switched from iPhone 15 Pro. On day 8 and absolutely love it. First time on android in 12 years, so I am overwhelmed with features and customization. Wallpaper engine,3rd party app options, Gamecube/Wii emulators, 8 hour screen time, camera, Gemini, and actually getting to experience true multitasking have all been amazing features for a long time apple user. This seems to perfectly replace my iPad mini and phone. My biggest concern is durability, but that is what insurance is for.
Moved from z fold 6 to this wonderful piece of technology. It's almost there... missing samsung Deck and the unbeaten software experience. Google needs to work on this asap
3:55 Google's software is still years behind the hardware. There are no optimizations to leverage the larger screen in meaningful ways vs. something like the Z Fold/OneUI. I use my Z Fold with various floating windows and regularly reconfigure how I have my apps split when docked in ways the Pixel literally cannot do. I was interested in going to the Pixel from my Z Fold when it was announced, but the software is just such a massive step backward that I can't.
I say this all the time and get jumped in the comments when I say it LOL. But I agree, it's a shame that Google has not utilized the software. I do expect them to work on doing that for the next model though since the 9 launch kind of took off
Maybe not everyone wants or needs floating windows, sure enough with new android update things will improve, also i uses z fold 1/3/5 always thought UI will improve those little bugs, apps not working properly, little issues here and there, the never did and yes it is a big deal cz those issues just change the way u use a smartphone especially with 2 displays, and everyone knows those issues are persistent with Samsung UI but most people just ignore.... i hate the fact that people judge other phones without even using them or just by watching a few videos😂... i use this phone and its way better than a z fold maybe got less features but whatever it does its done really well and flawless.... go use it in a shop or somethin and you'll know what i mean.
Switched from OG Fold and can´t be happier. Tried also a few cases etc. but ended up ditching everything including an screen protector on the outer display since it´s impossible to find any good one. I just wish they would invest more in software features for it like muilti windows, different homescreens and so on. Thanks for the video as always!
Which Fold did you have? I'm using the Z Fold 6 now alongside the Pixel Pro Fold and the screen resolution, definition and clarity are noticeably lesser on the Pixel......I have to put the brightness slider all the way to 70-80 percent to get comparable brightness to the Fold.... Z Folds screens just can't be beat maaaaan....and if your used to that resolution and hold it in high regard your gonna notice then difference when using the FOLD. The Pixel is a GREAT experience though....when people talk about Pixel Experience I see what they mean. The little nuances within the OS that Google pays attention to and dials in to your usage is awesome. Google brightened the screen from last year ...hopefully next year it will come up a bit more.
@@GearWave I was refering to the first Pixel Fold. I guess if you compare it to the Z Fold 6 you won´t feel that big improvment over all like I did. The brightness improvement is night and day for me but sure Samsung had always the best screens so that will be a tough and long way to get to their level. We´ll see and hope for next year.
@mustafatunc3297 as a main phone the first pixel fold would have been tough because it was ridiculously short when closed and had all these "don't do's" from other foldables....
I can't go back to the regular style phone. Foldables have completely ruined that experience for me. I will say if you are not opening the device at least 50% of the time that it may not be worth the money. I still think it's a little overpriced and it lacks extra customization that the OnePlus open and the Galaxy z fold 6 have. I'm hoping the next iteration of this device has more customization.
I think the pixel 9 fold is an almost pro experience. What are everyone's thoughts on the potential pixel 10 fold? Could that be more of a true pro experience?
I've had this now for about 3 weeks and I've decided to go back to my pixel 9 XL. There are always going to be a compromise with a fold device, the crease and highly reflective fold screen are starting to annoy me. Software feels buggy and unfinished for a fold device and some apps don't work until you resize , the battery life and outer display also feel too compromised , camera is good but once again a compromise compared to my other pixel. At this price it needs to be better. Personal preference also is I prefer the finger print reader. It also feels very fragile and I'm worried I'm going to break it, that's more me then the device to be fair
Seems like the lower antenna lines are also not perfectly lined up when the phone is closed? This is the case with my phone. I can move the two halves just a bit when closed. This makes them perfectly lined up, but after the next opening and closing they are a bit off again. I thought this issue is only with my unit. Also does your phone makes a sound when opening? Also
This is my third foldable after a galaxy fold 4 and the original pixel fold, the fold 4 was outstanding however what I didn't like about it was Samsung's software and apps as I primarily use Google services and samsungs substitutes for those just get in the way but the hardware was practically flawless, I had the pixel fold for a year and I absolutely hated it, the software was so buggy and unoptimised, it also lacked any real foldable features, the only things that really had going for it was the cover display which I really liked as it resembled a lot of the older smartphones back when they still used 16:9 aspect ratios as well as the aspect ratio of the inner display being more suitable for watching videos and when rotated it was better for social media apps like Facebook and Reddit when compared to the more square folding displays, another problem I had with the device was how fragile it was and I end up having to make 6 insurance claims because the folding screens kept breaking on me and I never had this issue with the galaxy fold 4. The 9 pro fold for me is a massive improvement over it's predecessor, the software is way more polished and all of the bugs I came across with the original pixel fold were gone and the screens are much brighter and the battery life is significantly improved while also being even thinner but I will miss the aspect ratios of the original pixel fold.
The video is good and thank you for the insightful information, one thing I found weird was the background music, I think there is a faint ringtone in the background I literally thought that someone's phone is ringing next to me 😂😂 But other than that, very good video man.
