@@N00dleBandit They didn't have a bass player for everything, though. There are plenty of recordings where Ray does the bass lines on his organ. But I prefer the tunes with a bass in them, you can't really get a bopping beat with the organ pedals.
@Luis Felipe There's a bass on the first album, at least some songs. Soul Kitchen has a really nice bouncy bass part. Back Door Man and Light My Fire have bass (Larry Knechtel, if I recall correctly).
4th of June and still in lockdown in Ireland due to corona virus and James James knocks out a Classic by the Doors. Life is Sweet. Thank you JJ 😃🙏😎☘️🎶🎶🎶🎉🎉 🎉
I know it comes natural to you JJ but I still think "how do you do it?" when you take a song off the shelf and nail it. Totally mind blowing. I've played guitar for 51 years. Before that I started on Clarinet at 11, playing by the book. In between I took up harmonica. I have my strengths and am happy and even satisfyied on occasion - but still " How in Hell can you do that!" Keep Rocking. I play as much or more as ever. Every door that opens is an adventure. I've also learned a ton on your channel (s). I went from an open G novice to using open G as a staple of my repertoire by your Keith songs. Great stuff man.
@@juana1483 If it were genetics, all of my brothers would have similar RUclips channels. Whatever musical skill I have, I wasn't born with it. I worked for it.
I've learned to play two of John Mayall's songs recently, and I did it in a matter of days. The songs are; looking back, and it hurts me too. I've learned both rhythm and solo parts. This after the fact that I started playing guitar again 3 months ago, after having had a 15 year break. Popular music is not really that difficult to perform, once you have mastered all the essential tecniques of your preferred instrument.
One of my favorite things on RUclips is your channel!! So many cool songs. Thanks for doing this ! Also love seeing all your awesome guitars and shirts too.
I was 13 had been playing trumpet for 6 years then I heard this. I put my trumpet down & took up the guitar I swear I must have worn out 3 albums of LA women just learning the song
recently got into the doors when i had to learn this song for a show. followed your playing here and what i heard from the record. saw the movie tonight with val kilmer. crazy movie but bad ass music
Only OGs remember his first channel! I discovered your first channel recently when I tried to learn For You Blue which you recorded 9 years ago wow! Anyway, I love your guitar playing and it has taught me a lot recently, only to see that you’d stopped PT, thankfully you continued on this one. Great job on LA woman
Okay JJ this is crazy. It would take me 20 hours of study and watching others play to figure this out. You did it on the fly!!! How is this possible? Keep up the great work - you are a legend in your own time!
Hey James I follow as much as possible your live playings and I enjoy very much all your songs choices, It's a very good starting point in learning to play the songs. Cheers Patrick
I never attempted this song before. Between your video and the Unknown Soldier dude's video, I managed to sit here and run through it a few times even using my fabulous Dunlop glass slide for the opening weirdness (!) and pretty much picked it up. I'm finally coming to grips with some solo guitar after all these years. Anyway, many thanks, this makes it so much clearer. Using my Telecaster via a Vox VX50 amp (AC30TB channel) and a Blues Driver pedal. Anyone tells you the BD-2 isn't a good pedal is A. an idiot and B. doesn't know the blues, or how to use that pedal to dial a blues sound IN. I had the gain up maybe at 1 p.m. on the pedal, maybe 8 p.m. on the amp, and I got a fantastic blues sound, mainly clean with a bit of boost on it. Which is what you want for Robby Krieger, isn't it? I guess a Fender amp would be fine, too.
You're so talented. I picked up a guitar about 3 years ago at 19. I've gotten pretty decent, but i hope to be a quarter as good as you! You just picked up the song immediately. I was practicing for about 15 minutes to just do the intro part! haha.
The best player ever!. I'm from brazil and i learn several musics because you play musics that haven't in everything chanels. You are the enciclopedia!. thank you for your teachings. Sorry for my english huehuehue
Not all humbuckers are created equal. Personally, I find the 490/498's to be too muddy. Burstbuckers are clearer, and Classic 57s are even better, in my opinion. Seymour Duncan 59s are my preference overall.
Great playing as always. It might be worth sharing that the song is written in the mode of A Mixylidian,(The key of D major, D E F# G A B C#). The Chords D & A are the 4 and 5 major chords that work in this key(G & A).
My buddy got tickets to see them down town. I was broke. I asked him the next day "How was it?" He said, "It got cancelled. They couldn't find Jim Morrison." It was discovered later that he was outside the concert hall up in a tree loaded on acid. Ah good times back then.
Hey James. First great playin' as always...been watching your vids for years...since the early PT days. Definitely one of the best players on you tube from a talent and humility standpoint...no ego, just a solid musician that plays because he loves to play and that's how it should be. Anyway, could you do a video of "Boys of Summer" by Don Henley? I personally am a big Mike Campbell fan, I just think he's a great player. I can't find any good tutorials on it and the one's I have seen are in the wrong key. I think it's in F# Maj...would love to see you do it if ya would. Also, greetings from Balto...not sure what your tie to Baltimore is, but love the Jim Palmer jersey. Thanks!
That was great man. You can't forget that great bass driving sound from Elvis's bass player Jerry Scheff who played on the whole L.A. Woman album .
Dang, so that bass tone isn't Ray M's keys? This album just totally changed for me. Not in a negative way, however.
@@FuzzyDancingBear In the studio, they had a session bass player. But live, Ray would play bass lines on key bass underneath his keyboard lines.
@@N00dleBandit They didn't have a bass player for everything, though. There are plenty of recordings where Ray does the bass lines on his organ. But I prefer the tunes with a bass in them, you can't really get a bopping beat with the organ pedals.

Robby Krieger's videos have been great during this lockdown
Was looking for a LA Woman cover that I like yesterday; couldn’t find one. One day later... a dmn miracle.
So bad-ass - especially on that sweet sounding guitar!
Man you played that great.
Damn man, I can't stop playing this song, but damn man, you nailed it brother...
Well, if Mr Krieger ever forgets how to play this tune, he can just pull up your video and he'll be back in the thick of it! Great job!

Marc Benno (who had recently been in a band with Leon Russell ) played rhythm on about half the tracks, including this one.
Well! That was just fricken awesome bro!!
