I had a '64 with Powerglide. My buddies had first generation Ford and Dodge vans, they were awful. OTOH The Greenbriar was a joy to drive. I'd be happy driving one to this day. PS I had two split window VWs too. The Greenbriar was vastly more refined.
Nice video on your 65 Greenbrier Sports Wagon ! I own 3 Chevrolet Corvairs , & one being a 64 Greenbrier Deluxe 6 door with the correct FC engine with the optional 110 , & 2 speed Power-Glide , & it has a lot of mild custom features that were installed by the previous owner the one I like the most is the Spyder dash ! & a 1/2 coil taken out on the front coils , This Greenbrier is a blast to drive on long trips! Thanks for the video , & enjoy your rare 65 Greenbrier.
Finally a proper review of a Greenbrier! Is your suspension also very mushy? I can shake my car a lot with very little effort. Mine seems to be chopped in the front(or just sagged :D), which makes it quite capable of driving over 65mph quite easily. Just gotta pray for no wind from the side :D.
The reverse lights were factory.. it was added in 64' There should be a reverse ground switch on the shifter that would do the job of your switch that was added to the dash. My dad's 64' has the same lights and they are triggered by the reverse trigger on the 4spd transmission. Though neither of my 63's have those lights
Very dope car. I'm a Porsche tech and I love the idea of the american flat 6. I want a corvair rampside before too long.

Mines not that mushy, hope you enjoy your van mate!
It drives me crazy when people talk about cars from the sixties engine size in liters. They are in cubic inch!🤬
