Removing individual scores won't really help anyone and the fanbase will find their own way to rank individual scoring anyway so i think making the individual scoring toggleable would make a lot more sense.
That's actually a really good idea, if they could make it toggle able then no one could be upset. People who like the individual scores can keep seeing it, while for people who don't can turn it off. And say someone who got in the top 10 they could be given the choice if they want to show it, if not, then that person on the podium can remain blank or as a question mark skin.
I agree that it should be removeable if you want, I know some players like Niki Nihachu (who is very good and Minecraft but due to how MCC is played it works her weaknesses) don't like seeing it as due to the nature of MCC she usually gets a lower score, however I highly doubt she'd ever complain about it and that she would simply enjoy the option, that might be a Niki thing though because I've seen a few competitors rank higher than Niki and complain about it so I guess it just depends on perspective

I’m on your side completely with individual scores - I think having the opportunity to massively improve your individual placement and personal performance is one of the biggest draws to a tournament like MCC, and removing it will definitely cause some of the more competitive players to enjoy it a bit less since that element is removed.
I think it would also remove a big element of what fans enjoy in MCC - analysing stats, predicting future teams based on individuals’ averages, etc. I guess a good way to explain it is, without individual stats and things like that, I know I would pretty much only be thinking about MCC during the actual tournament instead of outside of MCC day as well - with how MCC is currently, I spend a lot of time daily looking at stats on the subreddit, analysing different people’s performances, etc, which I and many others wouldn’t be able to do if the individual stats were removed from the event.
I agree, mcc is a fun event but it’s also a competition. It takes out the satisfaction of doing well and/or winning if you can’t see how well you did against others
What i think they should do is track the individual scores but not reveal them until after dodgebolt. that way competitive players and fans could still have the stats to see how they did in the event while other players won't have their performance looming over their head during the competition. or maybe have them shown right before dodgebolt so that dodgebolt is still the climax but their also aren't any more coins going towards the scores.
I don't know, I see the merit to both and I feel like there is a lot of middle ground that could be played with.

I honestly think nearly everyone has a love-hate relationship with individual scores. Sometimes it puts pressure on them and they can get disappointed when they are not living up to expectations - others or their own. However, that excitement on their face and in their voice when they improve and get a better placement is always amazing to see. You can always tell how ecstatic they are at their own improvement.
This channel deserves a lot more love.

Techno actually got 4307 coins with a disadvantageous coin system. If we were to use the current coin system (affecting Survival Games and TGTTOSAWAF), he'd actually be at 4537 coins instead.
i mean, kind of? some games he played were removed and team balancing has changed so much since then that it's almost impossible to see that score beaten today.

@@snsaraah Yup. You can watch the vid of the admin stream on RUclips. The bit is quite funny. I’m pretty sure it’s Noctis who kept pushing the bit of MCC 17 being themed as a wedding of her own.
Getting rid of individual scores as a whole is like trying to bandage an arm that isn't hurt. (I'm personally in favor of letting players opt out whenever they want and adding more rewards) If we're talking about getting rid of placements completely in order to lessen all the pressure on creators and make the event less intense then the main issue isn't with the event itself, the issue is with the fans and their culture surrounding MCC. Not with PvP/sweat creators, not with Noxcrew, not with Scott. Of course there are people who just don't want to be on the score boards and that's totally valid, just let them opt out. But on with what i think is really the issue.
Individual scores are just a tool that some people use to contribute, knowingly or not, to a toxic environment. It's the same with people's personal tier lists, team predictions, and the fact that MCC is a competition in the first place. If these aspects of the event were the actual problem I'd say Noxcrew and Scott should just put all the games on a server and not hold a competition at all. Which is, of course, ridiculous. MCC is brilliant and one of the best things to come out of the community in a while. They shouldn't stop the event because the competitive aspects aren't the problem. It's how people use and talk about those aspects.
Twitter and Reddit are the two main platforms I see issues on. Twitter is the most visible with the constant harassment and ridiculous claims towards CC's and the staff of MCC. Every time there's a glitch someone on Twitter explodes even though a glitch's irl comparison is like a deflated ball or a shattered basketball hoop. Or when someone does something that deserves a bit of criticism or conversation but people immediately jump to literal abuse.
Twitter is bad 80% of the time but Reddit stat frogs contribute a lot towards an atmosphere of shame and low self esteem. The tier lists are taken way too seriously and if people consider you under A tier it's like you don't even exist. The meme tier lists are great, their arbitrary subject, like swearing and sand missed, and sometimes random placements makes it so that everyone can be included. People can focus on funny stuff rather taking everything so seriously and CC's can stop beating themselves up about meeting some internet rando's standards. If stuff like this didn't have it's current weight and proliferation in the fanbase I believe that players would be able to brush things off a lot easier.
I love the competitive aspect of MCC, I find that when the team I'm rooting for is winning or putting up a good fight I enjoy the event way more. When my favorite players win a game or place high on the boards I feel like even if the team isn't going to win at least there's still something to play for. It's just a side effect of being competitive myself. But in the spirit of lessening the burden on players I feel like there should be placements that are achievable to CC's that aren't PvP or movement stats and coins should be awarded accordingly. Stuff like number of blocks collected for floaters in Buildmart, items crafted for supports in Sky Battle, and how long you spend in the center room in Sands of Time for sand keepers since they're literally the most important people in the game.
I feel like there's so much that could be added to reward people in MCC and improved with the fans, in my opinion that should be the focus rather than removing something that's motivation for a lot of people and viewers.
For the sand keepers, what about coins for inserting sand? Like 5 coins per sand inserted or something. Would really reward staying as long as possible too since you would want to use every bit of sand you could find.

