- add a drop of soap to hot water and run through as a blender then rinse.
I was using a bullet until I purchased this item.
I use it 3 times a day for food for a family member who has not teeth and 2 times a day for smoothies.
I hesitated buying this because many people said it leaked, but not if put together properly ( see photos below). I am so glad I bought this.

I've had my Osyer Pro 1200 2-3 years. It came with food processor accessories. Both the blender and food processor are durable and simple to use. As with any appliance it's good to always be mindful and pay attention when using one.
I read in the owner manual that when making something in the blender, that to firstly put in liquids, and then small soft items and lastly large pieces. Ice, if used , should be put in the blender last of all.

If I were to purchase the Oster 1200 Blender it would be to make smoothies mainly. I thought it did a good job and was moderately quiet compared to other blenders, a factor which is important to me.

This is a great blender! Unfortunately, I broke the jar for mine and the replacement jar is impossible to find. I am quite willing to pay - I didn't expect it would be covered by the warranty. All the available jars fit older models. I've been on the phone with the Oster retail partner closest to me, and they were rude and unhelpful. The person I contacted online advised me to call Oster customer service, customer service is just a message directing me back to the web site. My web contact simply stopped communicating with me when he couldn't help me. Worst customer service I've ever had anywhere! So...it works great, and as long as nothing goes wrong you are fine. If something goes wrong, you are on your own.

I didn't want to break anything, so I wasn't as tough as I could have been, but the bottom of my blender will NOT come off. @@bestkitchenreviews I cannot get the blender top off the 24 oz. smoothie cup !! Help !! What is the piece that kind of sticks out to the side like an arm ? I don't want to break anything by lifting that. Is that arm supposed to release pressure ? Thanks ! Okay, found the answer, was about to give up on it here's the answer - How do you unscrew a stuck blender?
You need to unplug the blender (so it won't run while you try and unscrew it). Screw the plastic bottle into the blade assembly (to the right), but not too tight. Then, push down firmly on the bottle, and twist the plastic bottle to the left. It should unhook from the base.

I am so glad I stumbled across your video because I'm looking for a better blender that will not leave little bits of apple skin in my smoothie and it didn't look like that happened with yours. I currently have a cheaper less powerful Oster blender but it leaves bits of apple skin in my smoothie which I don't like.

Pro tip, put your liquids in *after* the solids when making smoothies. Unless you're dealing with something that will stick to the bottom, you're going to benefit from a lack of splash-back.

I like thick smoothies that are not watered down so I don't put at liquids in. But I also don't put in anything too hard like ice.
Just fresh pinapple and other fruits and frozen blueberries. It should be able to handle those things easily especially atthsi price but it doesn't! This thing is a pice of garbage!!
I was so disappointed. 130 bucks and it can't even cut through frozen blueberries and fresh pinapple with me constantly having to open it up and mix it. I had to mix it at least 10 times!!!!! After 130 bucks!???? It should cut through rocks at that price!!
I used to have a Oster Blender that was half the price and it cut through twice as good. Smh.

    • @lacedindarkness
      @lacedindarkness 4 месяца назад

You’ll have to spend $500 and use plastic if you want to use a blender with bare frozen solid ingredients and without any liquid whatsoever. At the minimum you should be adding some water. This isn’t just me saying it, it’s common and universal knowledge pretty much applicable to all affordable blenders on the market.

  • @topherdean1024
    @topherdean1024 3 года назад +2

I think you should put the solids in first, fill liquid to just below the top of the solids. Blending a thicker smoothie will do a better job of chopping all ingredients. I like your very clear and precise manner of speaking.

I'd love to know how this blender works on a recipe with *all* frozen ingredients, as in, making banana nice cream or a smoothie bowl that you want to stay thick and frozen so one could eat it with a spoon as opposed to drinking it. I'm trying to avoid spending the money on a Blendtec or Vitamix but I know those are guaranteed powerhouses, esp. on frozen ingredients!

Hi Jennifer, I processed 2 cups of frozen strawberry chunks in the blender with 1/4 cup of water, pulsed a few times and used medium speed. After about a minute of processing, the consistency was smooth like a sorbet, but a bit thinner. That mixture could be frozen for a little while so it becomes more solid. You'll have to alternate between pulsing and using medium speed. Hope that helps :)

That jar is too small. It is not compatible.

I guess your comment is funny though not so much to me. I have to ask though, why do you comment the same thing so many times, in one video, let alone maybe more than one?

THE GLASS JAR IS WAY TOO HEAVY AND FILLED WITH ANYTHING WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO HANDLE. THESE NEW BLENDERS WITH GLASS ARE AWFUL. WITH ME IT WOULD BE BROKEN AND DROPPED WITHIN A FEW USES.

They sell the same blender with the plastic jar. Glass does not make it awful, just not right for you. I much prefer the glass jar myself, but it is a matter of preference.