Pairing it with Logitech Keys-to-Go 2, a MX Master S mouse, and case with a kickstand makes it a great mini backup computer. Just need floating windows/desktop windowing support
I took m P9PF back after about 10 days because of an incurable Blue Tooth problem. Maximum 6 foot range to me Bose head phones, terrible connection to my hearing aids, Dropping connection to my car (Phone as a Key). I tried every control in Settings/developer... nothing helped. Wrong I've taken mine 2 weeks to Miami beach taking pictures and laying back in the Sand never had a problem also the same with my Z Fold 3 for 3 years even in the Ocean taking pictures of the beach. The only thing once you get water in the charging port you have dry it out.
This is my first foldable. Overall I'm impressed. This phone is more pocketable than I expected for a large foldable. The big screen is great for media consumption but the phone feels perfectly fine when folded. Doesn't feel like you compromise with either screen or the phone size. I know the camera is probably not as good as the standard Pixel 9 or Pro or other top tier 2024 phone. But the camera is very good and if youre upgrading from another over a year old phone, it at least wont be much if any of a drop off. Its a very good camera which I would say is as good as my Pixel 7 Pro which I loved . The areas of concern for me is the battery life, durability and the biggest concern charging. Battery life isn't terrible but isnt great....if youre away from the charger all day this phone is barely going to make it through the day. Yes I understand YMMV depending on how much you use it. But if you're using it a lot, you may not make it through a full day. Which leads to the biggest concern charging. This thing charges too slowly. Wired charging is tolerable but definitely not impressively fast. But the worse is wireless charging which is terrible.... it's slow and most standard stand type chargers will be hard if impossible to use. I now use a magsafe charger, it works but it is slow. If you need a quick charge up in the middle of the day for whatever reason you must plug in...and it still won't charge that quickly. The last thing is I do worry about the durability of that inner screen. I suppose thats just something you will have to deal with on any foldable. But mone has picked up quite a lot of scratches just from usage. Really only noticeable when screen is off but it does concern me long term how well the inner screen will hold up.
no lie, I just ordered my skin and prism today, after buying all my x-mas gifts for my kids, this is my present to myself. Can't wait for it to get here. Glad dbrand isn't back ordered this month as that's what's held me back from ordering them.
I upgraded to the 9 Pro. I just couldn't justify the extra outlay in my head. And if I'm honest, the "tablet" aspect of the foldables just falls flat for me. You unfold the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and you don't really have a tablet. You have a square-ish phone. Every time I se one open, I hear the sad trombone noise in my head.
Many people are intrigued by the idea of using the inner display of foldable phones, but in practice, most of us only need the front display for everyday tasks such as replying to messages, making phone calls, taking photos, and using payment apps. Because of this, I found that I rarely utilized the inner display for speed and convenience. I believe this is one reason why sales for foldable phones have been slow and it seems that the market for them has peaked. Some manufacturers, like OnePlus, have skipped a year without releasing a new model, while others, like OPPO, are reconsidering whether it's worth continuing with foldable phones. I see these devices as niche products, and with a limited number of buyers, there won’t be economies of scale, which means prices are likely to remain high.
@hobbitpsi for power users though it has to have fast charging. For you it may suffice but to get the devices selling more units they need to step their game up
@@troydyall6624 I mean I'm a pretty big power user. only thing I don't do is play mobile games, which drain any battery fast. And yet I still get the battery life I do. Hell even on a very taxing usage day, I get a whole day. Take Thanksgiving for example. Pair all my usage with a ton of calls coming in, unplugged from charge at 7am and by 11pm was sitting at about 58%. Hell Yesterday was a lot of video watching included and ended the night at 46%. So yeh, Fast charging really isn't a big deal unless your battery can't last a day, and hell majority of people plug their phones into a charger when in their car anyway.
You can take it to the beach just fine. People make too big of a deal about the IP rating. It'll be fine, the only way sand will get in there are 2 factors 1. it's gotta be very small dust sized sand to get in. 2. It's gotta be direct contact with the device. Like Jerry rig everything does where he literally pours the dirt on it to intentionally get the dirt in the device.
It's gonna be quite some time before it goes away. I've learned that especially in a dark room you aren't going to see it. It's the lights behind you reflecting the screen. I I'm very OCD and I've learned ways to not notice.
It's really not as noticeable as you think. Have owned several Foldables over the years and these videos don't do them justice because when filming their's using bright lights. so the creases will show up. On normal use, yeh you'll see it in bright light or when looking at it from an angle, but when using it and staring at it straight out, you don't see it.

Great review by the way!
I hated the design wen folded Sharp Conners one side and curved on the other side what's that
I personally love that about it. When holding it folded in my left hand it gives it a bit more of a grip than the rounded side.

Seems too fragile if you can’t even take it to a beach with confidence 😮
That's the downside with any foldable, not just the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
You can take it to the beach just fine. People make too big of a deal about the IP rating. It'll be fine, the only way sand will get in there are 2 factors
1. it's gotta be very small dust sized sand to get in.
2. It's gotta be direct contact with the device. Like Jerry rig everything does where he literally pours the dirt on it to intentionally get the dirt in the device.

Was about to say that😭 0:50
total bulls1t 🤬.......as long as i can see the fold 😡
It's gonna be quite some time before it goes away. I've learned that especially in a dark room you aren't going to see it. It's the lights behind you reflecting the screen. I I'm very OCD and I've learned ways to not notice.
It's really not as noticeable as you think. Have owned several Foldables over the years and these videos don't do them justice because when filming their's using bright lights. so the creases will show up. On normal use, yeh you'll see it in bright light or when looking at it from an angle, but when using it and staring at it straight out, you don't see it.
