Hey Pastra! Just letting you know, the link for the Makeship doesn't seem to be working! It gives a 404 error. However, it does show up if you search Pastra from the home page!
Imagining Pastra as a sleep paralysis demon but instead of scaring victims he just talks about horror games at the foot of their bed while the png runs through its spooky little cycles
I’d be chill with that, much better than my sleep paralysis demon that seems to be a giant clumsy moron. Seriously, for some reason I got the sleep paralysis demon that falls over itself.
...Yes... actually, yeah, that's EXACTLY what it was like, right down to (if you believe Micheal Afton was the FNAF 3 security guard) him being the protagonist's dad.
At the very least about the point of "we already know the twist" is that the way you narrate it with so much drama and grandious that it legit feels like I'm getting the twist revealed to me again. This series of videos so far, at least for me is basically a way to look back on games I may have never played but enjoyed the lore of in my childhood. So thank you for doing that it honestly means a lot.
Very agreed. I didn't really get into the Fnaf fandom until after Security Breach so it's so nice getting to hear the story as it was experienced back when the games were coming out
I mean I probably could make my self forget everything and experience it all for the first time all over again and yes the way Pastra described it felt like what you said!👁️👁️🗨️✨👍
I love the idea of michael afton sitting in the office, trying desperately to keep his springlocked and angry dad at bay, glancing to the side to see phantom foxy ready to pounce, and just slowly turning away like "I saw nothing..."
I'm still bugled by the fact that within a day of the game's release some maniac saw the numbers in one of the cutscenes, looked at the panels on the wall that had NO indication that you could click on them & thought "Huh, wonder what would happen if I typed those numbers into these"
To be fair, I would assume the panels were probably discovered by someone franticly clicking everything in the office in search of the obligitory Freddy Nose Honk! 😂 But hey... That's just a theory.
As someone who got to experience that hype and the reveal, it was so SATISFYING seeing the purple guy get defeated by his own tool. And Scott's animation of him running away and the moment the suit breaks are so well animated.
Tbh I think Springtraps jumpscare not being as intense as the other animatronics makes sense since he's more human so of course he's not gonna run at us and chomp at our face trying to bite our head off
I still don't get why people don't like this jumpscare as a whole, even after all these years. You would think that people would understand its purpose.
51:59 alas, that’s the fate of every great plot twist. imagine how it felt to read The Curious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde without knowing the twist that is now synonymous with the title.
to be fair the twist is in a way preserved because the NATURE of Mr Hyde and how he works in relation to dr jekyll has actually been CHANGED thanks to popular media. anyone reading the story nowadays will be surprised to learn just how much of a willing figure in the case Jekyll was
36:21 i really like how Springtrap ignoring the audio lure sometimes works from a lore perspective. Bc in this game we're not fending off a robot, we're fending off a PERSON, and him ignoring the lure can be seen as *William* going "FUCK OFF WITH THAT STUPID NOISE ALREADY"
Thats really funny,he is probably already pissed off at us because it’s the programming in his suit and not him, so hearing that stupid sound ticks off more and more each time (and the one time suit programm fails he bucks it!).
@The_Friendly_Nightmare_Cedric Not only does he get more ticked at it.. He also goes into a rage frenzy in FNAF 6 where he immediately kills you if you turn on the audio lure music.
It'd make sense, even more so in-context of his suit: When the lure works? It's likely Spring Bonnie, not Afton, is trying to find a children's party. It wants to perform, to do it's schtick as a happy bunny. When the lure gets ignored? That's Afton managing to rip control back, and he's getting fussy with this game of cat-and-mouse.
I still remember seeing the thumbnail and watching that first video and thinking, "man, this guy has some seriously good stuff on his hands, I wonder what else there is" and there was like 2 more videos. Felt so weird being so early to a good channel
Yeah I also showed up to his channel really early on, I haven't really processed yet that it's been 5 years since this channel started but being there for a small channel growing isn't something I get to see often, being their as Lankmann took over pastra's channel for a bit, and getting to see DOAI episodes as they were coming out was really fun, I've even got a Clyde plush on my bed right now as I'm writing this (it's the og makeship one), watching this channel grow for the past 5 years has been incredible, can't wait to see what's next. (Final note I've lived through like, 4 different variations of Clyde now (6 or more if you count the seasonal variants like zombie Clyde or Clyde the killer))
Also, that Clyde redesign is SO good! I was not expecting it at all for this, so to see a glowup in Clyde's design was a completely unexpected surprise, but definitely a damn good and welcomed one!
I think that the springlock suits might be genuinely one of the most terrifying suits/animatronics ever and that’s mainly due to the springlock failure. Because as revealed in the silver eyes trilogy… a springlock failure is not a quite death, you will feel every single piece of metal rip into you as you slowly drown in your own blood and even if you are one of the lucky few to be saved in time, you will get scars and mostly likely permanent damage everywhere.
@Fanboy-i5z probably more like “I’m going to say that mine is probably cheaper to make and we already have them… in reality I hate you, I hate your company, it will be mine soon and oh perish”
52:50 that’s my only regret, is that I’ll never experience this series for the first time again, it was a good time theorizing with everyone trying to understand the story
Is he like even there at all though? I swear to god ive never seen him on the cameras, except for the vents obviously. Ive paused lets plays and combed through each camera and never seen the fucker, god when i played it once thanks to a friend it feels like he pretty much just toggles invisibility till he gets to the window.
