- I can't believe how great this Tactical Action-Shooter game looks. It's been so many years, yet Ghost Recon: Future Soldier still holds up in today's gaming industry. I wish Ubisoft would go back to making games like these, but it's probably NEVER gonna happen, right? Did you like this game? Let me know!

Who would've thought Ghost Recon would almost be a dead franchise in 2021? That's definitely not because the franchise's bad, but maybe it's just the creators.
What do you think of the news/rumours about a new Splinter Cell? I really hope it's like Splinter Cell and not a redesign like AC and FC
@@dewaalvandercolff251 you think they will implement microtransactions in the form of clip extensions, suppressors, stocks and so forth?

@@dewaalvandercolff251 who's developing the game?? If it is shitty ass Ubisoft, you can bet microtransactions will be in the game.
That's because your French Canadian countryman over there with you.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is in my best games of all time list. Back when Ubisoft actually had passion for games they released…just like the Splinter Cell franchise Double Agent was the last good one in my opinion.
Blacklist and conviction were pretty good. But double agent.... hoowee that's amazing
Tom Clancy passed in 2013, whereas Future Soldier came out in 2012. I'd argue that the Tom Clancy games we know and love died with him and his name carries on as a shell of itself because Ubisoft keeps adding it with the hopes of using it to sell their games.
Couldn't agree more, shame though, I feel we won't ever get more games like that
For me the 6th gen ghost recons were best
Yea as a fan of them since way back the PoP days, i am at this point sad and disappointed and maybe a little angry. It's clear that the big heads there don't care about passion and high quality.
I mean i am no hardcore fan , only was interested the most in PoP, some AC and the small 2d ones , is sad and I feel sorry for the actual creative and talented developer and artist.
Remember their 2d games as well on that amazing ubi framework engine ? remember Child of Light and Valiant Hearts , their last two major 2d games . That engine now us collecting dust.
Also when is that PoP trilogy remake will come ? When will Sands of Time be released ?
The weapon customization in this game was incredible and so addictive

U ment ps3 days right?
Making enthusiastic games costs more in time and money compared to what you get out of it, it's a bigger risk, so most companies today focus on what people want instead and not what they want themselves. Higher-ups decides what game they should make based on economical reasons, and then the company follows orders without any real depth, it's only companies like Rockstar that can afford to take the time and risk to put more effort in games.
@@bkthedefbeatz Does it matter?
@@karlkarlsson9126 And what do people want?

Fortnite
Multiplayer/single player games are getting chopped because of this battle royal craze
To be fair, there was still a lot of room for creativity back then...unfortunately soooo many fresh, original games have been made which spawned new genres to where it's kinda difficult creating new, original games that won't be compared to games before it.
Just look at the creative games we have now and read the comments. No matter what original game is made, people will still compare it to previous games, saying it's copying elements or something from past games.
Two of the most underrated things about this that they took out was:
A: When in cover, any fire at you would move your camera so you couldn't see over it, essentially making you feel like you were being suppressed (just bring back the cover system also please)
B: In close quarters, they had not only the CQC execution with melee, but you could click the fire gun button to headshot them real quick from behind for a faster animation, but at the cost of still using ammo. Looked cooler too imo
Ah fuck now i gotta replay this game
Agreed on "A". That was such a simple yet effective idea, too many tpp cover based games allow you to feel too comfortable behind cover, with this game, even if you were behind cover it felt like you were getting beat down.
the A point is really good
Seems like old games are always ahead of future ones.
@Matt wants your balls i ain't, been playin old ones till date.
Yeah. Has anyone noticed the ai was better as well? Everything's open world from them now with shiny graphics and dumb ai lol. It works in some games amazingly. But not every game needs to try and be an open world rpg. I don't want weapon raritys and shit in my shooter either. Everyone wanted to make the next skyrim, but that games world was hand crafted. They just make pretty but empty boxes. Wide as an ocean. Shallow as a puddle.
Everything woke turns into shit
Also because they also put effort into it.
@@beelzebubcorrupt4136 Dude you are part of the problem. What the hell "woke bullshit" is supposed to mean? People like you are the reason developer seems to be more focused on fictional problems than real gameplay problems. The problem with Ubisoft games lay in gameplay, mechanics and a general diluition of the genres, not in fictional problems like social problems or whatever. In this video specifically the game is praised not because the newer are "woke" or whatever, but because it had a lot of "ahead of time" mechanics in its gameplay that made it unique and that got lost in the newer games.
I miss this. I was hooked as soon as I played the multi-player beta. It just felt good to play. Felt like playing Gears for the first time but actually tactical.
gears is also tactical man...lol..
This was one of the best games i’ve ever played. The facts that you could customize almost anything and so much stealth was the best. I hope they remake this one or make another one of the series🙏🏽
They finally made character design that is the perfect blend of realism and badass whilst touching the future.
The Radio Comm's are so immersive too!
As much as I didn't really like future soldier, the gear was pretty darn sick looking.
I don’t know, man…my A.I. teammates in Breakpoint constantly telling me that they’re putting on night vision is pretty immersing….
Not to mention the ability to actually customize your load out before missions even trigger systems which was impressive
This came out 2012
This is in the top 5 shooters I've ever played. If I remember right, at release the reviews were pulling middle numbers. This is the first game I ever experienced where there was a total disconnect between my experience and critical reception. You won't regret pulling this one out of the backlog.
I loved Full Spectrum Warrior back in the day.. Not the exact same idea but I can see that this game, which I missed out on, is something I should check out! 😊

