Orrery: How the Earth orbits the Sun

This orrery at the National Space Centre shows how the Moon orbits the Earth, which orbits the Sun. The idea that the Sun orbited around the Earth was called the geocentric model. In the early 1600s, Galileo used his telescopes to help prove that the Sun was at the centre of our Solar System and in fact the Earth orbited the Sun.