@StarsideScav he blends in cause both he and the environment are both green. He hides in darkness and will sometimes only have part of his body on camera (for example in one of his posrs his arm is visible on the left side of the camera, but only barely, and the rest of his body is off-camera entirely. The static being so thick doesn't help.
Watching this video reminded me of why I subscribed to this channel in the first place. It wasn’t the high quality videos, or ARGs like Dreams of an Insomniac, or even fnaf itself. It was the passion that was in the first fnaf 3 video. During a time when everyone was being super critical of security breach and the fnaf series in general, along came pastra just talking about a game he loved, and it reminded me of why I fell in love with the series in the first place. It was so much fun watching that same passion be extended to other fnaf games, then other horror media, then to media outside of horror like the sonic CD video. And then, it all culminated into what is still my favorite project from this channel, the (what I think is?) first ARG. Not DoAI, but the one sprinkled into videos that told the story of an artist coming to terms with the fact that it was ok that his original idea for a project changed into something completely different (at least that’s how I interpreted it). It’s been great watching you grow these past five years Pastra, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for both this channel, and you.
53:34 Pastra the way you described the children's emotions as William Afton was dismantling the animatronics was very heart-wrenching. I think we as the community really forget that this series is about the murders of children, lives that were cut short before they even began and now these children roam these restaurants as scared and hurt Souls that weren't protected by those that were meant to do that. These children have become jaded in their opinion on adults, every single time a new location opens up, these kids see every adult as a failure who won't do what is necessary to protect others like them. I really hope you touch on this more when you finally get to FNAF 6 because it is so important that I hear what you have to say about Henry's message.
I gotta see that part still but I agree wholeheartedly, Scott really cared about showing how these kids felt, the distortion of "happy" games, using souls as if they were gifts, all of this boils down to broken innocence. Which is why I love FNAF 6 even if many don't like it. I love the ending it gave to the series at the time.
@brunopagnoncelli975 I love Fnaf 6 too, Henry speaking to Charlie/Charlotte when she's in the puppet is so tear jerking, everytime I hear it I want to cry. Scott did a great job keeping these deaths respectful, we don't know how William killed them and we never see graphic depictions of their corpses which I appreciate, the only truly gory thing is Springtrap and that's valid, we see the one responsible for all of this suffering, it's poetic that he is the only true corpse we see.
Yes Pastra did a pretty good summary of the kids emotions in that moment, all that anger they felt in that moment was gone (except for Cassedy💛🖤), also yes I am interested in what Pastra think of that final Monolog in FNAF 6 (Henry‘s „big“ moment).👁️🗨️👁️ ✨
Dude the writing style of these videos is MIRACULOUS. I honestly forgot the feeling of the fandom in the early days. So many lore videos talk about everything as a whole but this video structure and delivery has actually captured the giddy, inquisitive feeling of BEING THERE while it was all unfolding. Thank you for this, I missed that part of my young self
Always loved that Springtrap's jumpscare, specifically the left one, is kinda "meh": It's a perfect fit to WHO the man is. This is all a sadistic game to Afton, you're not being hunted but toyed with, and him finally jumping you? Look at him: His eyes open, his ever-present grin almost seems to grow wider, and you can practically hear him gleefully screaming "GAME OVER!". This isn't an enraged child or machine, lashing out at you, semi-blindly... *This is a monster, letting you squirm, and making himself very known the whole while.*
His jumpscares always put me off more than the previous games. The way he's just like "Ha, I found you." is so unnerving, like he's giving us one last "chance" to escape. It gives the impression of genuinely unimaginable torture happening after the screen goes black
I feel like William afton has become one of the most popular and influential villains not just in horror games but in video games in general. To this day, the *purple guy* gets memed around the internet, discussed and talked about to this day and has reached that level of stardom that even if you don‘t have any knowledge of fnaf, you at least have a good idea of who afton is and what he does.
Handsome Jack, Glados, Vaas. There are a ton of famous videogame villains, but Afton has the merit of sharing a place in that hall of fame with but a few voice lines.
@S@SNoodleJuJuenator Armstrong, Albert Wesker, The culprit of persona 4, the mastermind of danganronpa, Dio, Griffith, Makima, Sukuna, Reverse Flash and Bill cipher would like to differ
@bahesb2419 Yeah, Armstrong is fucking HORRIFYING. I was just saying Springtrap is ONE amongst the rare breed that can be memed on AND be a respectable character
@LK-1D3 Citizen Kane. The context is that in the opening of the movie, a man dies alone in a fire and his last words are "rosebud". So the rest of the film progresses and you're left wondering what the old man meant, until the last shot of the film that shows a sled burning in a fire. What are the words you see on the sled? "Rosebud". Without knowing the context of the plot, this moment wouldn't hit nearly as hard because it's a very powerful, emotional ending of the film, complete with the twist on what "rosebud" is and why those are his last words. Citizen Kane is widely regarded to be on the best films ever made and is the trope namer for "It Was His Sled"; a plot twist that everyone knows in some way. It either be those who are invested in the media because the plot twist is acknowledged in later entries (like Darth Vader and Springtrap) or those who are not familiar with the source materiel because it has been parodied and spoofed in other forms of media.
@GBAura Thanks for the detailed explanation. I've heard of Citizen Kane but wasn't fully aware of it's cultural impact. Maybe I'll try and watch it at some point
@LK-1D3 You should. It's a very important and monumental film of the time, up there with King Kong. Honestly, I haven't seen either film. I should, lol.
