I hope this makes eBay bring back the 20% final value fee discount for Top rated sellers. As a seller when they dropped it from 20-10% that was a HUGE deal and I always thought that was a mistake on eBay’s part.
@@JaneDoey Fanatics wouldn't be charging fees in excess like eBay. eBay has benefited far too much off the hobby. At least you can sell your cards on Fanatics with less fees.
Greatest thing I ever heard as a reseller on Ebay. Pwcc was banned and nothing changed. This will do nothing. Remember ebay has a stake in COMC. Ebay probably likes this.
I went to Burbank 2 months ago and I heard Rob praising Fanatics that there good for the hobby, behind him was the Burbank card show poster for Anaheim in August. I have a feeling Neo that there is a deal in the works like you said before where Burbank/Fanatics collab with the Card show here on West coast. This is step one.
I go to Burbank once a month, I see there operation first hand. Win for fanatics, Burbank won't sell as many cards on collect, I'm sure the fees will be lower. Ebay will always be the King of the sports card marketplace.
I’m glad they are leaving eBay. They list most of their cards at $1.49 free shipping and you have to match that or undercut a little to get a sale when the card should be selling for at least $2 or more. True, .50 cents isn’t much, but it adds up when you sell thousands of low end cards a year.
Good update. I will guess Rob got a lot of STOCK OPTIONS. Like life changing. Little risk IMO. I will guess Burbank Show will become a Fanatics Events Show. Very excited to see the pieces falling into place. Collect could challenge eBay.
Maybe this no longer applies or does not apply to Burbank but PWCC [prior to Fanatics] keep all unsold items sold through auction. This happened to me. I lost a card [it was worth maybe $6 but the principle of it is what is important] because it did not sell and PWCC kept the card. I reached out to customer service who basically said it is in their terms and agreement. Nothing they can do. I will never sell anything via auction. How many hundreds of items go unsold that they keep? Again not sure if this has changed with Fanatics taking over. Hope it did!
I have bought many cards there. Never an issue. However, my biggest issue [I don’t know if this changed with Fanatics taking over PWCC] is that any unsold auctions are kept by PWCC. I lost a card [worth maybe $6] because no one bought it. I did not know it is in their terms that they keep all unsold items that you put on auction. The most ridiculous thing I ever read. I will never sell anything via auction with them. Buy yes! Sell, hell no!
All he's going to do is inventory all his cards and Fanatics will eventually try (or in some way force him) to sell the entire 40 million for a super low ball price. He loves to do what he is doing BUT he does have a sell out price that he is willing to take. always has. And his son, Ryan, loves cards as well, but always seems so dispondent, whenever I see him in videos, especially when (having to) buy people's lame stuff that they take in there. Poor guy knows its gonna linger in their stores for eons. But hey, they are still providing liquidity to the market, right? More like charity, and that can only go so far before any business owner says 'I'm Done, Later! Here, take all my inventory of 30% Junk wax for Pesos on the dollar! and it's totally ok to roll them all into Collateral Debt Instruments (Repacks) like your wealthy friends did once upon a time with another form of inventory."
Burbank is a rounding error for Ebay You are making a bigger deal than it is. Burbank will sell less each month to start as a result too. Fanatics Collect is the only winner here and they probably had to do a sweetheart deal for Burbank to help establish their marketplace. Meh....
I don't understand how this would work for Burbank Sportscards. Fanatics Collect currently only allows graded or authenticated cards to be sold there. Is Rob Veras going to get all 40 million cards graded? Probably not, unless there is something new in the horizon that we haven't seen yet.
You never actually sell anything on ebay. You give a buyer a free option to own the card for a locked in price, and they can return it or file a chargeback anytime. That eventually gets exhausting as a seller, this is just the beginning of the outflow of cards from ebay.
This is bigger than I believe people think. Sellers will go where they can maximize their profit AND get eyeballs on their item (ie. so much selling on FB marketplace for that reason but more sketch). A partnership with a shop like Burbank is a huge step in getting more eyeballs on cards with a lower fee for sellers. I never sold on PWCC but have plans to sell on Fanatics collect. People are naive to think that eBay will always be king in the card space. If eBay doesnt adjust fees and Fanatics gets enough eyeballs on their marketplace, sellers would be foolish to not move to another platform.
@@theboringchannel2027 companies can move eyeballs by saving sellers money and adding more inventory to their site. In this case, sellers should want to encourage eyeballs to go elsewhere which is what Burbank is doing.
@@jeffersonjohnson sellers go where the eye balls ALREADY ARE, unless they are getting large incentives to do otherwise like burbank is receiving, which average joe seller will not receive.
@@theboringchannel2027you didn’t read my original post, I know sellers go where the eyeball are. My point is that this is a significant move for Fanatics to attract more buyers to their marketplace.
@@theboringchannel2027 so what your are saying is that sellers will always be slaves to the 15% ebay fees because that's where most of the eyeballs are and that will never change? Hate to break it to you but ebay trading card sales have dropped because sellers are going to other marketplaces. 100% of my inventory used to be on ebay and now I sell about 50% of it elsewhere and I do just fine. If inventory drops, the eyeballs you speak of eventually move to where the inventory is going. Burbank going to another platform is a small step in that direction. So far, Fanatic really showed how much it cares about the hobby. Raising prices on every product release every year while creating 70% larger checklist, infinite print runs and garbage autos. They're worse than Panini. There whole marketing department is chocked full of former poached Panini reps. Reason why Topps is going to crap.
Buyer incentives? They have the greatest incentive of all on eBay, knowing that eBay will often side with them so they can scam sellers all day long lol.
Good! Burbank cards seem to be nice, fair and decent folks, but tough for me to ever buy from them with half-ass garbage pictures, so could never tell what the condition the card really was most of the time.
How about Fanatics Collect think about sorting themselves out first.. Getting charged postage fees on purchased cards when not requested and taking forever to forward payments, let alone curate cards in a timely manner.
IDK, depending on Ebay for your business is kinda risky, Ebay banned one of their biggest sneaker sellers for no reason (they literally wouldn't tell him why). Fanatics has plenty of low end, its just those cards are priced at $300 instead of $20.
I’m wondering HOW they will get all these cards loaded into the Fanatics platform? Burbank has over 2 million listings on ebay currently…do they have some way of pulling all that info from eBay? That’s a lot of cards to load. Additionally, Burbank uses a lot of stock photos (not photos of the actual cards they are selling), so you don’t get always get a look at a the cards you are purchasing from them until they arrive.
eBay has an API that could be used to get the data. From there programmers just need a connection to Fanatics database and create what we call an ETL program (Extract Transform Load).
Be careful on calling it a win based on an announcement- fanatics has never grown organically in its existence so no question it paid in some way for the move- every fanatics business is under pressure maybe with the exception of their “tech” fruit or a loom clothing brand. There is a reason rhey havent filed an IPO yet- they need to show massive sales growth or their entire concept just doesnt work