@@tionbrown4772 ghost recon future soldier
The backbone of the ghost recon series has been the developers at red storm , when they decided to give Ubisoft Paris full control of the ghost recon title was when everything went down hill
Great info. I didn’t know this.
Same thing happened to division2 pvp when they handed off to massive....my hope is heartland will be an experience like they've made in the past..
FACTS! Red Storm handled GR. Such a shame they let it go.
Yep
Red Storm was bought by Ubisoft, ever since it became a mainstream shooter that with each new version became less and less tactical. This video starts with how MathChief misses the true third person tactical shooter, to me the original Rainbow six and Ghost Recon where the TRUE tactical games, the step to third person made it way more easy as you no longer had to peek around corners, when you were hiding behind cover you took actual risk by peeking out of cover to try and find the person shooting at you instead of just moving your camera around.
Tom Clancy always been insanely obsessed with detail when it came to the military. His books always had that extra know how worked into it and when he worked with Red Storm he insisted on keeping the tactical realism in there and make the greatest tactical games ever. When they sold Red Storm off to Ubisoft, they also bough the Tom Clancy name and began the mass butchering of what was once a truly deep and realistic tactical game were you had to plan ahead and adjust on the fly. It never were shootout focused games. If you ran into a shootout like in this video in the original Ghost Recon, you wouldn't live long. There was one hit kills, your teammates wouldn't be able to magically recover you, a shoot out was the last thing you ever wanted, it's not tactical, it's a mistake. You want to shoot them before they shoot you, you want to engage them on your terms and fall back if things go wrong instead of running between cars and activate stealth suits. To me this Ghost Recon was the first on the road of disappointment to me, it no longer was a hardcore tactical game, it was a third person shooter with tactical light elements in it and bullshit high tech none sense that had no place in a realistic tactical game.

Future Soldier is a timeless jewel. It featured exciting missions, tons of weapons and co-op. There was the competitive multiplayer part too, but it was just a plus. Nowadays they want to force battle royale bullshit on our throats ignoring what history says about games with great standalone content.
From a purely multiplayer enthusiast here I can tell you the other side is also true: why force campaigns and attempts at stories into MP/ online only games. Its like every studio wants to attract every player. So stupid.
@@AKARazorback You are entirely right on your point, but there are IPs that fit onto both perspectives, or can't just be forced into a specific one even when you want to, like you say, attract every player.
GTA V has great single player content, and great multiplayer, both can coexist perfectly well. Ghost Recon has always been like this too, great single player content with great multiplayer, and they both fit together, but what Ubi wants is to deviate from what made these games great to make just a portion of the community happy, and I personally don't agree with this approach considering they have other IPs to work this concept on and make the other part of the community happy with the idea they have.
When Ubisoft was good, back in the days...
I remember buying it on 360 for 25€ and the multiplayer was so much fun as well. Almost perfect gunsmith and so much to do.
For sure, it’s really hard to get 3rd person shooters to feel good online in my experience, but this one nailed it.
Game Developers lost their interest in making good games, because they realized how easy it is to make less good game, with less effort and microtransactions, rather than develop a actual good game for the audience.

