With all due respect to Shri Krishna and Shree Hari Vishnu, i would like to clarify, Calling ganesh son of shiv parvati is like calling Shree Hari Vishnu son of yashoda or kausalya, which is not true, these were mothers of narayana avtars... Similarly Lord Mahaganapati took many avatars out of which 3 took place on kailasa hence it is a popular misconception that he is shiv gauri nandan, hence we celebrate ganesh janm more than once ,he has taken diffrent avtars with diffrent sets of parents, in vaikunth, in patal, on earth as mahotkat. Hence ganesh is also a supreme being and not just son of shiv parvati. This is based on Shree Mudgal puran and Shree Ganesh puran. Just like vaishnav sect is based on Shree Bhagvat puran and geeta Ganapatya sect is based on Shree Mudgal puran, Shree Ganesh puran and Ganesh geeta(yes it exists, it has 11 adhyas) One interesting fact, in satyanarayan katha, kings and humans perform hari pooja, But, in Satyavinayak pooja, Shree krishna himself offers prayers and pooja to shree gajanan.
