Thank you for getting such a unique band. Margaret Heroy on bass is a man. I wonder if the band name is "88 Pilgrimage" even though there are lots of tattoos on the whole body. LOL. "88 Pilgrimage" officially visits 88 temples in white costumes. Even if you fall down due to fatigue, you will soon know that you are a pilgrim if you wear white clothes. Locals provide pilgrims with free drinks and food. Most are mountain roads with a total distance of 1200km. I pilgrimage to a nearby hiking trail (in the woods) almost every day, listening to Band-Maid songs.

@@OldMrB Thank you for your reply. I remember that there used to be a funk band called "Tower of Power" in the past, but today's young people are not limited to band-maids, but they are full of talent and can't be alert. LOL. If you can react, please. "JYOSHI" means a girl.

I was always amazed by this band. They are absolutely crazy, but they are very good. I've never got to listen to their music systematically, though. Probably just not my current mood in life.
You absolutely must listen to their recent song "I can't go insane" : ruclips.net/video/SVz63DALQYM/видео.html It's a very different style from what you have just seen, and it's really a masterpiece.

    Hello Mr. B.
I'm using a translation tool, so I apologize if the content is difficult to understand.
I am a Japanese fan of the "八十八ヶ所巡礼 (hachijuhachikashō-junrei)".
I am writing this comment after being consulted by my friend Jakey R .
I was surprised to see many things in Mr.Per Vangtoft's comment that are not true.
Please forgive me if this is a long post in several parts, but I want to make sure I give you the correct information.

"八十八ヶ所巡礼", (a.k.a"八八(Hachihachi)")has been together for 15 years as of 2021, and the members are all men in their early 30s.
They are based in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
They are a unique band with a very high reputation among Japanese music enthusiasts.
But unfortunately, they are not well known to everyone in the world.
The band members are dedicated to pursuing their ideal music and putting on a good live show.
They don't seem to want to become a star that hits the charts.
Incidentally, vocalist and bassist マーガレット廣井(Margaret Hiroi)acts as a spokesman for the rare media interviews.
It seems that all three members are on equal footing and there is no clear leader.
Although their musical genre is complex and diverse
According to Margaret Hiroi, "We're on the edge of progressive rock.
However, the three of them have very different tastes in music.
The music of "八八" will give different impressions to different listeners.

The band's name comes from a famous Buddhist pilgrimage site in the hometown of the vocalist and drummer.
However, because of this name and Margaret's tattoo, they are sometimes misunderstood by people who only know them by name as a band with fanaticism and nationalism at the forefront.
But in reality, this is not the case at all.
Their fans know very well that the aforementioned misconception of the band is a big mistake.
Margaret is a much more sincere person than people think, and she hates to be bound by authority or rules.
(And by the way, Margaret likes to drink very, very much.)

"攻撃的国民的音楽" is a very popular song among fans.
It's a song about a new set of values, free from power and old, rigid norms.
The music video for this song may give you a religious impression, but there is no mention of reincarnation or religion in the lyrics.
So I was very surprised that Mr.Per Vangtoft explanation of the song was so far removed from the actual content of the song.
Did he get lied to by someone?
I was very disappointed to read his comments.
In other songs, Buddhism, Shintoism, and Japan's native monsters often appear as key words in their songs.
But then again, Margaret Hiroi once jokingly said, "The lyrics I write have no meaning".
His lyrics are so full of unique wordplay that they are difficult to decipher, and even more difficult to translate accurately into a foreign language.
He may be a cynical and shy person who does not want to reveal his true feelings to others.
Still, the lyrics of some of his recent songs are full of amazingly beautiful imagery.
That's why I feel that we shouldn't take what he says seriously.

One last piece of good information.
Just a few days ago (2021/05/16), "八十八ヶ所巡礼"held their first live concert in Tokyo in a while,
      and performed some new songs.
Their fans who couldn't make it to the concert are eager to hear the new songs.
From this event, I am very hopeful that it won't be too long before they release a new album.
Unfortunately, I don't think their new album will be available in any format other than CD,
as they are very reluctant to sell the songs of their album as separate downloads.
Instead, there are many of their unique music videos posted on RUclips,
so if you are interested, please listen to their other songs.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my long text.

I forgot to write something important.
I'm going to write down some of their recent songs that I recommend to you.
The descriptions of the songs are my personal impressions.
      凍狂(Tokyo)
      ruclips.net/video/AyyV__AecwE/видео.html&ab_channel=20140808ppr20140808ppr
The literal translation is "Freezing Mad".
It probably means "frozen mad city".
The song has beautiful but crazy lyrics like a dark fantasy.
The title, pronounced the same as Tokyo, the capital of Japan, may be the image of Tokyo that Margaret has in his mind.
      紫光(Shikou)
      ruclips.net/video/ekBxpwqJvJc/видео.html&ab_channel=20140808ppr
A song that invites you to "Come on, let's become a purple light and fly away into the night together”.
The lyrical melody played by guitarist “Katzuya Shimizu” is impressive.
      JOVEJOVE (Jabu Jabu)
      ruclips.net/video/C6CCYX2glIk/видео.html&ab_channel=20140808ppr20140808ppr
They sometimes make funny songs, too.
A drunken song that says, "Drink a lot of alcohol and forget about the hard times! ”.
The sound of the drummer "kenzooooooo", who appears humorous in the video, is very strong.
(Every time the band released an album, the "o" in his name would increase.)
