You can find the book in stores and online. This is an absolute treat of a meal, a dish made on special occasions, simple yet stunning!
I made this last night. It is absolutely delicious. I used dried fenugreek. Worked well.
yeah
I was able to grow the fenugreek from seeds, it went pretty quickly, too, I could see the first leaves on the third day already.
wow that is quick
Can I use dried fenugreek leaves?
yes you can but not so much, 2 tbsp will be fine. Though the end result is great it tastes different with dried leaves, still delicious though!
Good recipe. Will try this but with smaller diced onions so they disappear into the sauce
yes sure
This is a nice and different way to make curried chicken. I must say that in my home (Trinidad) we season our chicken with salt, black pepper, ginger, geera, green seasoning ( garlic, onion, culantro, pimento, thyme, pudina) before making curried chicken.
sounds good
Always love your recipes! I think it would be helpful for some if the amounts of ingredients you add pop up onscreen. It would be most beneficial! 🙏🏽
I like fenugreek and coriander very much, and they have so many beneficial health properties
Love your channel...!!! :)
thanks Joseph
Made this curry last night! managed to buy the fenugreek online .
Absolutely delicious 😋 my partner said it’s the best one yet 👍❤️
I once made prawn briyani for Christmas and put the yogurt while the sauce was bubbling away. OMG the entire thing split! Thank goodness I hadn’t had the prawns in. I had to start from scratch with the sauce. I have now learned that I should turn off the heat totally. And I temper the yogurt mix with a few spoons full of the hot curried sauce, then I add it. What a stress and what a lesson 😅 Regards 🇿🇦🇦🇺
The best curry I've ever made in 55 years of cooking curries! I don't remember tasting a better one - maybe I did, decades ago, but I don't remember it. 👍
Wow thank you so much!
Absolutely LOVE your chicken curries, Chetna! And thank you for the spinach substitute for fresh fenugreek leaves; our stores only carry dried fenugreek and the seeds.
You are so welcome!
I just made this dish. I followed the recipe as written and it was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be making this again and again!
Saag chicken is my absolutely favorite!!
enjoy
Dont know where the heck I can find fresh fenugreek in Bangkok - but now the hunt is on. This looks amazing as do all of your dishes. Thanks for sharing, my mouth is watering. You are brilliant!
Use spinach instead
Very nice ... if l don’t have methi at times l use kasuri methi .. which also tastes nice 👍
Inshaa Allah I will try ❤️❤️😊
Sure 😊
You are such a great cook I love your videos they comfort me
Thank you so much!
You can use a grater to remove leaves from stems. Put the stem end through the grater and pull...makes it quick and easy. I am going to make this dish tonight.
This is my favourite curry , I add palak as well it is out of this world 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😋😋
Great 👍
Made this tonight, I only had a small amount of fresh fenugreek so I used some dried one to finish the dish. Loved the bright flavors!
Yum
I can, occasionally, get hold of fresh fenugreek. So am very much looking forward to trying this.
yeah
This curry looks really delicious. Can you use dried fenugreek leaves instead of the fresh (a smaller amount of course)?
yes you can, 2 tbsp
Vasant Kerai from London UK hi and Namaste 🙏 you can always add dry methi seeds powder and or kasuri methi why cooking, in restaurants they mostly use kasuri methi, Namaste 🙏.
👍🏼👍🏼
Can I make the FABULOUS sauce and freeze, then finish with the yogurt after defrosting?
should be fine
Why do you cut off the small piece of chicken thigh?
Also, what brand is your cook pot? It looks amazing ... could you share a link? Thanks.
Its from haufson
This looks simply awesome’
thanks Reeve
Just discovered your channel. I used to hate methi growing up because of the bitterness but now I quite like it, especially thepla. I'll try this one but substitute with a meat free alternative or tofu. Love the colours in your videos; so harmonious and pleasing to the eye, including your hair, bahut sundar hai.
Thanks Adrian
Look lovely! I have not really gone to look for fresh funegreek leafs, only the dried ones for butter chicken, I made during Diwali. Though am not Hindu, like to celebrate all festivities! Will try to find ithe fresh leafs at my Asian wet market. Oh, by the way, love all your plants in the kitchen. Very pretty!
Thats so lovely, yes you can use dried, 2 tbsp
Wow! Thanks dear Chetna for the beautifull recipe😋😘👍🏻
My pleasure 😊
I can’t wait to try this recipe Chetna. Never used fresh methi so this is going to be so good - I know it. Thank you so much 😍
God, indian cuisine is like an infinite well of flavors.
yes true
Hands down, the best curry I've ever cooked. Thanks Chetna
Wow thanks so much
I use frozen fenugreek/methi leaves from the Indian/Asian store when I can’t get good fresh ones. Works well!
yes it should
I did this recipe in a slow cooker, it was perfect! We did cook the onions in the skillet, however.
Very delicious.
I see other comments below, here in Ireland I've never seen fresh Fenugreek but I have Kasuri Methi, so a bit off that with some Spinach yeah?
Yes either is fine
Hi Chetna, I often use fenugreek seeds in my curries. Is the flavour much different when using fresh fenugreek?
Hi Chetna, as always a delicious 😋 recipe...
Thank you so much 🙂
That looks very yummy 😋 and I always find cooking our Indian food over gas stove turns out way better than over the electric elements
Beautiful recipe 😋🥰
Thank you so much
Fenugreek won't stand frost but is easy to grow in the warmer months.
yes but you can use spinach instead
Nice!!
Thanks!
This looks absolutely delicious! I need to give this a try. Thank you for sharing.
Also, I love your hair. It really suits you. Very pretty. 😊
Thanks
Saw fresh Methi in Asda today...... so had to make this with some turmeric rice...... very nice indeed, as so easy to follow. What one do you recommend I try next?
What a fabulous curry deffo going to make this the smell came through the screen but I only have dried fenugreek leaves so am sure I can get away with. Using those going to pop out now for chicken and. Yogurt thanks again Chetna xx
If I do not have fresh fenugreek but I have powder fenugreek, how can I use it? Please reply and thank you.
Hi, I'm trying this today. I will finish, eat and then comeback to you. Thanks anyway.
Hope you enjoy
Wow! Fennel, cumin, onions! Frying and aromatic. Perfect! And, what a beautiful kitchen! Wowtastic: fresh tomato, ginger and garlic zapped for a yummytastic puree! I'm lovin' it! Eat your heart out Micky D's! Haha! :)
Teaspoon of turmeric powder, teaspoon of chili powder and a teaspoon of coriander powder. Wow, Indian food is so sophisticated with so many complexities in the hidden flavours.
A blob of yoghurt to make it creamy, not good for me with milk intolerance but a dash of soya milk yogurt should do the trick.
Cooking low and slow. Could go in the Slow Cooker! If I had one!
Chicken thighs are not my fave and with bones even less desirable but they are cheaper and I'm guessing the bones bring out extra flavour and goodness. So, hey, you may have shown me a way to enjoy chicken thighs... Hum... would rather good old boring chicken breast though...
And, finally the chopped fenugreek / methi leaves, how beautiful!
I searched fenugreek because I put fenugreek seeds from a pack from the supermarket in the Asian section into a jam jar with boiling water, then soaked them overnight. They sprouted immediately! What a joy to have a seed that actually sprouts! I haven't decided on the best way to grow them on, but crossing fingers I will soon have a kitchen windowsill full of fresh fenugreek! Yay!
A greenhouse just for fenugreek is next on the agenda and I haven't even tasted the dish!
Can't believe you plonked that hot pan on top of your beautiful kitchen counter!
Finally, WOWTASTIC probably the most beautiful dish I have ever seen! Stunning! Full of rich complexities, utterly beautiful and LOVE the idea of trying one with spinach too!
Food is an art not a science. Chetna you are a very great artist, Picasso eat your heart out! And, a culinary genius!
Thank you!
Wondering if ground fenugreek would work as would be impossible to find in our little town?
Lovely 👌🏻 Greetings from Scotland 😊 Have a wonderful day everyone 🌻 Stay blessed ♥️
Have a nice day
I would do that in the crockpot! Looks delish!
enjoy

