      yes it will work and i've tried it, but then vocals usually glides thereby generating many passing midi notes, after a while it becomes tedious cleaning them and you'll go back to midi controller. even this method (guitar) generates many harmonics/passing notes too.

    • @polarnj
      @polarnj 4 года назад

      James Murphy honestly I don’t know why I said that it was a while ago but I’ve been going hard at it since that time and I’m using Ableton . U have logic running? I think it’s great as a recording system but Ableton has become the only setup I can customize and tweak in a way w my controllers n midi guitar rig that feels naturally conducive to writing and performing or jamming out parts until I’m happy with them. It’s just really fluid in the workflow I suppose. Also using AUM on iPad with midi guitar 2.5 and a Ik blueboard pedal as my guitars main processing and fx system routed to go in , out and back in to Ableton which I’m still weighing back and forth with a slightly simpler but a bit less performance adaptive connection. I didn’t mean any offense. I honestly don’t remember wtf I meant lol. But very inspiring video which I can say actually did lead to me doing something very similar and since that point I’ve added some stuff but the general idea is still the same regardless of knobs or pedals or whatever. Only thing I can say is different is the iPad which added a helpful amount of control and allows a lot more shit to run without affecting the cpu on my mac.

    • @polarnj
      @polarnj 4 года назад +2

      Simple answer is Ableton Live especially for midi guitar performance. For guitar based music recording I don’t see any prob with any popular DAW and don’t know what I was high on the day I wrote that

    • @jamesmurphy8676
      @jamesmurphy8676 4 года назад

      Rob Cheers Rob. I can vouch for Ableton lives amazing workflow but I thought it sucked for dealing with audio inputs and the piano rolls aren't as good as say FL where it has all the chords in the right keys etc for faster production. But I'm only talking about version 7. I haven't used beyond.

    It seems fun, but I've tried it and it's kind of imprecise, borderline unusable at times. How do you make it so smooth without excess notes popping out and all the notes, which you actually hit, being recorded. The Noise Gate option in Jam Origin doesn't seem to help that much

      It depends on the pickups you have on the guitar, the Jazzmaster I use have the cleanest and brighter single coil pickups
