Thanks for the video. Very informative. Could you list the various chemicals/treatments that you used with a link where possible. Thanks.

Please tell us or have your camera zoom in on what you’re actually using for “sedation”. This is very important for the viewers to see and to know, or how else can we take care of our fish in this way?

    • @KoiTVjapan

We use koicalm a brand of sedation

How and where online in the U.S. can I find the sedative or calming solution for a large Koi that I have very similar to yours ? I'm unable to find anything online outside of the U.K. and that one will not ship to the U.S. Please advise. My Koi had a very large deep wound type oval area on the top of his head and the infection has eaten away at it a great deal. I've been treating him with aquarium salt (no filtration or carbon) and anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic solutions from Petco. Thanks! Arthur N.

I don't have koi but I have very large shubunkin the same size as this.
For future reference ....after watching you get it sedated ....
..surely you should let the air get to the gills....( when attending the wound )
..you closed them shut by holding it a certain way , plus the towel.
Is it okay to cover their gills when treating them.?
    Wont they suffocate ?
I don't feel confident with this technique .....
I've often used life saving drugs ...expensive stuff !, ( when imported from USA)
Methalyne blue ...for skin troubles...Which you must never get anywhere near their gills or eyes...as it burns.
Seachem Kanappex which has been a life saver for fish with dropsy. Luckily this goes into the hospital tank.
But with methalyne blue, I always hold a wet cloth NEXT to the gills, not over them ...
...and always get someone to assist me.
One to apply medicine.. one to hold the fish and keep it calm , and stop the meds dribbling into the gills etc.

The koi is sedated, the amount of oxygen in the body is enough, also its better to keep the gills wet, the towel is wet and therefore much better than leave the gils in the open air.

Thanks fro your message, Kaynagel-wisberger1940. It's Koi Sedate from the brand Kusuri. Unfortunately it's not available in every country.. the alternative would be koihuis.nl/fish-pharma-fish-calm

@@KoiTVjapan we don't have local Koi stores. I've looked and have not seen anything like that. We are lucky if we can get normal fish food, since covid hit.
