I see a lot of people comment about scotty being biased and I've never owned a Toyota, but I also know a lot of people that will never buy anything else but a Toyota after being burned for decades into buying something else. It seems to me that his main mission is to educate us so we don't get burned. I have really learned and enjoyed his videos for the last few years since I started watching. Luckily I got a Honda 10 years ago after chasing my tail with a so called American made car like GM, Ford and the nonexistent Chrysler. I don't think that I would buy anything newer than a 2019 because of all of the problems with all of the manufacturers and the technology and supply chain issues. Some really great and smart people comment on here and I always like to read some of them. Thanks everyone and even the haters

To all the folk who are claiming that the fella got robbed by purchasing a 10 year old car with 168k miles. All I can say is that this is the times we live in. I am a small independent repair shop and dealer. You wouldn't believe what these cars go for at auction. Heck I don't even buy much from auctions anymore because the prices are so high that I'd have to charge something like this to even have a small margin by the time I paid for all the fees, transport, reconditioning, detail, etc. So I just don't buy them. But the point is that this is the time we live in. Most all good used cars like Toyota, Honda, etc are fetching higher than normal prices because, well, they can. Even at the auctions. Consider this phenomenon when you make a critique.

Last time i had it with the mechanic was on the annual inspection on february 2023 that is like every 2nd year and still I don't need to fix anything on it yet. Have another rav4 2002 on 248000 miles that really have had some bad previous owners that didn't take proper care of it, Had it since 2022 but have to park it right now because of rust. the only Major issues (despite the bad oil pressure it had one or a few times) with that was that stupid turbo mechanism that sometimes forced me to restart the engine a couple of times, I could have just scrapped it but i know its still a good car so i put it aside and fix it when time is available.

They have this cost and have value, but most are way overpriced because they know people will pay that for them. Toyota has the most resale value, but these dealer prices are a joke and that's for all vehicles. Buy used and pay cash from a private seller if you can and save $5 to $8k.

@@Nousername9-b1n Toyota is like Peterbilt, you're paying a premium for the name. Plenty of other manufacturers make solid reliable cars. Two years ago, I bought a 2011 Altima with only 109k miles on it for $4k. The body had normal wear and some clear coat fading, but that didn't matter since it's a learner car for my kids and it still cleans up nicely. The leather interior is flawless and literally every button and function works perfectly, even the sunroof. I've put 25k miles on it in the past two years with multiple 1200 mile road trips, including steep mountain grades in the CA summer; and all I've had to do is normal maintenance. It doesn't burn oil and it gets 35-40mpg on the highway. And when the CVT eventually goes out, I can replace it for $3k and get another 100k+ out of the car.

However, the 2019 RAV4 and newer models have a 6-speed or 10-speed continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). CVT transmissions are also known as shiftless, step-less, or pulley transmissions”……. Does a 2015 Toyota RAV4 Have a CVT Transmission? The 2015 Toyota RAV4 comes standard with a 2.4L four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission. The 2015 RAV4 is not equipped with a CVT transmission.
