Koala Sampler is my best friend. Just push a pad and sing. Ideas often come in the shower or at bedtime. Start Koala om iOS - record - go to sleep or get your towel. Easy peasy!
I liken myself to what Hemingway had said about being creative. I'm also a creative writer, so maybe it resonates with me more. Basically, don't run the well dry, and don't immediately start working on an idea when you have it - let it rest, simmer, and bubble up into something far more delectable. It may be hard to not immediately jump into an idea, but, sincerely, waiting can save you the headache of pursuing a dead end, too. Sometimes, as Marty Friedman stated once I believe, an idea isn't truly great unless it sticks. If you have a melody idea, but you quickly forget it, maybe it wasn't really all that great or memorable (😂) to begin with.
I do that and have woken at 3am to hum a line into my recorder. Funny thing is next day sometimes I don’t know what was in my head haha.
😊

I record every band practice/jam we have. Magic happens when you least expect it.
These days it's easier than Keith Richards had it since all we need is a app on a phone.
And that’s why he’s Keef.
1-4am are honestly the magic hours!
Exactly!
