Bought a pair of Ariat Roughstock Patriots about 6 mos ago, and they have become one of my favorite boots. I downsized from 12 wide (my usual) to 11.5 wide at the salesman’s recommendation, and for the first week I thought I had really messed up… the boots were definitely a little tight at first. But after breaking in and stretching some they fit great. Very happy with the quality and comfort, and the embroidered flag looks great on the shaft. I look forward to wearing these for many years to come.

I got these Boots for riding about 2 years ago. I love them. they are a great Stirrup boot, almost made for western riding. The narrow square toe allows for easy movement in the stirrup while not cramping your foot like an R toe might. The stiff ness is also good for leg position in the saddle. I feel like the boot helps me keep my heels down more than my old Sedonas did. They are a little wide, but that's actually helpful, specially on colder days in wool socks where my feet might swell a bit, getting on and off a horse all day. For a Chinese boot meant to get beat up, they're pretty good.

Great channel. Found it by accident and really enjoy it. I have a work pair of Ariat’s. I forgot which one.. Not the Workhog but similar. I LOVE those boots. I need back support and my Double H killed my feet and back. Then I found the Ariat with LR4. Wow. They were a little tough to break in, mostly the sides of my foot. But still pretty comfortable. Once broke in, I wear them as much as i can.

I have the (now discontinued) round toe version of the Heritage Rough Stock boots. They are definitely stiffer than other boots, but they do eventually break in. I've been wearing Ariat roughstock for about 10 years. To be honest, the boots are heavy, but in a good way, the sense of solidity coming right through your body whenever you are walking or standing. The rubber sole holds up very well, the leather upper are prone to scratches and scuffs. I'd done lot city-walking with the Roughstock, it's do-able, will give your legs a good work-out. Had different color combinations, the one in the video (brown leather) is most durable, had a green black leather pair, the leather got cracks after 1 year wear, likely due to the tanning treatment. I'd say stay with these traditional colors :D

I have this boot and yes it does take a while for break in. I throw these on for for outdoor activities such as fishing and have held up pretty well. I wouldn’t buy these again just because of the saddle vamp; which wasn’t necessary for my use and IMO it would look better without it. The narrow square toe is why I went for the boot!

A few weeks ago I pulled them out and sprayed them down with vinegar and water, wiped them off and they looked brand new. Then I put some saddle soap on and then some mink oil and they really cleaned up nice. Better than new. These boots are really comfortable and mine aren't even broke in all the way yet. I'm on my second pair. I bought the first pair in 2011, made in Mexico. The second pair I've had since just before Christmas, made in China. The Chinese boots are good looking and comfortable, but not near the quality of the old Mexican made boots. The Mexican boots have now become my "good" boots, Chinese ones everyday kicks. Another company that got popular, and saved on labour rather than raising the price, sacrificing some quality. I was kind of dissapointed. Next pair will likely be another pair of Boulets.

I don't have the Outfitter but the Ariat Sport line has lots of overlap between models. I have numerous Ariats in my collection, including a Sport model. Like Jeremiah, I actually really like the 4LR insole, which is their entry level one. The outsole is durable and lasts a long time.
My biggest complaint with the Sport line is the cloth weave lining in the shaft. I suppose it could be valuable if worn in cold weather but can get uncomfortable in warmer weather. They are certainly the warmest pair I own.
For ~$150, I think the Ariat Sport line is a good value.

I absolutely hated these boots and I wanted to love them. I loved the way they looked on my feet but after close to the 60 day return period of wearing them around the carpeted area of my house the leather hadn't budge a hair. Most uncomfortable boot I've ever tried. And looked like after they would break in they'd probably fall apart a few months later. As always great video.

Anyone have jean recommendations for western boots? I have a pair of wranglers but they look baggy.

body shape makes a huge difference in jean selection , Wranglers are usually pretty good maybe buy a size that fits you better , they do a slim fit boot cut .

I’ve examined these boots at the local Boot Barn and I must admit that I dislike the wing-tip style design on the vamp. It looks ugly to me.

They do look good. Looks like short tops. I don’t like that. 13” minimum for me.

I would get the double H Dylan over that boot.

Wouldn't wanna wear those riding rough stock with a saddle, or riding period. If you needed to jump out of the saddle quickly you'd have trouble with getting hung in the stirrups with that rubber sole. Better off with barstow

@@georgeramirez1291 the sole is smoother than the other soles like the hybrid patriot that like a hiking boot. I like the look of this one but the sole of the other one. Need a sole that is not slippery

Made in China. Several great boot makers there in Texas. Even Tecovas are made in Mexico which is also has a great boot making legacy. Why buy Communist boots when you don't have to?

    • @JeremiahCraig

US and Mexican boots are certainly better made and more comfortable in my book too

ARIAT Steals customers from Carhartt normally not Tacovas, starting with their shirts and try and finding a shirt that’s not made in China. Between ARIAT and Carhartt the ARIAT is a lot better quality everything, Carhartt is junk. Tacovas are to clunky and heavy unless you go all leather and then it’s not a working mans boot anymore that way. What’s the third option there must be one?
