Well, it's so nice to see the first celebration of Vinai reunion 🫂 . I left from Nongkhai in 1976 to the US and never stepped foot in this refugee camp. However, it's an amazing place and memorable experiences for so many people who have lived here.

Hi Richard it must be wonderful to have time to go see the old way a place where our grandparents and our parents used to live briefly it must be a hard life for those who have lived in that era I was born there but raised in America so I wouldn't know how it feels to have the experience that our parents and grandparents did there once it must be a great place to be in order for them to relive back then it must be a great place of happy and sad time at the same time for all the older generation I cannot relate how it is to those who once lived there and move on someday I will love to come see the places that my parents used to live. Hmong people have no country but they happy with what little they have. It seems like a nice place for them back then to want to relive and remember it again thank you Richard

Didn’t get the chance to be born nor live in Vibnais, however 2016 my parents, aunts and uncle, my sister and I were able to make it back. Yes, it's a historical place for most of our Hmong people in our life time.

My family and I escaped from Laos to Thailand in 1979 due to the Secret War. We came to live in Ban Vinai Refugee Camp from 1979 - 1984. While living in Ban Vinai, my family and other 50,000 plus Hmong refugees weren’t scared of getting killed by the North Vietnamese and Red Lao anymore (unlike hiding in the deep forests of Laos where we could get killed by the communists at any moment). Why not appreciate the place that you and your family breathed the air, drank the well water, ate the foods (donated by the United Nations) that saved your life and your family’s lives before you came to America or other countries? I will NEVER forget Ban Vinai.
People have attitudes and said what they like. Be your own and let other be them.

It is people choice to travel where they wanted to... traveling is a choice not a mandate... some love traveling and some hate traveling...
Why Vinai? What is good and bad to promote tourism in Vinai? Who benefits it? Is this going to be a center for Hmong international officials in the next generation to fight against communism?
Good questions for the host of the event
Wow, "Is this going to be a center for Hmong international officials in the next generation to fight against communism?" wow. That's a mouth full. The assumption of "a center", THE epic center of operation. The idea of great delegates of great Hmong leaders representation - "Hmong international officials," from all over the world. The passing of this baton to "the next generation" already, because of this epic importance of annihilation of communism. And what a world vision and purpose to "fight against communism." There we go, saving the world. How about a small tourist place that a few thousands Hmong from America, that just can't let go, making their journey to this great Hmong "mecca" and stop by for a few minutes yet couldn't recognized it anymore, on their way to some touristy desires and places around Thailand and even Laos every year, supporting the local by buying and eating their food on the side of the road!?!?! CAN WE JUST DO THAT INSTEAD OF SAVING THE WORLD? It's good to think BIG sometime, but I am pretty sure your first 3 questions is probably the END goals. AND I like to visit this video in a few years when there is a United Nation, I mean, United Hmong Nation in this great metropolitan with it's great skyscrapers, monuments, UHN (wow acronym sounds good) building..like New York.