I wanted to say this on the original post when this all started but this whole series of videos that were and have yet to be made feels like that one scene from Ratatouille where Aton gets a nostalgic flashback to his childhood after eating the ratatouille. These past few FNAF videos have really felt almost exactly like that, just a moment to go back to the good times to some of the best moments for probably a lot our childhoods and look forward to seeing the rest of the games in a full retrospective.
I'm loving this series so much. It's really reminding me why I fell in love with this series in the first place, over a decade ago at this point. The way you keep going back into the mindset of the fandom at the time, the theory crafting, the hype, the adoration, I can hear that same love for the series in your voice that I often get when rambling about it to people.
I've never heard the ambience played in sequence but you're so right. 1 and 2 evoke "oooo, spooky building" but FNAF 3's is straight up "It's in there with you and it wants you *dead* "
The FNAF 3 cameras are easily the best ones. They're not that important in the first games aside from stalling Foxy and Freddy and winding the music box, but in 3 they're the *only* mechanic the player has to defend themselves. No doors, no mask, it's _just_ the cameras. Suddenly not only getting a chance to really explore the look of the building you're in, but actively being *forced* to in order to win, is a great step up from the previous installments.
27:30 And in that is the Phantoms' real scare factor- how they break your gameplay loop so you immediately get stressed out trying to fix all the systems and find Springtrap again to recover gameplay loop as fast as possible before Springtrap gets too close having broken out of the ideal strategy. It's the terror of sudden chaos that you need to get back under control in order to save the round.
FNAF 3 was my first true exposure to the franchise. I clearly remember the rainy morning I spent in my elementary school's lobby waiting for class to start and seeing a boy playing the mobile port with an audience of classmates peeking over his shoulders. When curiosity got me to look, Springtrap jumpscared us. I had nightmares for months afterwards but I was hooked. So I resonate very heavily with Pastra's thoughts on this game.
Hey, even now, that lore dump that purple guy/ william afton was the one in springtrap chilled me to the core and it still does. Srpingtrapnis by far the scariest animatronic in Scott's frightful world
I really *want* to agree with this, but I really can't, because there's a scene in this franchise that still sends chills down my spine, no matter how many times I watch it: "Connection terminated."
Aww Pastra…hearing about how you got into digital drawing and making your first video…it’s so sweet. This community has started so many people’s interests and careers. So crazy to think about. Much love to you friend
oh my god that ending is hilarious also, as someone who not only has watched that original fnaf video when it came out but has gone back and re-watched it, your style is wonderful and i hope you keep making videos
i think pastra bringing up all these shocking reveals made me realize i think what were missing in modern fnaf is that same apparent excitement you can follow the lore but massive game and lore changing reveals were front and center stage so it kept players hooked and guessing that in addition to the hype of teasers id what i think truly made fnaf so iconic and exciting
Pastra, I fricking love your channel so much. I am very happy that you decided to do youtube, and I feel very warm listening to you talk about how much Fnaf 3 inspired you to do this, I have been inspired by you both to try youtube, and do more drawings. I just genuinely really look up to you, so thank you for being such an amazing person and youtuber!!!!
35:00 Fun fact: both FNAF 1 and FNAF 2 also use that "danger ambience" mechanic! FNAF 2's ambience, the iconic distant sirens, kicks in once someone is in the main hallway or vents. FNAF 1's ambience is actually the very sound byte you played in the first ambience comparison. That swirly ethereal sound is completely absent at the start of a night, then gets louder as more animatronics enter the dining area, then the hallways
27:54 i love the phantoms so SO much they fit so well into the environment and I love how they make you flinch every time you see them. i love how well they blend in because it constantly makes you question whether you actually saw them or not which is such a good way of putting you in the shoes of Micheal seeing all these hallucinations and wondering whether what you're seeing is really real.
Honestly, I am happy for you man, congratulations for all the things you have done and for reaching a point where you feel content, that is something that deserves to be celebrated, I hope that is something it last for years to come and hearing how passionate you are about this game in particular, it really is emotional. You are doing great, keep it up. Also that bit at the end was so sudden I had to rewind it to process it, LMAO.
The new Pastra design is peak. Also I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks FNaF 3's gameplay is better than FNaF 2's. Happy 5th Year Anniversary!!1! 🎉
Watching Pastra talk so passionately about fnaf 3 and it’s effect on the channel on it’s release date and moreover my birthday is such a treat Much love Pastra, from the bottom of my heart thank you for everything!
Such a sincere/passionate celebration, jolly good anniversary, keep preaching for the love of it! Also, your new design looks cool, I like the spiked coller.
Honestly props for subtly changing the Phantom Puppet's hallway cam without saying anything until the very end. It was an unmatched feeling being like "Wait... The Phantom Puppet's cam explicitly shows it's normal version, they deliberately changed that" Honestly I'd love a video essay where it sounds like someone is just going over the basics of something they like, but as you go through things are subtly different and edited. It'd be really easy to put a comedic or horror twist on that.
it isn't the same, but your description reminded me of midnight krick's alternate universe pokemon iceberg video. I reccommend it if you're into creepypasta type stuff
This is what art is meant to do- inspire the creative spark in others, to make them want to create and share it. Happy Anniversary, Pastra, here's to many more!
