In this week's edition of "What's Neat in Model Railroading," we are excited to showcase a collection of photographs and a video highlighting the impressive Union Pacific Big Boy Locomotive #4014's recent visit to the St. Louis region. We are honored to feature special guest and esteemed author Mike Kelly, who will discuss his extensive portfolio of prototype railroad publications from the last decade. Additionally, James Regier will present his innovative 3-D printed combine harvesters, meticulously arranged on flat cars. Enthusiasts Mike Budde and Joshua will contribute their personal experiences with the Big Boy locomotive through captivating video content. Join us for an engaging 50-minute journey into the heart of model railroading this week.
Thank you for sharing my footage and photos as well as the kind words. Regards, -Scott
Hi Ken & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Ken Friends Randy
Thanks for showing off my logo!
A cool mention of the Gateway Western! I grew up in Glasgow, MO and saw the Gateway Western yard in Slater, MO quite often. I always thought as a kid that the black and gold colors were because our school was black gold!
We went to the green way in Jefferson Barracks, to see 4014. As looking north all the kiddos from Notre Dame school were out there trackside cheering very loudly. What a great experience.
What an outstanding show! It was nice to see Mike Kelly again! I'm going to buy his book "Rails Around Southern Illinois" I was born & raised in Belleville, Illinois. I get a kick when Mike Budde brings to the roundtable! Jelsma Graphics "A Stitch Above The Rest" This is "The Best Hobby In The World" Till Next Time! MoPac Jack The Book Is Going To Be For My 70th Birthday On October 26! Rock N' Roll Forever..
So epic! Ive only ever seen the static display bigboy at steamtown. Another great show as usual!
Love your train running Union Pacific U50 units! So happy to see UP locomotives leading a great train
!
What a great adventure! And the models on table... awesome! Love the fade effect MIke done on his trailers. Keep the fun coming guys!
Chicken coop looks like the Tent ,cabins, at Amp Komfort in lampoon vacation.
This makes me want to go out and buy a few! lol
Fellows just think what the UP had to do prior to its run from Wyoming to Chicago and then to St Louis before heading back to Wyoming! The logistics of this is overwhelming! No can not say that the UP really doesn’t help the hobby of Model Railroading! Love the UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD!!!!!!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Mike puts out awesome books. Have a couple of them. Was looking forward to another book about the Railroads in Indiana. Guess I will have to wait. LOL Another great show.
What a show!
Nice Show Guys
I live in Harrisburg Illinois. The Egyptian line was started by the Big Four. Then it went to NYC, PC, Conrail, and eventually was sold to NS who deactivated it in the 80s. It had been turned into a trail now and runs along hwy 45 in Harrisburg. Where the Hardee's sits now is where the passenger depot was in Harrisburg, it was demolished in the 70s, passenger service ended in the 60s.
I still remember the first time I saw the 4449 in 1976 fly by in real life shaking the ground and I innards ❤😅
The rails around guy. That’s the first train store
I ever went in with my dad back in 90s. G scale train above and the ones in display cases close at ground level.
I got to ride on the train behind BigBoy4014 from West Colton yard to Barstow back in Oct 12 2019. I'm from New Zealand.
I was at the diamond between the Jonesboro and Memphis subdivisions at Fair Oaks, Arkansas on Saturday 9/14/24. When the BIG BOY crossed the diamond, it felt like an earthquake for a few moments.
Wish someone would make a sp cab forward in g scale that would be great
A Cryogenic Liquid Tank Car is designed to transport Cryogenic liquid materials belonging to all divisions of hazard class 2. DOT Division 2.1 is Flammable Gas, Division 2.2 is Non-Flammable, non=toxic gas (under pressure, inert) and Division 2.3 is for Toxic Gas.
Cryogenic tank cars are referred to as “tank-within-a-tank. They consist of an inner tank constructed of stainless steel contained within an outer steel tank (not a jacket). The space between the tanks has a vacuum drawn, with the inner tank insulated with an alternating wrap of multiple layers of aluminum foil and paper. Older cars used perlite. The cars are referred to as Thermos bottle cars. They may have a design service temperature of as low as minus 423 degrees F.
Information on contemporary tank cars can be found in the AAR’s Field Guide to Tank Cars-4th Edition, available online.
This is your tank car lesson for today.
Someone rearranged the words on the front of the desk to read "Week What's This Neat".
I look for this consciously every time! It’s like a rare treat lol.
@@andrewlaverghetta715 Yes, ever since this happened a while ago, I have been looking for this .
We have a winner!
Chess Set coming soon!
I’m looking for a book 📕 with scale drawings of rolling stock
I wonder if the dated fonts Michael C Kelly is using for his upcoming books are chosen on purpose, to make the link to the previous century, or he just choose them because he liked it. Personally, I don't think it is the right choice, as they give the impression of being second hand books. With all respect, just trying to help.
Why are they running a diesel loco behind the big boy ? Extra power or in case of a problem?
Backup power in emergencies, extra brakes, and range extension for the Big Boy. If the diesel is helping to pull the train, then the Big Boy can expend less fuel and water.
