I just noticed that the locomotive (the first train car where there are the controls) was attached backwards.
Look closely, the cabin area is at the back.
That locomotive was some kind EMD SD-40 or SD-40 2.

There were no illusions but a simple logic...The end of left line was in contact with the main line while the right one(on which the boy was standing) was disconnected,which means the train would go left. It might look like an illusion but it was not!
