Vogue aka Miss Cox taught out here in Western Queensland for a time during the mid to late '90s as a relief teacher. She usually taught at both Augathella and Morven.
I was watching the new 2023 version and noticed that Sabre still held onto the rings even when she caught the contestant with her legs. I'm certain that what happened to poor Pauline here weighed in to the formation of this new safety rule.
Always sad when such a tough contender gets injured. On another note. I preferred the Gladiators custom outfits from earlier seasons to the ones they ended up with here
Man I wish they showed this in the stares back in the 1990s when I was a teenager in 1998-1999 I would have stayed up late to watch it Saturday night with my dad Vogue was a babe back then
@@richardcrook2112 same here I used to watch American gladiators on Saturday nights in the mid 1990s then go to bed I would also watch WCW Saturday night also
I think once the gladiator locks onto a contestant, they should not be allowed to jump up and down or to put all of their weight on one of the contestants shoulders. It is to harsh and leads to injuries like this. I think that the once the gladiator is fixed to the contestants mid-section, they should stay still and if the contestant has the strength to hold onto the rings for the remaining time then they should get some points.
Yet the contenders would get a earful if they hurt the gladiators. I remember one female contender on hang tough who 'pushed' the gladiator away when they went to grapple her, the gladiator fell after losing her grip but the referee disqualified the contender for an 'illegal move'. There's talk of bringing this back in 2023, if they do they I think the contenders should be able to defend themselves more because if the gladiators can grapple and tussle then so can the contenders.
Something about the arena looks incredibly different from a 1995 clip I just watched. I don't know what it is though. Anyway, back on topic, WOW! That woman is absolutely incredible. What actually happened to her, does anyone know? Did she come back to compete?
She received a neck injury and could not continue. They replaced her for the Duel and the Eliminator with another lady and her opponent won the episode.
I don't get it!...if you know that holding that much weight on your body/arms is gonna affet you and may take you out of the competition altogether...why would you risk it and hold on for 5 points...i know she needed/wanted the points but...if holding on is gonna result in having to leave the competition altogther their was no point in holding on!...i know she didn't know for sure that she might get hurt but...she had to have felt pain after a llittle while!
How could you not get injured doing this shit? Was it really just the landing? I mean she was being seriously abused up there, granted she was continuing to volunteer for it, unless she couldn't let go? Doubtful. She didn't have hooks for wrist grips, or did she?
Fucking stupid event - having somebody hang on you and try to pull you off - I'd like it better if you could kick the gladiator - but couldn't there be some sort of race, or distance you have to complete. My girl is incredibly strong, though - can you imagine holding someone of roughly equal body weight who's jumping up and down? Really incredible strength. Try hanging by one arm and pulsing your weight up and down. For, what was that?, 20 seconds or more?
Credit to the contender - that was amazing!

Wow, that lady prooved to be a really good example. She really hanged tough!
I hope she is alright.

this is hang tough at it's best, when there's tactics and sheer endurance going on :]
too right

I'd have loved to go up against the gorgeous vogue...😍😍

Correct.
Pulling like that is tantamount to applying a joint lock.
If they allow that, would they allow a full Nelson?
Bore off, it was the best bit
vogue was gorgeous , plain and simply , no quibbling - gorgeous !
Name of the game she really hanged tuff fair play to vogue for helping her after she was injerd
No no John, that's not a smile.. that's a grimace
One of the strongest ever contenders. Who badly got injured after Vouge landed on her back.
Wow, super impressive

Chung defended himself well last week, but then lost his grip and fell

What injuries did Pauline receive?
She received a neck injury and could not continue. They replaced her for the Duel and the Eliminator with another lady and her opponent won the episode.
On the Gladiators podcast this week, Vogue says Pauline broke two vertebrae.
@@bernhardjohansen10 i have had a look fo the Gladiator podcast and can not find it. please could you give me a link. I would really appreciate it.
Was that from the fall or having the glad hang on to her like that?@@bernhardjohansen10
The excess stress on her arms/shoulders. This lady I remember was a strength athlete or something, but sadly this effort ended her time on the show
She was my first gladiator crush
31st October 1998
I wish Vogue would be me in those body scissors.:)
i remember when one of the females had her shorts pulled down on this event
pauline looked like the squeeze was hurting her, but she's tough

"Give up" isn't in a champion's vocabulary.

right on dmraider. I honestly wondered if the female glads ever got turned on by doing the body scissors...

Several of the events were stupid mate and gladiators and competitors suffered both in events like tilt and pyramid
Best show ever. The end