I remember being so scared of spring trap as a kid and only figuring it out now that I'm older. Other animatronics, thought inhabited by human spirits, felt more like animals, on the other hand, spring trap feels like an actual human being with the way he preys on the player and there is nothing scarier than a human
Something I find interesting is how future horror games, that were inspired by fnaf, managed to recreate the character of afton into their stories but do it in a way that they all feel like fleshed out versions of William, while still standing out as their own characters. Two good examples of these are Joey drew from bendy and Harley sawyer from poppy playtime. Joey drew (Bendy): Joey drew was the ceo of ink studio that created the ink machine in hopes of making a success. When it ultimately failed, he blamed it all on his business partner Henry stein and out of bitterness, created a entire ink world to torture his own version of Henry forever, to project his anger and frustration on him. Now one may expect Joey to be a irredimable monster like afton was and while everything that happened in the story can all be traced to him, dark revival showed a suprising side to Joey’s character. That before the events of the first game, Joey actually found someone that managed to bring out the best of him, to realize all the mistakes he has done and trying to make amends. Even easing his Henry’s suffering by giving him a Angel of his own to aid him. Joey has the exact same role and status in his story as William had but instead staying a pure evil monster, he actually matured and redeemed himself, setting him more apart from the rabbit cosplaying seriel killer that came before him. Harley sawyer/ the doctor (Poppy playtime): Harley sawyer, also known as the doctor, is the mind behind the bigger body project, the one who we have to thank for playtime co experimenting on children and turning them into monsters. He‘s your classic scientist villain who will use anyone, even children, as means to further his research and experiments. In any other story, he‘d be the main villain like William was. But instead of being a retelling of afton’s story, he‘s instead a deconstruction: While his coworkers distrusted and disliked sawyer for his nature, they knew he was too important for the project to get rid of. so they decided to turn the doctor into a brain in a jar, reducing him into a source of answers for playtime co. Harvey was turned from puppeteer to another puppet, that now has to serve the puppets he has created.
I remember my take on the toy animatronic box was that I thought Springtrap had all the toy animatronics in the back, badly damaged of course. And he would assemble them over the course of the night, adding new threats in real time.
Real time threats/events would be so cool. The faulty wiring (mentioned twice and it's why the building burns down) could have been so cool if you could experience a blackout at Fazbear's Fright, I don't know how you would defend yourself though.
So- wait- if the puppet in the ACTUAL Puppet is the one in the camera, what TF is Phantom Marionette? Every other Phantom animatronic is a hallucination created by illusion discs, but you see them for a moment before they "attack" you, so why is the puppet different?
I've heard of Salvage and Hybrid and Golden Bonnie. But never Tatters. And I was there at the time. That one must've been obscure, or perhaps limited to a specific social circle (either online or offline).
I used to be on team "Springtraps jumpscare sucks" when I was younger, but now it's honestly one of my favorites. The way he just leans into you, that grin the most prevelant thing on his face. It's like he's making sure you KNOW he's there first, wanting to fill you with absolute dread before he takes your life. This isn't the spirit of a child filled with rage and pain, this is a calculated killer still considering exactly how hell kill you.
100%. Him walking up to you is so in line with his character which is genius. It's not a robot haunted by a pained vengeful child lunging at you, it's a serial killer in a suit savoring his victory
I was so hyped for this video, and god, it didn't dissapoint at all. It feels so alive and passioned and I can't get enough of all the love that irradiates. I could say everything about this video but I can't begin to put it to words. Thanks for making it.
I miss the early days of FNaF so much. I love sotm (can't wait to see the orange fellah's thoughts on that now), but the early days have such a unique charm that is just gone now
I've been watching this channel for a while and the thing that got me to stick around was how passionate your discussions about games and media are. as a neurodivergent individual, I really love diving deep into my interests and obsessing over every little detail, and likewise, hearing others gush about them as well. this gave me a whole new appreciation for FNAF 3 even though it was one of my least favorite entries.
Watching an hour long video about someone just gushing about Fnaf 3 brought me SO much joy man. I LOVE how giddy and nerdy you got when talking about the lore and how Springtrap is written, because fuck yeah this game is actually the coolest thing ever and I adore it to pieces myself! Also smiled like an idiot when you mentioned the Springtrap art you did because it reminded me of little child me back in 2015 drawing Springtrap on printer paper, and I REMEMBER the sheer HYPE for this game before it came out bro omg it was an experience!! Great video to draw to thank you for sharring your exictment for this game, pleasure to listen to!
Phantom foxy and puppet aren't talked about enough. They are polar opposites. Phantom puppet will appear randomly and stands out like crazy; if you get jumpscared by her, she'll stare into your soul with incredibly loud noise playing that is hard to even describe. To parallel the horrifying creature that is Phantom puppet, Phantom foxy is an aura farmer so strong that the mere sight of him causes everyone, with no exception, to turn right back around and continue with their day 😂
Phantom puppet is not good for my ears (I have a bit of sensitive hearing) and Yeh it really is unnerving stared at by her!😓 And Phantom Foxy is like: yo what‘s up it’s me, what are you gonna do about it?! I really like both of them (the other Phantoms are okay).👁️🗨️👁️🗨️✨
19:00 oh my fucking god yes I LOVE this window so much! I ADORE the animations done for it it's incredible especially seeing phantom freddy limp across it UGH it's SO good! It's so fucking ominous seeing springtrap staring you down or seeing him dart across the window like a goblin i LOVE it!
