It's always the same though! It's a constant repetition of the same old patterns, the failure of democracy, power relations, corruption, inability to communicate, lies, lies, lies... but some(a few!) good moments also within all this.
No wonder that Athens has become one over your favorite cities. I have never been there but the video shows a beautiful city with a lot of great opportunities. Fantastic views too. I didn’t know there was a beach as well. If I ever get to Athens, I believe I'd rather pay for my ticket to Acropolis instead of being half choked in a crowd. But fir now, Jordan is the first place I'll go. Hopefully it is still safe and peaceful to visit 😃 Thank you for this great video 🤩
Yes, I think paying the entrance would have been better tbh but we didn't realise how busy it would be. I'm sure Jordan will be safe. Have a great time!

As a local I might say that tourists do really get a distorted idea of the city, the government has just kept a small part of it looking nice so that tourists would like it but the rest, I mean the residential areas... some of them are nice but too costly and the others where accommodation is affordable are just.... 😢

Accommodation, I make a short list on booking.com and then decide which is best value or looks the nicest.
Routes, I'll look on TripAdvisor to see what it suggests doing or I'll look on Google images and see what looks cool to see.

Well it won't be freezing and won't be that hot. So perhaps take a coat but not a super thick one

How did you think you were getting a balcony with a view of the acropolis? Wishful thinking?
Because I wrote to the hotel to ask for a room with a view of the Acropolis and they said they would try their best to give us one. That's how...

Greek big cities unfortunately and i mean the buildings are ugly dull miserable very little spaces between them with no green full of concrete,in the contrary with greek villages and islands which are all beautiful.I would like for my cities to be like budapest with these beautiful traditional buildings or New york style with scyscrapers.

@@WestGoesEast Yeah I'm with you on that one, i have gopro hero4, ive seen its still used in some of the alone series as new go pro have a rep for overheating/ turning off. I need an upgrade though. congrats on that Faroes vid passing 100k thats awesome

Loved your video, it brought back so many wonderful memories! We went to the Acropolis on a Saturday in May 2022 just after 5:30pm. The tourist hordes were all leaving and the crowds at the top were light and kept thinning out until we practically had the place to ourselves. It was great! We stayed until closing time when the Greek military came to take down the flag. The Temple of Hephaestus in the Ancient Agora is also a must see.

The bus ticket is just like the metro ticket.
Just got back from Athens. Not going to lie it's a lovely mix of historic and modern times. The big issues are obviously the traffic and that slick marble that's everywhere. Lycabettus was lovely and the walk up through kolonaki is probably worse than the walk up the mount itself.
Tourism is dying by itself. Or rather, with climate change. There is no excuse for contributing to the climate disaster, there is no excuse for destroying the cultural heritage of other countries - however well-intentioned. And by the way, the heat in the Mediterranean countries is already a health hazard.

Bus is free, I bought the Plastic Bus Card but no one pays and never seen any ticket checker either. Love Athens and Greece❤❤❤

where can you fly your drone in Athens? did you have any issues flying it over the acropolis
I just took my chances. I got a notification to say it's the Acropolis but it didn't stop me.
@@WestGoesEast what drone are you using? I live on the edge of a frz and my dji stops access, I know eu are now getting quite strict and you need a operator id

Whilst Greece is a nice place, the people are not. It is not a case of if or when you will get ripped off, because you will, the question you have to ask yourself is how much and how often.
Indeed. For sure you will be ripped off by taxi drivers. For us greeks it is for example difficult to find a taxi in the Summer, especially at ports or airports, where taxi drivers prefer to take first foreign tourists and ask 2-3 higher fee. Sad but true...
@@Pete-uo1ei This is not restricted only to taxis. It happens in restaurants and site like the acropolis, just to name a few.
Clearly you haven’t got experience in travelling if you are getting ripped off from every direction.
Really because you have a case with one taxi driver the whole Greek are not good!? Get serious
@@ΒαγγεληςΝοτης It was not one taxi driver, it was every taxi driver. It included restaurants and even sites. Example. Epidavros, Diro, and, Olympia.
