I have watched this entire movie 🎥 at least four times. I had never seen Richard Widmark acting in anything before, but after watching him in that scene where he was starting to kiss Felicity Farr, and finally kissed her, I was in love 🥰 with Richard Widmark. I suppose his wife was too since they were married and stayed married until he died. 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Great Saga of the Newman .... without them you can not understand the Soundtracks!......Valdez suite and video Extraordinary !!!..¡¡¡ Forever Valdez !!! Sweet dreams !!!! XXXXXxxxxxx
Today marks the 100th birthday of Richard Widmark one of the best actors of the 40s, 50s and 60s era. He was very underrated as a actor I think. The Last Wagon is not only one of his best films but a fine western. If you have not seen it I urge you to check it out. Yellow Sky is another great western starting Richard Widmark and the very talented and underrated Gregory Peck.
Lionel Newman, one of the most underrated composers in the film industry.A true musical genius.Fantastic edit and soundtrack choice Valdez.Excellent stuff again my friend. You never disappoint.Long may yer vids continue.
One of the very best Western themes ever and my personal favourite. One can quibble with some of the film's continuity (Tommy Rettig's hair kept going from long to short and back again, sometimes in the same scene) but not with Lionel Newman's wonderful score. I have the Tex Ritter 45 rpm single on Capitol and here are the lyrics to the theme: The Last Wagon, last on the train, They made it their home and their friend. They braved the danger, hardship and pain, In search of that sweet journey's end. A land safe and peaceful, a stream running by, Where trail weary wanderers can rest neath the sky. The Last Wagon showed them the way, The wheels seemed to say travel on.
I have the Intrada soundtrack CD (from which this upload was most probably taken) containing around half an hour each from the scores of The Last Wagon and The True Story of Jesse James (UK title The James Brothers) and The Last Wagon score should have had a CD to itself, as there is so much of the score missing from the Intrada release. Still, I suppose we're lucky to get what we've got.
Thanks for the soundtrack. I always was looking for it and I never found it. Is a beautiful film that express values and feelings like all the american films. Thanks.
Thanks, but I figure opinion probably vary on that one. ;-) By the way, I think the song from the movie is pretty good as well. I think Tex Ritter performed it.