That original FNaF Three video has to be one of the first FNaF Videos I ever watched. I was like 11 at the time and looking for FNaF content to satisfy my new found hyperfixation over the series. The video had come out and I really enjoyed it. I then rediscovered your channel later due to your first Bendy video. That video reignited the passion I had for a franchise I largely forgot about for about a year and to this day, both FNaF and Bendy are two of my favorite franchises to ever exist across all media. To say your channel is one of my favorites is an understatement. Thank you for ever- WAIT WHAT IS THAT THING AT THE END AHHHHDGDGDHHDH
AMAZING VIDEO!!! It really moved me hearing how passionate you are about Springtrap because I also get that way about my favorite characters. I have hyperempathy so I'm always yapping for eons about how deeply I feel- it felt really nice listening to someone else who also has so much love. ALSO,,, SPIKED COLLARS AND BRACELETS MY BELOVED!!! God I adore Clyde. You're so good at art, Pastra, never stop. I gotta buy that sweater!!!
Speaking on the overtones of "Green" in fnaf 3, my mythological brain even as a kid got reminded of demons depicted in games like spelunky or warcraft...as an adult and understanding that in Asian and in specifically Chinese myth, Hell and King Yama himself are draping in GREEN usually very sickly flames...and some figures in hell having powers over poison, rot and serpents...and Willium being a "snake oil" salesmen and later incarnating as a being of rot, envy and malice with his colors deflecting the almost "holy" gold/yellow of Springbonnie/Fredbear...quite literally de-facing a color of the divine with his sin...oozing from every crevice. Xingtian and the "Hungry Ghost" come to mind...both being draped in green and having a ravenous appetite for power and spiritual essence...i wonder who that sounds like...i see Springtrap/Willy as more a demon now...then a necromancer or lich, as while he is an inventor..his actions and drive are more barbaric and bestial then any crafty sorcerer could be...when that mask drops, it's best to leave the DEMON...to HIS demons.
I think my favorite thing about your newest videos is how unabashed you are with the Power Ranger GIFs. Seeing you become more open about being a fan on Twitter was great to watch and I'm happy to see it come to the main channel.

Hey Pastra! Just letting you know, the link for the Makeship doesn't seem to be working! It gives a 404 error. However, it does show up if you search Pastra from the home page!
I'm broke but good on ya
Clyde gets yet another form I see
My wallet is in excruciating pain but I need that sweater
Just dropped the cash
Imagining Pastra as a sleep paralysis demon but instead of scaring victims he just talks about horror games at the foot of their bed while the png runs through its spooky little cycles
This is exactly what happens in the middle of the night when my door opens
"Hey! HEY! Oh, good, you're awake. Anyway, where was I? Bendy chapter 3 is one of the better ones, the gameplay and mechanics and..."
wouldnt mind that tbh, I’d be fully invested
So that’s what Clyde does after his retirement from Dreams of an Isomniac.
I’d be chill with that, much better than my sleep paralysis demon that seems to be a giant clumsy moron. Seriously, for some reason I got the sleep paralysis demon that falls over itself.
FNAF 3 is William losing to a few ghost kids and making it EVERYONE else's problem
bro is mad that the ones he thought were easy kills were the ones that killed him
I would too if I got turned into Swiss cheese lol
He got neg diffed by ghost children it's funny as fuck.
lol
@JayKitDraw spring trap that u bro?
Finding out that springtrap was William Afton is like Darth Vader being revealed as anakin skywalker
Spoiler!!!!!!!!
@robertomartinsvalero6097my bad my bad
*Ice cube voice*
It's YOU!?
IT'S YOU!! HOW COULD YOU MAN, HOW COULD YOU??
yeah, both in importance and in how everybody knows it nowadays, its the darth vader phenomena for the gen z for certain.
...Yes... actually, yeah, that's EXACTLY what it was like, right down to (if you believe Micheal Afton was the FNAF 3 security guard) him being the protagonist's dad.
I didn't really get into the Fnaf fandom until after Security Breach so it's so nice getting to hear the story as it was experienced back when the games were coming out
I mean I probably could make my self forget everything and experience it all for the first time all over again and yes the way Pastra described it felt like what you said!👁️👁️🗨️✨👍
HOLY FUCK BIANCA?
EXACTLY I CONCUR ^^^
0:17 Five Years at Pastras
It’s been really that long, how time fly‘s I guess, how time fly‘s….👁️✨
ONLY FIVE? Time's weird
A reminder these early sequels came out months from each other
Scott’s consistency was truly admirable
garten of ban ban ahh development schedule
@rajmundseidel6035 With the difference being that the games were actually good and iconic
And Scott knew how to make the games distinct from each other to keep it fresh (cough Poppy Playtime)
@rajmundseidel6035 The difference is that Scott cared whether the game would be good or not.
Fun Fact: compared to Scott's games before fnaf, this is actually a slower pace than usual.
I love the idea of michael afton sitting in the office, trying desperately to keep his springlocked and angry dad at bay, glancing to the side to see phantom foxy ready to pounce, and just slowly turning away like "I saw nothing..."
Also the fact that it's foxy of all, to the guy who we now know as the foxy mask wearer
@polarplayz3114 Biggest Foxy fan in the world trying desperately to resist looking at his favourite guy
@thebaseandtriflingcreature174 "I thought they threw you in the Grand Canyon!"
"My death was, heh, greatly exaggerated. Anyway," _jumpscare_
@tornadoawe he got yiffed
@thebaseandtriflingcreature174this is legit the funniest comment ever and reminded me of why i love mikey. i'll be quoting it for a while
I'm not just locking in to this video, I'm spring locking into it
That's an awful joke, a well earned like.
Bro was waiting to say this
I’m springing it
You're not X, you're Y?
Okay, Afton.
But hey... That's just a theory.
@vladimirhorejs5477 A what theory?
