@robsoncozendey Yes, it will. The gaia has a 64 tone polyphony, which means that it can play a lot more notes simultaneously than there are keys on the keyboard. You can connect a larger Keyboard and have the additional note range, that's what MIDI interfaces are for. AFAIK the gaia was designed specifically to take control signals from other sources, since it was also designed to be easily portable, so the37 note keyboard was built in to keep the outer dimensions to a bare minimum.
That's it...I'm getting one. Gotta have it now. Ordered mine today... my plaid, purple, polka dot shirt is in the mail... To hell with the keyboard...ah ah - justkiddn
@mattsynth Actually there are some Chorus effects under the Flanger effect settings. maybe Roland should have renamed the Flanger to Chorus/Flanger to prevent confusion.
Hello UJIIE-san, Thank you so much for all the great videos you make! They inspire me to dive deeper into the world of keyboards. I was wondering, could you make a video on the Roland SH-201? (: arigato
Easy, not trying to make waves, haha. I'd say "best" is subjective. I've used various Genelecs and they are pretty good. But they make everything sound good. I'd almost rather mix on NS-10s since they seem to accentuate the "ugly" in a mix, haha. No speaker is the best, I'd say it's more so the engineer knowing how his speakers translate to other systems that has the real impact. Of course, good speakers make that easier. haha
I get that, but I don't use my piano for anything but making trance melodies. I might be better off with a good program like FL Studio and a MIDI keyboard but I love this Gaia.
@maccagrabme well, the sound is somewhat compressed in those videos, the real thing sounds much better, I tested one of those at a guitar center just last week and it sounded awesome, very rich, thick and almost true analogue. True, its not a DSI Prophet or Alesis Andromeda, but the sound is still very impressive. It's predecessor the Sh201 is a very decent va synth, although the filters are not the greatest, but the GAIAs filters are simply stunning: as close as you can get to a true analogue.
@dudewhosaysarrh can you use the whole synth, all three engines and controls with a midi controller? i thought there were only some preset sounds for midi
Is it Good to make some Dubstep and Drum n bass? i want to buy a synth ... i made my music with fl studio and massive but a real instrument is just bether.. but i dont kow what is good for my sound gernre
Well, do an image search for recording studios. You'll likely see plenty of pictures that have the iconic white cones of Yamaha NS-10's. I'm not agreeing that yamaha makes the best speakers around, there are loads of great manufacturers. But OptimusKind is right, they aren't selling speakers. Or anything for that matter. And I run my Gaia and Yamaha Motif through my Yamaha HS80m speakers!
I need a synth that puts out some amazing trance/happy hardcore/dubstep sounds. Is this as close as I'll get to my dream? Everyone seems to play the same shitty music in their demo videos and I don't understand why.
Considering the fact he is speaking Japanese, I'm going to assume he is Japanese. Roland also happens to be a Japanese company, along with Yamaha and Korg.
Great price for all that power but NO CHORUS EFFECT. Roland makes the best chorus in the industry and did not put it on the Gaia. Maybe we will see it on the Super Gaia GT model in the future.
Uninspiring, generic, digital, flat, bland I was impressed with the FX section until someone pointed out there's no chorus Better to get a Nord Rack and 3 or 4 Roland FX units

Hello from California, USA.
Great demonstration, very helpful.

hi, how is it after 4 year of use ? i was thinked to get a minilogue Xd but this one sound better Oo
Arigatou!
very good demo! Thank you Katsunori Ujiie!!

@robsoncozendey it will to some extent, you cant use all of its engines but you will have your standard piano organ string type stuff
Great demo
2:55 Whoa, i will buy this synth solely for that Hammond organ
Lots of the patches sound close to what's on JP-8000, a good thing.
@heartkiller93 Good question, I haven't tried that yet, I just got the synth a couple of days ago, and have been creating patches mostly.
nice nice nice job Roland!

@bladerunner2125
I agree! They should've. Glad you posted this because I was looking for an answer :D Is it difficult to create a chorus effect?
i want this guy in my band
LOVED the demo...sort of meh on the synth....ah well.
I get that, but I don't use my piano for anything but making trance melodies. I might be better off with a good program like FL Studio and a MIDI keyboard but I love this Gaia.
Arigato. I'm sold.
An excellent demo. More music less jargon. Thanks.
@KnOdE11 well this wont do drums, but for dubstep basslines i think itd be great
@mattsynth Actually there are some Chorus effects under the Flanger effect settings.
chorus and flanger are the same effect with different range in parameters. With extreme ranges you'll have Phasing
no... I want this guy in MY band!
Nice saund
yeah i gotta admit certain sounds really are too "digital" but some are awesome too
I've heard Roland monitors. That's why I use Yamahas. On my Roland keyboards!
from 1:31 to 1:36! awesome guitar :D
2:14 sounds exactly like the wind noises in Zelda on the N64 when you're in Castle Town as Old Link!

If I plug a 88-key controller in this machine, it will be capable of playing all the 88 notes?
When is the rack coming out? Haha, that's all I want to know.
@rondutch23 there not selling speakers, and yamaha pretty much makes the best speakers around.
Considering the fact he is speaking Japanese, I'm going to assume he is Japanese. Roland also happens to be a Japanese company, along with Yamaha and Korg.
This Synth has a Piano Voice?? or we can creat?
valeu
@dudewhosaysarrh think you could tell me if you find out? haha i wanna buy it but i need some room to shred
0:56 goddes music
It just needs two things, an LCD and another octave.
Not even this guy can make it sound any better than a basic vsti plugin.
