    • @kierenmoore3236
      @kierenmoore3236 5 лет назад

      @@riffswamp - Yeah - I'm really/mainly interested in hearing a good quality comparison of the CB and OBNE oil can emulators ... if the boys can borrow a Tel-Ray or similar, that would be great too; though I'm not about to mess around with actual oil - I do that for motorbikes, but tape is enough hassle when it comes to sound/music! ;P As Dan said, the originals are thin on the ground and (I suspect) overrated; people have made repro ones and - as Dan also mentioned - the oil used in them is quite particular/expensive (apparently ...), so I'd be more interested in a modern repro, excpet then the cost would definitely outweight the benefit for me, I suspect ... Cool novelty factor, and the emulators seem a different flavour of delay which can be justified (whether good emulations of the originals, or not ...)

      You can find the court stuff online pretty easy.

      Howard is no longer with Catalinbread. He has a great Instagram feed where he demonstrates his brilliant playing. He was a great designer. I don't know the court details but given that he was their main designer alongside the founder (RIP), it seems really crappy that he would be sued for misappropriating intellectual property. They are still selling the Belle Epoch Deluxe and separate preamp units he designed, among many others.

      After the founder died suddenly, his mother swooped in, and they tried to buy the company from her.
      It seems they really didn’t want to work fir her. Howard, being the main designer, is just the most well known, but three others left as well, then she sued.

    Could you do a video for this Royal Blood/Kleopatrick/Black Keys kind of two people band guitar-drums setup?
    I've had this idea for guitar-drums-duo... I'd be using one or two guitar amps and one bass amp. And ofc both bass and the guitar sides would have their own peda
    For example: using the first amp for dry clean/od/dist pedals.
    (Second amp for wet.)
    And the bass amp for some weird fuzz-whammy-octave-down bassy goodness to bring that massive Royal Bloodish sound for choruses.
    And you could also use the second amp for some weird background noise with slicers/randomisers (fe. EQD Spatial Delivery on sample hold -mode).
    Thanks!

    Had a Fender Dimension IV, which is more of a vibrato with some echo, hence the Organ setting on the Black Fountain. Oil can delays use Union Carbide LB-65 oil as the fluid. Some have talked about using Windex(!) as the fluid successfully, but I found a source for the Union Carbide LB-65 and bought that. I just sold the Dimension IV recently, as I have a Catalinbread Adineko and it really has the sound (and a lot more). The D IV also had the problem of having to be wired in parallel with a Fender reverb tank. You had to take the reverb send and feed jacks and plug cables from there to the D IV and then from the D IV to the reverb tank. This allowed you to have reverb or D IV, but not both. And only worked with Fender amps, like the Twin Reverb. Not very convenient. Anyway, hope that helps. This too: www.tapatalk.com/groups/telrayoilcanaddicts/

    Uncle doug has fixed a couple of oil can delays on you tube. It's the sound of 50's sci-fi/horror films.

    The Gretsch sounds amazing and maybe suits Mick's playing better than the the 335?

    Dan, have you bonded with the Jaguar yet? You sounded killer on it in that first video when it arrived - would love to see it more! Throw some 12-60s or 12-56s on there and it'll feel more like home 👍🏻

    If you are doing an oil can episode Nemesis delay has a lovely oil can emulation if you still own it.