I love the Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six collections and how great they still look.
I do wish they would make a Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six first person games.
I recognised the game immediately after seeing the thumbnail, I played it from start till end and at last I was sad and wondering how soon did this gameplay end, it is one of my favorites.
I really love the holographic UI and presentation to the player. It's a small and often overlooked thing that rarely gets attention but it shows polish on part of the development team.
And seriously, having the rings around your weapon is freaking cool.
Meanwhile in Breakpoint:
Gear on the floor shoots colorful glowing beams.. Both civilians and enemies have a white colored dot above their heads.. And they walk like in a PS1 game
I remember playing this back on 360, I believe.
Fucking great fun, and as much as they try to recreate it with stuff like Wildlands, it just doesn't have that magic this game had.
100% 360, and it was absolutely amazing to play. Kinda depresses me to see newer games be so... lackluster. Like the teams are trying to pump out titles rather than make something spectacular.

It's all dumbed down for the casual.
Which is odd, because some of the most popular games out there, be it Fortnite or LoL, actually take a lot of time and patience to master.
So, there clearly is an audience for a more technical, complex single player or co-op experience like this one.
Thanks for reminding me of this awesome game!
Yes Ghost Recon: Future Soldier was a really underrated game. Would've been great to have a sequel to it. Can't believe it didn't get much love. Imagine a sequel was in production and we didn't know about it.
This was my all time favorite game! The PvP was also spot on and just so much fun. I met our squad on this game and we still team up 10 years later and always talk about this gem. This game would have had a much longer life span if they'd just given out the DLC for free. Those new maps were amazing and didn't get the love that they deserved. I would settle for a remaster. Stun mine out!!!
I forgot how fun the PvP was on this game, so good
Never played this but watching the first 20 seconds seriously made me want to re-play GR: Wildlands. Definitely going to try this one out.
Thanks for the tip, looks amazing!
Did a walkthrough of it after all these years and it was totally worth it!
This was one of the first games I've ever played and it's still good
I go back to this game every few years to make the experience playing it feels fresh and new all over again it's truly a masterpiece of its time and still is to this day.
We really do need back games like this and not games that have all the fun lock behind a paywall.
I played this in 2022 and I agree it was ahead of its time. Looks amazing and the gameplay is incredible. One of my favs
You was slick with it so I had to like and subscribe
When ghost recon was actually Ghost Recon. Loved this 1
Except it kinda wasn't? This is closer to Gears of War then Ghost Recon. Only difference is the fancy gadgets an less chainsaws.
@@49mozzer I really meant just not grand theft auto recon. But yeah your right. This is when I was still a fan tho
Man I remember when this game was being advertised and released, the features were interesting and different. It seemed like they took pride in it, unlike most of the rushed games you see today. Imagine if it was released in the past couple years instead of back then.. the technology would go so well with this game! I agree and definitely think this is another underrated game way ahead of its’ time!
I remember playing this on my xbox. It's my first shot at Ghost Recon and it remains my favourite of all time. Fantastic graphics and game play
Loved this era. Played so much ghost recon online / phantoms. A game that was team driven, and love and miss the 3rd person to 1st person style of gaming.
I loved it so much, I would spend HOURS laying prone and take out all the enemies without getting spotted. Lining up those perfect sync shots so the other guards wouldn't be alerted was my thing, I got through the whole game this way, so badass
Some missions were so strategic and difficult that you'd have to wait until the exact right moment to take the shot without getting noticed
I played the exact same way. I played Socom like that as well. Good times.
Played this on PS3 back in the day, had a blast. Bought the Deluxe Edition on steam two weeks ago for 4 euros more or less, and replaying it has been really really fun. Sad that they never made a sequel or another Ghost Recon like this
I got this game when it came out.... it was really good looking and held up. Sad thing not many people played the online game play against squads.
I remember first playing this and being super sad that Ramirez died at the beginning with other Ghost Team Veteran's but I loved how they carried over characters from the OG Ghost Recon. I'm actually super frustrating to see the direction that Ghost Recon is going into more of a Call of Duty then a unique military shooter