I have dried fenugreek leaves. I am cooking this recipe right now - I think I’ll use a couple of teaspoons of dried leaves 🤔. But obviously not sure if too much or not enough - wait and see.
I think I’ll make this with cod instead of chicken and also will add sliced fennel bulb as well.
yes absolutely
Yummy

Hi Chetna!
Thank you for sharing ..I have used quite a few of your receipies over the years and to date have stayed as family favourites!❤️
What yogurt would you recommend ( some fam allergic to diary and soya)
I usually go for coconut but at times affects flavour. Thank you.
You can skip it if you dint want to use coconut yogurt
Thank you for your reply ❤️
Will try without... But for future receipies...
I will look for other yogurts other than coconut ( which is my default yogurt to go) ummm 🤔 I only seem to find soya . Will keep trying. Have a lovely weekend 💫
Going to try this Chetna ! Looks delicious! Going try and get the fenugreek leaves tomorrow! I’m sure I will be able to get them as I live in Feltham which is a predominantly Indian suburb near London.

Hello Ms. Chetna, greetings from NYC 😁 Would love for you to collaborate with a Guyanese Indian in the UK who’s ancestry are from India during the indentured servitude in India to make a historical dish.
If I can't find fresh fenugreek how much dry fenugreek should I use?
just 2 tbsp
@@FoodwithChetna Thank you!
