Kevin DeYoung | 2013 Basics Conference | Fairness or Grace

Each person is constantly interpreting their world through a grid, through a specific lens. Pastor Kevin DeYoung contrasts viewing life through the lens of fairness contra the glasses of grace. Taking us to the Parable of the Vineyard Laborers in Matthew 20, Kevin takes the three questions at the end of Jesus' famous parable to help expose how often the pastor's heart can give into viewing life through the lens of fairness rather than the glasses of grace.

When it comes to "fair" I keep it pretty simple, When my girls started yelling "not fair", I would tell them, "If life was fair you would get caught every time you did or said something wrong". We forget all the times no one saw or heard what we did. This is where grace lies, being grateful for all the times you didn't get what you "deserved".

I love this sermon because it depicts exactly how i see my present situation. I am christian man struggling with drug addiction. Some of my Christian family and brethren seem upset each time i relapse with a quick bounce back. I now realize that they believe i have no right to so much Grace.🤔