@avacornthelastponybender8583
wouldn't be surprised, if it was discovered through game code, rather than during gameplayᐛ
As someone who got to experience that hype and the reveal, it was so SATISFYING seeing the purple guy get defeated by his own tool. And Scott's animation of him running away and the moment the suit breaks are so well animated.
I just want to show appreciation to the Power Rangers gifs in this series xD
Even saw some sentai with King Ohger.
If Pastra ever makes a video about Power Rangers, I will literally drink water
@TheRareOnion
How much water?
@TheRareOnionwhat do you drink regularly?
@IrregularityRowan a full bottle's worth
Tbh I think Springtraps jumpscare not being as intense as the other animatronics makes sense since he's more human so of course he's not gonna run at us and chomp at our face trying to bite our head off
Well he is a serial killer who was trapped in a building for decades in constant pain so I would expect a bit more of a animalistic reaction
@Anaverageplant342he is still in constant pain and he can't really move that fast
He's just an almost corpse, constantly in pain wearing a heavy metal costume, of course he wouldn't be super energetic
I still don't get why people don't like this jumpscare as a whole, even after all these years. You would think that people would understand its purpose.
@bulletcola7890the lead up is cool but when he does pounce it just doesn't look good
Shoutout to the tumblr posts about “English Willy” that came out the irl date when the events of FNaF 3 happened
Seems to hate ice cream and like the color purple, hates the night guard for some reason. Smells stinky and screams sometimes :)
@shleyal19
I mean id hate someone too if they hit me with their car 🤷♀️
Idk if that's just me tho
i fucking adore english willy
That series is just the best
"The hose incident"
51:59 alas, that’s the fate of every great plot twist. imagine how it felt to read The Curious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde without knowing the twist that is now synonymous with the title.
to be fair the twist is in a way preserved because the NATURE of Mr Hyde and how he works in relation to dr jekyll has actually been CHANGED thanks to popular media. anyone reading the story nowadays will be surprised to learn just how much of a willing figure in the case Jekyll was
@sarafontanini7051yeah unfortunately adaptation swapped the personalities of Jekyll and Frankenstein.
I always saw it as William trying to fight against the animatronic programming of Springbonnie.
At least you get a large catalog of fresh content to watch
Same, I was there when there only 4-5 videos in there
Ah, nice to see someone else who came along as early as I did! ^v^
@pedromartins6810 came in early around the age of treasure island.
Also, that Clyde redesign is SO good! I was not expecting it at all for this, so to see a glowup in Clyde's design was a completely unexpected surprise, but definitely a damn good and welcomed one!
I'm dumb, when did he show the redesign?
@ranorunadaira1452the last like 10 seconds of the video
@ranorunadaira14521:11:58
Aww he reminds me of Animal Jam, wearing those spiky accessories /positive
The proportions and anatomy is cleeeeannn. A clear display of Pastra's growth in skill in regards to character design
I find it funny that Edwin designed safe suits to be worn and Afton straight up said " nah mine's better "
@Fanboy-i5z probably more like “I’m going to say that mine is probably cheaper to make and we already have them… in reality I hate you, I hate your company, it will be mine soon and oh perish”
@foxythe9402I can hear the accent, this is so on character
I mean yeh that’s one of the worst ways to go (a lot of pain!).😰👁️👁️🗨️
No sane people would ever have them exist
Loved that ending lol. Fabulous video, feels good to stroll memory lane like this with someone who loved FNAF like I did.
52:50 that’s my only regret, is that I’ll never experience this series for the first time again, it was a good time theorizing with everyone trying to understand the story
1:04:21 "this guy right here, springtrap;" _editor zoomz in on endo_
Just stumbled upon this comment as I got to that segment and I thought "Huh, that's not Springtrap" xd
Yeh that was pretty funny, I really don’t know what happened there.👁️🗨️
I like that Springtrap was hidden in a majority of the cameras. It rose the tension while trying to find him before he gets to the office.
Yeah plus it seemed like this guy knew what he was doing. Unlike the kids this was an actual serial killer
I subscribe to the fan theory that the reason Springtrap’s jumps jumpscare was slow was because it was William recognizing his son
"Bittersweet, but fitting."
I always loved seeing fnaf as a story of a son righting his father’s sins while atoning for his own.
@VergilsLastName “four games, one story.”
From what I can tell the games you do play as Michael in is fnaf 5 fnaf 2 custom night fnaf 1 fnaf 3 and finally fnaf 6.
@baldiplays7080 And FNAF 4 (I mean the main gameplay, not the minigames)
WE FUCKING LOVE YOU (Non-parasocially and platonically) PASTRA!
Normally, a springlock failure would be gruesome and undesirable. In William's case, it was wholly satisfying and deserved
@ashhabimran239 exactly, this monster was taking the lives of children for some sick pleasure and the thing he used to do it became his downfall
To me this game felt more mature than the earlier ones. The mask has come off; this is a horror game and it's presented as a horror game.
Great video!
It’s hard to be a meme and a respectable villain at the same time. Afton is a rare breed where he can be both.
@S@SNoodleJuJuenator Armstrong, Albert Wesker, The culprit of persona 4, the mastermind of danganronpa, Dio, Griffith, Makima, Sukuna, Reverse Flash and Bill cipher would like to differ
Springtrap lowkey bad as hell
@bahesb2419 Yeah, Armstrong is fucking HORRIFYING. I was just saying Springtrap is ONE amongst the rare breed that can be memed on AND be a respectable character
Springtrap's reveal is basically the "Luke I Am Your Father" and "Rosebud Was The Name Of His Sled" of FNaF.
