Amazing. My definition of so cold is 10 degrees celsius. Please note that there is no minus sign in front of that. Amazing. The kind of locations you go to and the weather you deal with.
Haha.. We are all wired differently I think. I kind of enjoy the cold, but it is always a bit of a struggle in the evenings when the sun goes down and I have to cook in the cold. Whether it is a car or a tent the experience is quite the same in the evenings. Nights are mostly comfy though once I get inside the sleeping bag.
I can feel the cold and uneasiness that you are experiencing in surviving and shooting on top of it. I went to Spiti this winter and experienced the -20C temperature, it was bone-chilling. Your video reminded me of that again. I have been following your work for a long time and inspired by it. Please keep up the good work!!

I Appreciate your reply. I would to invite you to Al Ula city and be my guest. It is a tourist destination so you can do a good coverage for this area.
That's a 15 year old sleeping bag. I use it mostly for the summers and when sleeping indoors during winter. I have a different sleeping bag (NorthFace Inferno -30C) for Winter Camping.
hats off to your efforts sir 🙌🏻 in 2021 I went to kedarkantha and it was around -15 there and wasn't able to shoot ! I know how difficult it must be for you to shoot and cook in -30😰! Love the rawness and style of your videos sir 🙌🏻
To be honest.. -30C was just the forecast. I have no idea what the temperature would have been. Also the inside of the car is actually pretty warm once I close the doors (and leave a 1cm gap in one of the windows for ventilation). So the night inside the car would have been about -10C. I was using my autumn -18C sleeping bag in the car during this winter. I had another -30C sleeping bag with me, but I used it only when camping outdoors. It was not necessary at all in the car.
Pls consider using some sort of fireproof barrier on the walls of your car as well if you continue to cook inside the car. You can see in the video itself that the sides of the flame lick the seatbelt area as well as the inner walls. Some of them are made of material that will easily melt and deform even with just a little bit of heat. A simple barrier made of something like aluminium foil backed by cardboard would both stop that, and assist you with heat reflection as well. Please take care of yourelf!
Haha.. the controlled part comes later once the stove got hot. The initial burst of yellow flame comes when I'am priming the stove and it lasts about a minute or two and then the blue flame takes over. You would have noticed the blue flame when I put the water on the stove.
Na.. getting inside is fine. It is not much trouble. But I hate getting out of the sleeping bag at night to go pee.. or in this case (at the end the video) to take some photos of the night sky. You need a lot of will power to get out when you are nice and toasty inside.
Haha.. the Ecosport did well on this trip. Gave me no troubles at all. But I plan to get the Jimny this summer and that will enable me to explore even tougher locations with more confidence.
@@explorer.samrat Yeah and the most important thing. It is a petrol 4x4, so no problems during winter and hopefully it will be more fuel efficient than the petrol Thar. Im expecting almost 50 to 100% better mileage.

Hello 👋 Do you ever wish to explore the world beyond the Himalayas, other beautiful destinations around the world like beaches, waterfall or rainforests? Or do you plan on settling in the Himalayas for the rest of your life?
Please take care of you man. Life is very precious. Make sure you have all the gears with you and have adequate knowledge about how to survive when travelling in extreme weather.
Changed your beautiful red Soulo for a car . Il hope i will place my Red Soulo also in Zanskar for Snow Leopard searching like one near Kanchenjunga ….. also only scat found … even no sounds .
You know it is really cold if even Saravana is struggling with the cold. By the way I'm curious about that small cylinder that you use for cooking. How come it is so safe even with that flame so close to the cylinder?
As long as the cylinder does not leak fuel it is very safe. Obviously the cylinder cannot touch the flame, but a inch or 2 gap between the cylinder and the flame is totally fine. I have been using this stove for almost 15 years now.
Just a safety warning. You do know your fuel tank/fuel pump is under there. I know guys with old diesel lorries would burn a fire under the fuel tank to the diesel would melt. But remember diesel is slow burning. Petrol if the heat picks up it will spark without a flame. It is high combustion.
I don't know, I use my butane stove in the SUV but the flame is smaller, maybe a metal wind screen would be good? I just found this channel and it's so good! I love it!
Chennai is actually much better in the summers. It is bloody hot during the day but we get sea breeze in the late afternoons/evenings which is very pleasant and cool.

How do you manage the car engine and batteries? Don’t they freeze? Even the petrol… I assume if you keep the Car switch off over night, your batteries, Eng. oil, coolant and petrol gets freezed, don’t they?
Kudos to you! By the way, do you use kerosene or petrol in your MSR stove? Back in the 1990s when I used the XGK expedition model from MSR I found that using petrol made firing up the stove much easier; also the kerosene available in those days in the hill towns of India used to have lots of fine particles which could easily clog up the fuel line of the very sensitive MSR stove! I can only imagine how cold the night was for you... in 2019 I once slept in my Nissan Xterra parked near a frozen lake here in British Columbia and it was only minus 6 deg Celsius so I was very comfortable in my 25 year old Mountain Equipment down sleeping bag! I look forward to your new video as always..... Take care and be safe!
You are right about Kerosene. It is a bit safer to use but it burns dirty and clogs up the stove. So I have switched to petrol now and have been happy with it for the last 12 years or so.
