I understand that Wild Assent delivered the first campaign. I also get that it is an awesome game. However, considering that between the reprint and Stormsunder, LSG has millions of dollars of backer money, is 5 years late, refuses to provide any meaningful updates or communication to backers and likely will never deliver, I'm personally disappointed to see them even mentioned here. I'm 100% biased because a sizeable chunk of that millions is my money. I just wish that creators that hyped the games for these companies would also hold them accountable in situations like this. Completely get that the focus of your channel isn't to grant my wishes lol. Just thought I'd share my opinion, for what it's worth
I specifically made sure to note their situation for exacly this reason. But I still like the game, and the second hand market is always a thing, so I would be remiss not to include it as much as I would be remiss not to include a note when doing so. As far as using my position, while I will never overly comment on things "behind the scenes" I can tell you that I do use my position in whatever ways I can. I have been in touch with them intentionally. But there's not a lot I can do past communicating.
@@BoardGameCo 100% Alex. I don't mean to say you misuse your platform in any way. Also appreciate the disclaimer considering that's more than I see most places. Ultimately at the end of the day it's your channel, I love your channel, and your success clearly shows you know what you're doing. All that said, I personally abhor everything about the way LSG is handling the situation. The fact that you can late pledge (i.e. they'll still take people's money) for games with no timeline to ever deliver is criminal. Imo
@@beerman2000like you, i was a sucker caught up un the hype for both Wild Assent and Stormsunder, hope the con artist in charge of that company is enjoying my $1200 - he obviously needed it more than i did
I have enoy3d your content over the last few years. Photos in a B roll would elevate; I get frustrated listening to you describe awesome games but rarely showing them, But I am thankful for all your analysis and honesty.
Thanks for giving us your excitment rating Alex! Always fun to see your insight. Arydia is amazing so far, just got the training wheels off from the quickstart and wandering the world now. So tactile, setup/breakdown friendly, and engaging on all levels. Surprised Elder Scrolls didnt hit the list but hey there's only so many hours in the day and spots on the shelf!
I guess these are only games you want to play, and for campaign games, that's A LOT. There are way too many campaign games and no working adult has the time to play more than a few.
Tamashii is single shot btw. You unlock stuff but you start fresh every scenario similar to a roguelike or similar to slay the spire. Although you are supposed to play the first scenario first and the last scenario last all the other ones can be played multiple times and out of order. I do think you'll like this one when you go back to it because it really is easy to go back to.
Adventure Tactics is worth your time, we loved and finished it. The character building is so fun and the gameplay is very accessible but engaging. My main critique is that the boss actions are sometimes unclear and you need to use your best judgment, also you have to run at least 3 characters.
I feel like any video that talks about campaign games *must* address the elephants in the room - JotL/Gloomhaven/Frosthaven and Pandemic Legacy - even if they're not still on your shelves. They are to campaign games what Settlers of Catan are to modern board games. They're a benchmark that provides a rough gradient for us to judge the other options. The purpose of a video like this is to give people ideas on what games they may want to try - and even if you're satiated on these games, they have to be near the top of the lists for campaign games to recommend.
While I understand where you're coming from, this is specifically my ranking...if every list I ever do has to make note of things that aren't on my list...they stop being my list :)
Wow. I really thought Arydia would be number one. You were so psyched to play it before it arrived when you made this. Now I am so looking forward to your first impressions of it. Lands of evershade and Primal. Wow. Knew primal would be high
I was JUST looking into this today. Your video came at the perfect time! Quick Q for anyone in the comments - which one of these would be ideal for a solo player?
I haven’t finished Oathsworn yet (around Ch 8) but I’m playing it solo and it’s okay. I think I’d like it better 2p but I just don’t have anyone willing to sit down with me that long and play the same game 🙃 I’m expecting Elder Scrolls and Dragon Eclipse (yay, it’s on its way!) so I’m hoping these are better experiences.
It’s your list of course but just checking if you forgot any of the following I’m also excited about, or if they actively did not make the list (they are all not yet here): Rove, Story of Many, Middara act2&3, kingdoms forlorn and honouroble mentions Phantom Epoch and Rogue Angels.
Sorry did I miss Elder Scrolls Betrayal of the Second Era or is it not defined as. Campaign game? No shade if it's not one you're looking forward to Alex but based on previous video's I certainly would have thought it'd be on the list.
He says in there somewhere he doesn't consider it a campaign game. Can't remember exactly where, but yea. Apparently it doesn't hit a minimum length sorta requirement :)
@@paulbarton1119it’s 3 connected scenarios- a campaign for sure but probably not the long campaign that he was focusing on for this video - regardless, i’m super-excited for it to arrive soon!
I recently played the 3 tutorials of Agemonia without knowing anything about the game. Absolutely amazing game design, very elegant storage solution, characters seem a bit cringe/woke, but hey everything is these days. Ive packed it away with the intent of spending the summer playing it with my mates. Stunning game. Great list (of shame?) btw.
I just finished the Assassin's Creed campaign. Glad I can finally put it away and never play it again. Also glad I got it for $17. Not worth more than $20 imo. Terrible stealth mechanics.
Your influence encouraged us to buy The Great Wall because it's your favourite all time Awaken Realms game - then it doesn't even make your top 100. I could go on giving more examples like your ridiculously insulting Elder Scrolls "review" but I'll just unsubscribe 😊 you are a shill and it's our fault for not seeing it sooner ❤
It sounds like you're pretty passionate but perhaps the passion is misplaced :) The Great Wall is great, it's a solid 4.5 out of 5...but I have around 150 games in my collection by now that merit a 4.5 or a 5...so not all 4.5's can make it into a top 100. But I still own and love it...so it's hard to see how it's lack of inclusion in my top 100 make me a shill. And Elder Scrolls I don't even know what you're talking about...I honestly don't even know if you're upset I didn't rate it higher or upset I didn't rate it lower.

Surprised no mention of Harakiri
My all time favourite is Arcadia Quest! Every adventure feels like constant fun front to back.
Glad you love it, I've always had fun with it but never a top one for me

Alex, Kings of Ruin and Fall of Avalon, but it would be interesting if both were somehow mixed together 😂😂😂
Lol good catch

I like shorter campaign trends. Tried twice to finish King of Ruin. Still need to go to last two chapters. Sleeping gods played 2.5 runs.