A more likely possibility could be a team bonus for most sand mined and placed in the timer since the coins in SOT are split evenly and I don't think that's likely to change soon. If there were to be more individual rewards I'd say something like most puzzles completed, highest number of keys collected/vaults opened, and your idea of sand placed. I bet it'd be hard to implement tracking things within the game coding if it got too complex though
If Reddit told him to be quiet, he certainly wasn’t when I was tuned in at the start. Tommy is too loud depending upon the team. It’s situational. Like most group projects in life, you have to work with the people you have.
He & Wilbur can actually hurt each other in MCC because they spin out of control. It drowns out the other two teammates.
I mainly watch Wilbur’s POV and I’m a Tommy sub, enjoying his SMP server so this isn’t hate. But I left their POV early to focus on CPK’s & Dave’s and don’t regret that decision.

I don’t have a reddit but I have to get this out of my system. What if for the mcc anniversary this year we did an mcc1 rematch. Not sure how many of those players would be willing to join back in, but I think it’d be a good time.
Most fans came when techno and Dream joined, so most fans won’t have the nostalgia and be excited for it

no cpk won't be in the next mcc (sept 18th)so he won't be in mcc 17. i feel like mcc all stars is too early to happen for mcc 18 (maybe mcc 19 since it will happen in november which is mcc's bday) i'm guessing a canon event is happening after mcc 17
Individual scores are pressure for some but also motivation for others, it depends on the CC themselves how they view it. Personally, I like watching CCs try and beat their previous placement and try to break top 10 but I also understand that the bottom half placing CCs might feel really disheartened and pressured by viewers that they aren’t performing to expectation. Individual points is also a point of comparison for the viewers but I don’t think it feels nice to be called a “bottom 10 player” .
Personally, if I were to change the individual point system, I would keep the top 10-15th point placements known but anyone below 11/16th would not be listed out. However, some lower placing CCs love to see their individual points as well and they take it as a motivation or a comparison with the Top placements so I propose that all individual coins can be toggled on and off by the CCs themselves. For eg. If CPK turns off his individual coins, the scoreboard at the side would not list his coins but will still list his placement if he is in top 15 and the overlay where the individual coins show would only show his placement if he was top 15 as well. If CPK turns on individual coins, then it would show his coins as well as his placement as per usual. This applies server wide(idk how to implement it but maybe a survey could be done before hand for each player and then each player’s score could be coded differently prior to the event) so if CPK turns off individual placement, nobody would know of his points and placement unless he is in top 15 then it would show his placement but not his coins regardless.
After the event, I’m sure those hard enthusiasts would still find a way to calculate everyone’s points but at least during the event, the players who don’t like individual scores would feel more at ease and less pressured by the fans for them to do well.

I agree that there should be an option for seeing individual scores or not. As someone who gets stressed when under pressure, I cannot imagine how terrifying it would be if I were under that amount of pressure. I think everyone should have a choice in if they want to see individual scores or not.

For the individual scores, I feel that either the option to turn it off or only show the top 10 players their score would work best
For the individual score thing , why not disable for the event but right after dodgebolt is done, the score is then enabled so players can still see their rankings but are not pressured to do better during the event

I agree, making the individual score optional will allow the players who like to see it to continue and those that don't to turn it off, that way I believe there won't be as many complaints than turning it off completely for all players.
I honestly think they should keep the individual scoring bc although for some people it can he disheartening if they arent doing as good for some people it can be encouraging knowing that they placed higher than they typically do and knowing when and where they need to improve on statistically, of course i know not everyone likes to see it and arent too into statistics which is why i think seepeakays idea to have a setting to turn it on or off is cool, i just think they shouldnt disable it entirely for everyone because it does do some good

As someone who is very into stats, I really don't like the concept of not being able to see individual scores at all. Maybe they could show it on MCC Live, and only show the top 10 in-game on the podiums? So you can only see your place if you're in the top 10. But in general I really don't like not being able to see stats that should be available.
I agree with the suggestions on the subreddit- if the player doesn't want to see it, they should have a toggle that turns it off for them. This is one thing where we just don't need to choose one or the other, we can have both.
You know there would be that one guy on the reddit who would try and figure out the scores anyway
I think it'd be funny to turn individual scores off during the tournament, but right before/after Dodgebolt they reveal the top 10 and all the individual placements. That way no one knows their individual placement until the tournament is over.
