.....your channel is one of those that I have to watch on the big screen tv......you just cant take in all the beauty on a laptop screen....and your nutrient talks are some of the best....You have been taking about calmag,.. PH,...nutrient breakdowns,... and what plants need long before I purchased my first orchid....and you reference research alot.....much better than opinions...
..That Jacks Petunia is a great mix, I forget about that one.........research has shown, Nitrate Nitrogen absorbs in a nice steady controled uptake vs a quick leaf tip burning uptake, with some ammonical added to the mix....and the lower P is better all the way around.......Turbo makes me want another lab so bad.....they are the best. What a handsome big guy he is....

Hi Jeff 👋 Sweet Turbo 😍 Thank you for going over fertilizers! Not everyone goes over fertilizing Tropical plants. Right now I have Dr Earths Organic, because it has all the extras like micros and macros. ( I have 3 kinds, Tropical, Acid Lovers, and Original) and I use Miracle-Gro Orchid spray on for my orchids and Bromeliads. I have problems with the frequency. Fear I guess. I do have PW water soluble, but, unsure when to use (?) Where it says weekly or every other week, I dont want to over do, so.... I do live in zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast. Loads of heat and humidity 🥵 Thanks again for this video. You take good care of yourself and I hope your family is doing well.

I bet you had plenty of rain last night. The storm was wicked windy and took down half a 60 year old silver maple at my mom’s. Luckily it didn’t hit anything.

So much rain! FINALLY! it was so brutal having to water constantly, especially with that heat yesterday! Luckily all of the plants and trees are ok. Few small limbs fell, but they were weak and needed to go anyway 😆
Almost forgot to thank you for the fertilizer information. I bought powdered Plumeria fertilizer for my potted plants. You reminded me that I need to reapply today after the rain last night.
For annuals and cactus I use tomato fertilizer. Seems to be the most frequently recommended. Special tropicals get slow release.

That's good stuff! My dogs will destroy my garden if use it in the ground. 😔 they love stinky fertilizers.
@TropicalPlantParty The smell is intense even in small doses, so I use it only a couple times a year at most.
I remember the first time I used it was in my old growspace indoors! Huge mistake! Smelled like the penguin and seal enclosures at the zoo for nearly a month after. 😆
My thing with fertilizers is to have N and K equal (or nearly equal), and P about 1/3 of K (or 3:1:3 ratio). There is so much chat about excess K being bad for the plants but having tried 3:1:2 and 3:1:1 formulas, dropping the K has some pretty significant impacts and not for the better. By the same token, high K feeds (where K is more than 1.75 the N) used regularly also has negative impacts. I agree that sometimes you have to throw a high P formula at the plants but I use that only as a last resort if the plant isn't blooming.

I don't see why not. Houseplant fertilizer is generally just a weaker fertilizer and/or a fertilizer balanced for foliar growth.
@@TropicalPlantParty I had houseplant fertilizer on a monthly subscription from Amazon and I stockpiled quite a bit, needless to say I don’t fertilize my houseplants very often. 🥺💐💚🙃

Great video, thanks for sharing. I would love to hear more details on your home brew for Palms. In the UK we mostly use Palm Focus (2.1;0.9;3.6), I tend to mix in some organic seaweed and fish emulsion. The palms react well to that. I'm trying a new palm fertilizer this week, it's 21;7;21 Chem Pak, so the jury is still out on that one.
For the rest of the garden I use organic seaweed with fish emulsion and sometime add molasses ( still working on the right proportions). In the autumn, everything in the ground gets well rotted manure or 6x (chicken manure), it helps with overwintering. I'm in zone 8a, so don't see the extreme cold that you see, but we don't get the extremes high either and definitely not enough days above 20C.

PS, do you faux plant your red bananas and bring them in for the winter?
I prefer the mg liquafeed to the mg garden feeder with the powder. I don't see how the powder can be evenly dispersed when it's not even completely dissolved for most of the application, and it dilutes while you're spraying. Also the sprayer has less useful spray patterns for me (love a good stream.) and doesn't let you switch to just water. Neither sprayer is really great quality though, and the liquafeed sprayer always leaks if there's still liquid in the bottle and it's not angled just right when stored.
Haven't seen your yard in so long! It's looking more beautiful than ever and so lush with the palms back in place! I have some catching up to do!
