I bought a used 50cc Honda Dax in 1975 in Frankfurt when I was a 15-year-old military dependent who lived in the Drake-Edwards housing area and attended Frankfurt American High School. A classmate had a 50cc Yamaha. We had some good times on those little bikes and we were thankful that German law gave American teens a break--it was 50cc until age 17 and then you could ride a bigger bike, so then I got a used Italian-made 175cc Harley and rode it until I graduated in June '77. But the Dax was a lot of fun and it was really the coolest mini-bike ever.
My dad bought me one new in 1970. Same colour. Honda DAX..also known as the CT 70 72cc engine, held half a gallon of fuel. 140 MPG top speed 42 MPH The ST 70 were also sold here, similar but the gear selector was heal and toe and the CT was just tow. The ST had a more closed in mud guard. CT was open with knobbie tyres , ST had a more road conventional tread. Centrifugal clutch 3 speed.. In France and Italy we saw similar bikes but they had 125 or even 150 engines and they appeared so much more powerful.
I got one for free in the late 70's when i was 12, and i learned to ride on it without a frontbrake because it didn't had one. And i learned to ride backwards on it and standing on the saddle as if it was a surfboard. And in the end i jumped over 4 foot hills but not for long because the frame started to crack right in the middle, but it kept on going and going, so i sure had alot of fun with it.

This one looks like an st50 I dont know why everyone is saying it's fake because Europe and Japan has the st50s, st70s, and st90s and US had an off road version the CT70 I am pretty sure this is a real honda

That was one great off-road bike! We ran one in the Rif mountains in Morocco in 1972. Beats pretty much everything else.

rode many DAXs, Mini trails around 50 years ago. all good fun

I used original Dax in 1984 in Bombay it was a amazing bike had only kick start

the first Honda Dax actually didn't have a clutch.. also you can just take a look at the motor itself, originals have a little honda mark.

Yeah, this copy has an electric starter. While the original STs only had kickstarted engines.
you can get chinese engines that have starters for the originals but i guess its a chinese