What's Rosebud from?
That is such a perfect comparison to explain what this feels like
I kept misreading Aton as Afton
realll
@ChristopherButler-g2gsame lol
Springtrap staring through the glass has always been terrifying
That version of him induces the most dread/terror for me.
I get it. Playing the game normally puts you in a flow state of sorts. The Phantoms exist solely to interupt that flow state.
9:22
i gotta say it's so cool that a pool of blood started growing under the red text in the trailer to foreshadow william's death.
Srpingtrapnis by far the scariest animatronic in Scott's frightful world
The springlock failure is to this day is still the best scene in FNAF history
Pizza Sim Henry's speech tho...
I really *want* to agree with this, but I really can't, because there's a scene in this franchise that still sends chills down my spine, no matter how many times I watch it:
"Connection terminated."
@octonine6212 both. both is good.
The realistic audio from that one guy will haunt me
What about the bite in FNaF 4? Or happiest day? Or even leaving the realm of mini-games entirely, there's Henry's pizza sim speech.
Happy anniversary! (Daniel here)❤❤❤❤
Thank you daniel.
awesome, daniel.
Great to see you Daniel
love the input Daniel
Cheers to that, daniel 🍻
10:33 Pretty sure people still call him that last one
I mean, yeah that's true. Ask e621.
Yea
Aww Pastra…hearing about how you got into digital drawing and making your first video…it’s so sweet. This community has started so many people’s interests and careers. So crazy to think about. Much love to you friend
oh my god that ending is hilarious
also, as someone who not only has watched that original fnaf video when it came out but has gone back and re-watched it, your style is wonderful and i hope you keep making videos
I find it fitting that Scott’s art design peaked with his franchise’s best villain
I prefer 1 and 2 but this is also good
the title screen is GOATED!
It's THE villain of the franchise
4:14 it’s almost like some kind of “fazz fest”
Hearing the twist again in your dramatic retelling honestly gave me a chill. For a second my brain forgot the lore and just listened.
i think pastra bringing up all these shocking reveals made me realize i think what were missing in modern fnaf is that same apparent excitement
you can follow the lore but massive game and lore changing reveals were front and center stage so it kept players hooked and guessing
that in addition to the hype of teasers id what i think truly made fnaf so iconic and exciting
41:39 every time I see phantom foxy standing all I can think of is the 5am at Freddy’s animation
“HELLO!”
*jumpscare*
14:09 Green Jumpscare warning for those who need it
Thank you
Thanks a bunch, that warning really saved me
I greened myself
Im not green enough
GASTER?!?!
Watching Pastra talk so passionately about fnaf 3 and it’s effect on the channel on it’s release date and moreover my birthday is such a treat
Much love Pastra, from the bottom of my heart thank you for everything!
Such a sincere/passionate celebration, jolly good anniversary, keep preaching for the love of it! Also, your new design looks cool, I like the spiked coller.
I was just rewatching the previous two saying "i wonder when the next one will come out", so this was a very pleasant surprise. Thank you :)
I wonder if John Paradise still watches your videos…
Honestly props for subtly changing the Phantom Puppet's hallway cam without saying anything until the very end. It was an unmatched feeling being like "Wait... The Phantom Puppet's cam explicitly shows it's normal version, they deliberately changed that"
Honestly I'd love a video essay where it sounds like someone is just going over the basics of something they like, but as you go through things are subtly different and edited. It'd be really easy to put a comedic or horror twist on that.
it isn't the same, but your description reminded me of midnight krick's alternate universe pokemon iceberg video. I reccommend it if you're into creepypasta type stuff
1:12:11 “ WHAT THE FU-“ 😂
Idk what that design is but I love it LMAO
@darana888Probably a new design, just adding some new details to Clyde
@pikachuthecritic3940 it has spiky bracelets and choker, plus the hood is like a triangle... WWAT DOES IT MEAN???
I hate it
Clyde's a triangle now lol (but in all seriousness I do like the new design. it still got the essence of Clyde).
mf sneezed, lost an arm stripe then put on a collar im cackling
This is what art is meant to do- inspire the creative spark in others, to make them want to create and share it. Happy Anniversary, Pastra, here's to many more!
10:42 OMG I REMEMBER THAT VIDEO. I only watched it once, so it's crazy having that memory suddenly complete in my mind all these years later.
I remember being so scared of spring trap as a kid and only figuring it out now that I'm older. Other animatronics, thought inhabited by human spirits, felt more like animals, on the other hand, spring trap feels like an actual human being with the way he preys on the player and there is nothing scarier than a human
Springtrap: so... what's my games aesthetic?
Pastra: green :)
Greeeeeeen 🟩😁
Something I find interesting is how future horror games, that were inspired by fnaf, managed to recreate the character of afton into their stories but do it in a way that they all feel like fleshed out versions of William, while still standing out as their own characters.
Two good examples of these are Joey drew from bendy and Harley sawyer from poppy playtime.
Joey drew (Bendy):
Joey drew was the ceo of ink studio that created the ink machine in hopes of making a success.
Harley sawyer/ the doctor (Poppy playtime):
Harley sawyer, also known as the doctor, is the mind behind the bigger body project, the one who we have to thank for playtime co experimenting on children and turning them into monsters.
He‘s your classic scientist villain who will use anyone, even children, as means to further his research and experiments.
In any other story, he‘d be the main villain like William was.
