The remarkable thing about her hat is that only someone with such expressive facial features could pull it off. Anyone else would be lost inside the thing.
Carol made a boo boo here - gold albums are issued by unit sales, not total dollar amounts. Her album sold a million units, which is indeed an impressive achievement!
Carol is a superstar still in 2018. I believe her cheer and happy go lucky is the key ingredient to longevity. Loved the hat, very fitting of a lady of theater or a drag queen 👑
As for the gold record comment, the award was launched in 1958; originally, the requirement for a Gold single was one million units sold and a Gold album represented $1 million in sales (at wholesale value, around a third of the list price). In 1975, the additional requirement of 500,000 units sold was added for Gold albums.
I couldn't concentrate on anything but that hat! Carol looked like she had caught her head in an air duct and could only detach part of it in order to come on the show!
Carol Channing's "head covering" resembles a giant shirtsleeve turned upped cuff.At least it keeps her"just came out of a wind tunnel " hair covered. If Carol Channing can pick out an out fit to wear and get her makeup done either at home OR there at the studio dressing room, wouldn't you believe she had PLENTY of time to see to her hair? The only "head covering" she has not worn so far is a paper bag,but give her time.
I said it the last time she was on and I'll say it again, there have been tons of celebrities on this show, but Carol is the worst player I've seen YET on the lightening round
Carol Channing died from natural causes on January 15, 2019, at her home in Rancho Mirage, California, at the age of 97. On January 16, the lights on Broadway were dimmed in honor of Channing. A crowd congregated outside the St. James Theatre, as it had also been the anniversary of the opening of the original Broadway production of Hello, Dolly!. Her ashes were scattered between the Curran Theatre and the Geary Theater in San Francisco.
Please be mindful of your language. “Nutcase” has no place in an enlightened society where mental health is concerned. Carol was way ahead of her time in terms of creativity and as an expressive artist. This can challenge some people who are conformist in their expectations of how other people should or ought to behave. Anything out of the ordinary (and Carol was) can be deemed to be “nutty” because it transcends normality. However, to dismiss someone in such a derogatory manner is, in my book, disrespectful and offensive. “Nutty” is a trite term that is insulting to those who struggle with their mental health. I am posting this comment because it may encourage you and others to be mindful of the consequences of name-calling someone, even though they are no longer with us.
@@heinkle1 I read even before the marriage there was instability in the relationship. Love watching this show and he is exceptionally interesting to watch..
I love Carol Channing, never heard her but watching few episodes makes me laugh. Carol was sooo funny in her actions. Peter Lawfor and Tony Randal were total gentlemen. They stood up every time contestants come in and go out, unlike other men, they only stood half way as if they’re lazy or never stood up at all, no manners.
I loved Peter Lawford on Password.

Yeah she was so adorable or should I say is💜
Looks like she’s got a pot on her head
Only someone like Carol Channing could get away with wearing a lampshade for a hat
Sorry, but she looks like a bottle of laxative.
@@dinahbrown902 that's the most bizarre hat I have ever seen.

rather egomaniacal for her to trot it out
Agreed, also Alan's statement about "a million people buying the record" is not true either. It IS the sales not the number of people

Drag queens are depraved and deviant and iniquitous. Mentioning them as you did is showing respect to them. Shame on you.

My great-grandfather was named "Maurice" and it was pronounced "Morris", too. Yeah for PASSWORD!
Magnificent Failure I know of Brits doing that. Never heard of a Maurice as Morris among Americans.

Peter held the lightning round record for men - 17 seconds I believe. He finished here at 20, not bad.
Do you know off hand what the record for a woman was?
He beat that with 12 seconds
I saw Flo Henderson do it in 25, don't know if that's the record for females

I know it's the 60's. But what in the world does Carol Channing have on her head? Looks like a lamp shade.
Poor Carol, getting a marshmallow stuck on her head…
She wears it well!
Lol
Exactly...You have me laughing over here. Omg it was sooo needed ... thank you !!!
Carol must have run from the house without unplugging her Sunbeam hair dryer. She's still wearing the bonnet.
TheYellowTulips LOTFL!!
She was a lovely person. And an mpressiveve player.Maybe she had a bad hair day
Why does Carol have a bucket on her head ?
It was the style! I saw a similar trough on What's My Line...
I thought it was an oversized marshmallow......
and on every episode she's on, she NEVER removes it either!
Neat hat! Never seen anything like that!
I love that she makes fun of her hat too lol. She is very nice.
Carol was even more 'passing' than Lena Horne.
An alternative use for lampshades; clever, chic and attractive!
🤣🤣🤣
Hat Hat hat hat hat hat hat. Haaaaat! Hat.
Carol is fantastic, but that hat reminds me of a marshmallow.

Too bad. It was an enjoyable episode.
That hat lol. Can hardly see her under it😅.
The hat was horrendous! Can't believe anyone would wear that to a game show or out in public?!
Carol was a good player
You ARE kidding, of course?
This chic really reminds me of sia.
Peter Lawford should have thought of the word "varsity" as a clue for "drag".
And I don't think drag queen exist ed back then
@@mehboobkm2018 The phrase existed. It was just something that wouldn't have been uttered on network television.

Yes, Lawford himself sang "Varsity Drag" with June Allyson in the 1947 film "Good News".

Carol's been in the champagne bucket.......must have gotten looped--she has it inverted on her head!

Love it too bad they don't have it on now
When Nancy responded in her very southern accent, Allen always repeated in a like fashion. Must have been his South Texas roots coming through.
