Hi, Lauren! I have something to say about the ending you got to “it’s not me, it’s my basement.” I overtime learned from playing that game again and again, and getting that same ending every time, that the ending is darker than you think. In the end, after embry pushed the doctor down the stairs and had the run in with the monster, they had woken up from the dream, right? Well, yes. But, the dream was actually a dream that drove embry so crazy, that they decided to open the basement door, and lock themself in the basement, and I learned if you have the volume up all the way, then at the end, you hear a soft screaming, muffled by the basement door. This alludes to the fact that embry committed suicide.
So sorry but Embry is they/them (confirmed by creator)

A better ending to the daughter one I feel would be the “dad” saying “wait a minute, my daughter died 2 months ago”. Cus he’d know if he didn’t have a daughter but if she died his subconscious wouldn’t think much about her talking since he had a daughter

For “it’s not me it’s my basement” it reminded me of something I read. Basically hen people go through a lot of trauma, sometimes their brain alters the memory and makes them hallucinate. Like in the movie “fractured” the girl basically killed her parents, but since she couldn’t handle the trauma her brain made it seem like she isn’t do it, a monster did, but that monster is only a hallucination. The nightmares she has are showing the truth about the situation and that’s that she murdered her parents.
and at the end if you turn your volume up all the way you hear soft muffled screaming meaning she basically did suicide after

This may be a long shot but here’s what I think the meaning of the last game is:
A metaphor for mental health
The monsters are like the dark and scary parts of yourself that whisper to you, that become impossible to ignore. People try to help, but it’s really hard to let them in, no matter how nice or trustworthy they are. You don’t want them to get eaten, you don’t want them to feel the same pain.
You don’t want them to consume you, but day by day it gets harder to avoid. You try to keep the thoughts busy and away from you, but it’s the same thing.
That’s just my interpretation, feel free to tell me your own! :)

Can I Have A Glass Of Water? is one of my favorite short horror games solely because of the plot twist ending. You're literally on edge the whole time waiting for something to jumpscare you and then you're just shocked when the mc realizes after all that he doesn't even have a daughter and she's the jumpscare all along.
I like it in that way, but I think it has a big problem. The main problem is that who can forget that they don't have a daughter? I have two suggestions for how to make it better: one would be if the main character *did* have a daughter, but realized something different, like "wait, my daughter likes the light on" or "wait, my daughter is over at a friend's house tonight" or something like that, because those things are more easily forgettable. The other route I think would a longer game, where the main character had amnesia and as he slowly regains his memories through therapy. Then during one session (the "daughter" has been living with him up til this point) he remembers that he never had a daughter, or that his daughter died or smth, then he goes home and it's tense for the rest of the day because the daughter doesn't know that he remembers her not existing, then at the night either the daughter catches the mc trying to find out what's going on with her and kills/possesses him or whatever, or during the night practically this game plays out except at the end the daughter goes something like "You obviously know I'm not your daughter" or "It's finally time..." or something like that.
I like that game too but it's just the textures and stuff they look bad

i think in the first story the tradition wasn't a "secret Santa" sort of thing, but the name drawn out of the hat was killed and she was the only name left. so she drew her own name. and since everyone had died, their names were removed from the hat. so she had to kill herself since her name was picked out of the hat. and she hated Christmas because she didn't want to die.

The game does take a while to finish, but it is easy to play. Embry is even mentioned in the game as the protagonist's friend

I love how she can go from crappy mobile apps to detailed horrer games. I started watching her around the time Mermaid Swamp was started and she’s never failed to entertain me even though I’m now in my teens. So about the last game you played about embry...basically what I think is that embry has depression or an anxiety disorder. Idk how to put it. But basically the monster is the part of herself that doesn't want to help herself get better with her disorder, and embry is fine with the idea of that so she keeps "feeding" the "monster" metaphorically. Dr. D light is meant to represent the people trying to help her, but she pushes them away like she pushes him down the stairs. This also explains why the other embry asked if she hates herself that much, and also why the other embry says "You feed us because it makes you feel good. It makes you feel safe." When the monsters took form of her parents it was actually her parents, not the monsters. I think that her mother was very patient with embry and tried to get her to come out nicely, but I guess her dad was sick of it and was trying to get her out of this bubble that embery created by talking firmly to her, and I guess embry didn't want to listen to her parents when they were trying to make her listen to them. Also the nice memories of her family that she had were probably her remembering how life was before she distanced herself from everyone. At the end when she is going into the basement, she is actually giving in to her parents and everyone else to let them help her. When embry said that it seems like she had less and less food even if she went to the market. That is because embry was slowly realizing that she couldn't keep feeding this side of her self and she had to get help. So at the end she finally leaves the bubble she had trapped herself in to get help. I think my theory is really good and I am proud of it and I hope it helped you if you were confused. 😁

My interpretation of "it not me its my basement" is
Embry and their parents were originally taking care of the thing in the basement, but embrys parents somehow lost to it
1. The thing couldve tricked them into the basement, killing them in the process
2. The thing was getting so hungry and eating more and more and they couldnt keep up, and needed meat that they couldnt get, so Embrys parents sacrificed themselves (probably the dad first considering we see the mom but idk) and thats why embry is left
or..... Embrys parents died of some sort of sickness, and the "basement monster" is actually embrys gripe with depression ("feeding them" would be taking medication, and the monster being more hungry would be the raising dosage as it stopped working), when she throws the doctor down the stairs, its showing that she gave up on help (most likely therapy of some sort considering Doctor D Lights name) and the she threw herself into the basement (likely offing herself metaphorically)
And it would make sense why no one speaks about what happened to embrys parents, because they dont want to remind embry (or they died and no one officially told embry, but she figured it out after they were "gone" for awhile)
The locks on the basement door could represent how mental health is seen as a hush hush topic, and how embry had to lock herself out of her mind in order not to succumb to it

This girl is a monster who modifies its victims' memories. She seeks out men and women who are at an age where it's feasible to have a daughter old enough to talk. She implants memories of herself, targets homes with an empty room so she could 'live' there, lulls her victims into a false sense of security, then breaks their minds. She was taken off guard by this one man who broke her facade and realized he had never had a daughter. Maybe he survived and maybe he didn't idk I'm making this up as I go along

okay for those who dunno what the story with emebry, emebry legit got so scared or her basement and her parents wouldn't check in the basement emery started going mad. emebry's parents had finally checked to shut her up emerby had locked the door (saying why she locked the basemnt door and only unlocked the basement door to feed the "monsters") with her parents in the basement and killed her own parents (why at the end she sees herself) so she had went insane as a small child and met with her fear. thus it'd be herself

For the last one, I think its a loop where the one that you play as becomes the one in the basement and then a new one of her spawns and so on. I mean the only evidence I have of this is when at the end she says : "Its gone on long enough" meaning that she goes in the basement and becomes the one that the player is feeding.

I just want to say that there is a new version of Mad Father with a lot of changes and better graphics, and it would be cool if Lauren did a video/series on this again.