But instead of being a retelling of afton’s story, he‘s instead a deconstruction:
While his coworkers distrusted and disliked sawyer for his nature, they knew he was too important for the project to get rid of. so they decided to turn the doctor into a brain in a jar, reducing him into a source of answers for playtime co.
Harvey was turned from puppeteer to another puppet, that now has to serve the puppets he has created.
Who wins in a fight.
An undead robotic serial killer
A roboticized ai of a mad doctor
Some guy
i know the next one is fnaf 4 but im so excited for the sister location video, im loving these
Can't wait for FNaF 4 and what you have to say about that! also WHAT THE FU- 1:12:10
34:46 The sign he’s holding has to be the funniest inside joke of this channel.
This begs the age old question:
“Why he ourple”
I remember my take on the toy animatronic box was that I thought Springtrap had all the toy animatronics in the back, badly damaged of course. And he would assemble them over the course of the night, adding new threats in real time.
That's actually a sick theory plus Afton did know his robotics
Real time threats/events would be so cool. The faulty wiring (mentioned twice and it's why the building burns down) could have been so cool if you could experience a blackout at Fazbear's Fright, I don't know how you would defend yourself though.
Hearing you talk about your Springtrap drawing is very inspirational. Thank you for sharing it. C:
So- wait- if the puppet in the ACTUAL Puppet is the one in the camera, what TF is Phantom Marionette? Every other Phantom animatronic is a hallucination created by illusion discs, but you see them for a moment before they "attack" you, so why is the puppet different?
I remember when the time before the game when the community called Springtrap “Tatters”
I thought it was called Salvage? Though it may have been some people called it Tatters and others called him Salvage.
@CeoMacNCheese There was also Hybrid, there we a lot of fan names before Scott confirmed the name Springtrap
I've heard of Salvage and Hybrid and Golden Bonnie. But never Tatters. And I was there at the time. That one must've been obscure, or perhaps limited to a specific social circle (either online or offline).
This video has a Power Rangers RPM gif, therefore it is immediately good
I used to be on team "Springtraps jumpscare sucks" when I was younger, but now it's honestly one of my favorites.
He doesn't need to, dude has the penance stare.
100%. Him walking up to you is so in line with his character which is genius. It's not a robot haunted by a pained vengeful child lunging at you, it's a serial killer in a suit savoring his victory
the sentai gifs are the cherry on top honestly
41:03 I like how you can tell he hit "reboot all" by mistake and panicked
51:12 This is known as the Citizen Kane Effect, or “It Was His Sled” by TVTropes
God I remember watching the OG video when it came out. Has it really been that long?
Existential dread aside, happy anniversary!
2:10 you know the rules
And so do I
This comment convinced me to go rick roll my friend
53:14 me still mourning the twist in bioshock for almost a decade
Me with you, buddy. I try to pretend everything ended in Minerva's Den 😿
@karldi7648I got my partner and family to promise if I ever get a head injury and amnesia that they will get me to play it again 😭
I was so hyped for this video, and god, it didn't dissapoint at all. It feels so alive and passioned and I can't get enough of all the love that irradiates. I could say everything about this video but I can't begin to put it to words. Thanks for making it.
I miss the early days of FNaF so much.
I love sotm (can't wait to see the orange fellah's thoughts on that now), but the early days have such a unique charm that is just gone now
Yeah the franchise is quite different now and it has turned a few people off but I like the direction their going after SOTM
Happy anniversary!!! 🎉
The jumpscare was the friends we made along the way
I've been watching this channel for a while and the thing that got me to stick around was how passionate your discussions about games and media are. as a neurodivergent individual, I really love diving deep into my interests and obsessing over every little detail, and likewise, hearing others gush about them as well. this gave me a whole new appreciation for FNAF 3 even though it was one of my least favorite entries.
4:14 a freedy fazbear amusement park would go hard in a secret of the mimic style game, not going to lie
Phantom foxy and puppet aren't talked about enough. They are polar opposites. Phantom puppet will appear randomly and stands out like crazy; if you get jumpscared by her, she'll stare into your soul with incredibly loud noise playing that is hard to even describe. To parallel the horrifying creature that is Phantom puppet, Phantom foxy is an aura farmer so strong that the mere sight of him causes everyone, with no exception, to turn right back around and continue with their day 😂
Phantom puppet is not good for my ears (I have a bit of sensitive hearing) and Yeh it really is unnerving stared at by her!😓
And Phantom Foxy is like: yo what‘s up it’s me, what are you gonna do about it?! I really like both of them (the other Phantoms are okay).👁️🗨️👁️🗨️✨

Old fan here, i love your content regardless of the age of it!
Ur Fnaf 3 video is how I found this channel and got me and my older brother back into the fnaf franchise
AMAZING VIDEO!!! It really moved me hearing how passionate you are about Springtrap because I also get that way about my favorite characters. I have hyperempathy so I'm always yapping for eons about how deeply I feel- it felt really nice listening to someone else who also has so much love.

Xingtian and the "Hungry Ghost" come to mind...both being draped in green and having a ravenous appetite for power and spiritual essence...i wonder who that sounds like...i see Springtrap/Willy as more a demon now...then a necromancer or lich, as while he is an inventor..his actions and drive are more barbaric and bestial then any crafty sorcerer could be...when that mask drops, it's best to leave the DEMON...to HIS demons.
nah, our boy became a triangle

I think my favorite thing about your newest videos is how unabashed you are with the Power Ranger GIFs. Seeing you become more open about being a fan on Twitter was great to watch and I'm happy to see it come to the main channel.
