    You havent experienced Boingo til youve seen them in concert. I was lucky enough to see them over 15 times in the 80's & 90's and would do it all over again. Danny Elfman is amazing. I think he is incredible in Nightmare Before Christmas but know ALOT of people including myself who would love to see them live just one more time!!!

      I saw them live in the late 80's. I was up against the front of the stage getting crushed by the crowd, but the show was great!

    I was assigned The Island of Dr. Moreau in a Victorian Lit class in college, and the professor - an old fashioned guy constantly delighted with the presence of a computer terminal - went back and forth on whether or not to play this song in class, ultimately just urging us to seek it out at home. I'm glad he did, this song and the others he mentioned (certain tracks on Devo's Are We Not Men? album) are fucking amazing.

      @@Estrella3 My favourite band of all time is Zeppelin, and I have had a few teachers that liked Zeppelin too. My Grade 10 Geography teacher loved them big time. Happens, pretty nice to have actually.

      It sounds to me like it’s based on the Talmud, or at least the extremist Chabad Lubavitch interpretation.

    Yes, yes, Elfman still sings...sometimes, but only in the context of movies. No more crazy punk/ska/rhythmic insanity. No more top-and-bottom-of-his-range crooning, no more scat, no more angry screaming and vocal noises from another dimension. He's made significant contributions to cinema, and we're all glad for that. But I, for one, feel a little deprived that I don't get to see one of the most important rock *vocalists* of the 70s & 80s mature as an artist. /whine

    The song is based off the novel "Isle of Dr. Moreau.
    @therealdude100 one of thier most popular songs is Dead Mans party, although Who do you want to be and nothing bad ever happens to me are underrated as both are very good songs.
    I remember growing up with this band.

    One of the Most Underrated, musical Geniuses of our TIME ever----

    Hopefully :0)

      You have to be underrated to BE underrated and Danny Elfman is well respected by fans and critics in music, film and television, not to mention he has been nominated for a number of awards (Grammys, Golden Globes and Academy Awards). Arguably Oingo Boingo is underrated, but Danny, the musical genius behind Oingo Boingo, certainly is not.
      Also, I mean, no New Wave band (although Boingo is usually closer to ska and New Wave is a meaningless term that applies to punk, ska, pop, rock, techno and pretty much every other genre the '80s had) is terribly well received nowadays, nor are ska bands. Most are known for one (often cheesy) song and most people do not even know what ska is.

    he diddent quit singing, he quit singing live. He did the singing voices for the oompa loompas in charlie and the chocolate factory and voiced/sang for bonejangles in the corpse bride.

    That may be the case. I've noticed that too. In the Farewell concert he sounds particularly low. And yes, I am. Don't want to write my screen name here, but I'm the one currently organizing a group fan mail book for him. I'm going to have it printed in a few days. If you'd like to sign on and contribute, there's still a little time. Trying to get as many girls as possible. :)

      @@Estrella3 It is not a sample from the Best O' Boingo album, or any other Oingo Boingo album. It's like a calling card of whoever is uploading this (presumably Paul Allen as in paulallen360). Vaguely appropriate for the time period, as it is all pretty '80s. It is also at the end of other videos he has uploaded that have nothing to do with Danny or the Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo.

  • @dresdenvisage
    @dresdenvisage 13 лет назад

    @CenyddRos Well, have you maybe listened to "Remains of the Day" from Corpse Bride or "The Little Things" from Wanted? He's the voice of the Oompa Loompas in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - all of those were after Boingo quit. Not to mention his unmade musical movies Little Demons and The World of Jimmy Callicut -- though I can't find the dates for these I could be wrong. And even if he doesn't sing often his scores are never disappointing.

    I'm on the forum too, but haven't posted in your thread yet. Not that I have a problem with fan letters, but I'm in my 40s... it seems a little weird. But I kinda want to anyway...argh! I see that you extended the deadline, so I'll decide by tonight. Funny that we both decided to use different screen names there. :-D

  • @paizlea
    @paizlea 12 лет назад +1

    I have suspected for some time that one of the reasons he stopped singing is because he lost his upper register. I was just listening to Dark At the End of the Tunnel, and was just struck at how much lower he was singing. Not that low is bad per se, but he'd always had such a huge range... oh, well. No matter the reason, the fact remains he's not singing like he used to. :-( Btw, are you on the Danny Elfman Fangirls forum?

  • @dresdenvisage
    @dresdenvisage 12 лет назад +1

    It's funny you should say this now. I'm getting ready to send him a fan letter (which I've never done for anyone before) and in it I wrote how much I love his voice and wish he would record an album. I know his hearing loss prevents him from performing on stage again, but can't he perform in studio? I doubt I'm going to change his mind, but I want to know why he doesn't want to. I guess it just doesn't interest him any more. And that is a tragedy.

    I thought 4 times about posting this, but thought it was better for you to know than not know. I love your content, but have not subscribed because of the "nails on the chalk board" "100 jigawats" tag you have at the end of each of your posts.
